Part of the reason why I own physical media of all of Pokémon. Because companies do this and physical media I can own all the time.
Wish they did physical stuff for Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Home.

If you can afford to, always invest in physical media. Don't have to worry about things like this. Most seasons and all of the movies are available in some form in the US.
Yeah, I recently bought the whole Sun & Moon series even though all of it was available for free on Pokemon Tv. Seems to me like that was a good choice, plus now it's off Netflix...
Yup, people don’t realize how important actually owing a physical copy of stuff is until it’s gone.
Physical DVD prices are going up, so keep that in mind. Hence why it’s feasible to watch the show by other means.
I hope they would release boxsets of each Pokemon Anime series and movies on DVD, Blu-ray and Ultra 4K in the future
I got alot of dvds and blue ray copies of videos. I'v gotten into streaming quite a bit but streaming has two weeknesses. The bigist being you need the internet. Internet conection problems and such streaming is instentley powerless and two not everthing you want is online. I got copies of movies I havn't found on the internet so keeping physical copies as backup and such is a great plan even if sreaming is your main source having your owne copies is good.
As a "newer" Pokemon Fan who started playing 5 years ago with the Release of Lets Go, the Pokemon TV App made me familiar with some Classic Movies like the first Pokemon Movie. Really sad to see it go

@@qwertious also anime sites, there are a few out there and as long as you make sure to slap on an ad block and make sure it's not the fake site you should be able to watch all of it (and more) without issue

there are some valid points here, Pokemon should be available to watch in one streaming service. the fact theyre partnering up with netflix and havent put all of pokemon on there is unbelievably shocking to say the least. and the fact some contries wont get the latest episodes like they did with journeys till months later. they should really keep Pokemon TV up for the old episodes, like seriously they get monitisation from people visiting the app and site
a smarter idea is they could have uploaded the old episodes on the youtube channel where the ads will give them a whole bunch of money considering how they will get a whole bunch of views.
This could be them making room for a new app that has all the series, movies and shorts on it and you pay for it so that gives them money as well

It's probably just a better idea to get the dvd versions of the seasons, that way you have them forever and don't have to worry about streaming services being shut down IMO
Until the disks corrode, scratch, break, and fade away aswell.
Not to mention dvds dont play in order of the episodes.

@@sethawolfe I've had some of my DVDs for 20 years, including my original copy of Pokemon Heroes, Mewtwo Returns and Pokemon Jirachi Wish Maker and I have been through three moves since I got them and they still work perfectly and barely have any ware and tear. They are that hard to take care of.
And besides... I'm still an avid DVD collector.
It’s January 8th today and I checked on the App Store on my phone and Pokémon TV is gone. Luckily I still have it on my Switch and IPad, but it’s so sad to see it go because I’ve probably been using that for like 10 years. I do hope Pokémon will have another thing similar to Pokémon TV again

I stopped watching the anime years ago for reasons outside of my control. I kept telling myself "Oh, I get to it eventually." but now I will likely never get that chance legitimately unless I get lucky and spend a disgusting amount of money on dvd box sets or something.

I literally just found out about this and I'm both surprised and upset by this. They're shutting this down in a few months and didn't even have the decency to tell us ahead of time that the app would be taken off the app store. I didn't have the app downloaded the day before because they did this without any kind of notice. It's messed up. But then again I guess I would have to look at it from the company's perspective. It probably wasn't profitable. But they're could've given us a notice ahead of time that they were going to pull the app.
Well, I have been watching Pokemon all my life, but now I REALLY want to rewatch the whole series from the beginning...what a way to start off 2024 with a vengeance.
This is the bad part about streaming services. They were initially created for the sake of simplicity in finding all the content you could want in one place and watch it any time you wanted. But now so many shows and now apparently seasons OF shows are split across so many streaming platforms that it's just not financially feasible for a lot of people to watch tv legally. It's a real shame.

As soon as when I saw the notification from the app itself on my device I went into complete shock and then broke down in tears. This is so unbelievable! First it was Ash Ketchum leaving the anime franchise and now this? This is so unfair. If the Pokémon TV app shuts down I'm going to miss it and miss all the episodes with Ash and friends too😭

I’m a relatively new fan to Pokemon, and the Pokemon TV App was amazing to use. I was able to watch the anime and see why folks loved the series so much. It was also a fun treat to watch some of their movies. Now I won’t be able to watch the series I didn’t get to or easily rewatch the others after March 28. I can’t pay for other streaming services due to savings and boycotting in Amazon’s case. I still plan to enjoy Pokemon TV until its final day, but I’ll have to find a new avenue to watch pretty soon.

Ash's universe will never be gone it will always be on CD or on Netflix and TH-cam
Personally I think Nintendo wants to add the anime to NSO. They've talked about expanding into movies and TV, and giving NSO a mini streaming service is just the logical next step. Also they've got fat stacks of cash they'd probably be willing to shell out for something this popular (they reportedly paid SEGA a boatload for Genesis online).
I have no problem with that if NSO brings back the Kirby anime too.

A lot of pokemon amiibos didn't work on FIRST PARTY GAMES where later amiibos worked just fine.

@@princesspikachu3915 That would be pretty cool, assuming regional dubs will be included(NSO is very inconsistent in that regard. GB/GBC/N64 have EU roms included, NES and SNES do not). The german dub of Right Back at Ya was never finished iirc, but that didn't stop them from temporarily rereleasing it in the EU-only Wii channel back then, so it shouldn't stop them now either.
It's a shame, but it was inevitable. PTV had been losing its user base over the past several years due to accessibility of the episodes elsewhere, whether that had been Streaming Platforms, TH-cam, or websites that were hosting it for free.
The Pokémon Company has not made a push for PTV in years either, advertising was low to begin with.
With so few people using the app, they may have decided it was more feasible to shut it down than to continue paying for the space.
It's unfortunate, but that's business for you, cutting unprofitable services.
That is why I’m hoping this is to just so they can make a new app called Pokémon TV+ that is a paid subscription with all the series, movies and shorts on it.

Now if they are merciful? They allow us to watch for 6-8 episodes tops. With paying members be allowed to full binge watch. 5-6$ per month thing. Including free one movie and infinite for premium members.
I find it particularly disgusting to be forced to pay for subscriptions to streaming platforms that basically have nothing to do with Pokémon. Why not have a paid subscription with access to all seasons and all films directly on Pokémon TV?! It's ridiculous
I understand the idea of partnerships with Netflix and other platforms, but until their own platforms are shut down, it's taking a bigger bite out of the fans.
I have always liked Pokémon TV and it would have bothered me less to put €5/month here than on Netflix or Prime Video where I never had any interest in going there.
It should come as no surprise that we prefer “illegal” streaming to paying subscriptions to 3 or 4 platforms

That definitely could be a reason they want to push HZ to the front and since they have been avoiding any about ash in HZ. It won’t surprise me if HZ is a AU without ash, his friends and team rocket and they are waiting for most fans to love HZ before they drop the news he is gone for good. It could also be they want to make a new app that makes them money so a app named Pokémon TV+ that you pay for that has all the series, movies and shorts on it.

As a new pokemon fan i have been waiting MONTHS FOR SEASON 3 AND NOW THIS? and the worst part is prime video in my country DOESN'T have johto journeys and only has XY and ruby & sapphire and i don't wanna go to a bunch of streaming services just to watch everything because all the streaming services i know have very few seasons or nothing at all
Me and Pokemon TV had the same life. The concert for this is that I was born a few months earlier in July. It really sucks seeing it go after all these years of me watching the Pokemon anime. Its been nice knowing you.

Stupidest decisions... my niece was really interested in the Sun Moon seasons so I recommended her the Pokémon TV and some days later they decide to discontinue the service for unknowns reasons....
This is literally my last hope for watching Sun & Moon legally. Still haven’t forgiven Netflix for pulling it two years ago.
It’s a good thing I own the entire anime and all the movies on Blu-ray and dvd 😅

I live in Germany and we have a kids channel called "Toggo", which has all season of Pokemon on their website for free.
So Pokémon TV was always worse cause it doesn't have all seasons.
Toggo even has some of the movies (which I don't really need, cause I have them all on DVD ^^")
It's dumb that there isn't a streaming Service worldwide that just has all the seasons in one place.
I'm right now actually buying the DVDs of the TV series, I'm a fan of physical media and yeah I can watch all the episodes on Toggo, but having them on DVD is just nicer to me, tbh ^^"
I already have season 1-11 and the 3 XY/Z seasons, so I'll soon have a full collection (but I also have to wait for some of the releases of the German DVDs xD)
I’m an English speaker but I actually like the German dub. For certain movies I prefer it to English and Japanese. I’m weird like that I suppose.

I'm sorry, but this won't encourage people to pay for other services to watch it. It's only going to encourage pirating. The previous set up was so great for people who couldn't afford streaming services, and those same people are just going to pirate the show, now that there's no official, free place to watch

What’s crazy is that I still have the service on my Switch, and I hardly used it because it was mostly Journeys or the original series (when I already have Netflix). Yeah, Diamond and Pearl was there, but I honestly think they are trying really heart to remove XY from our minds in various instances (in Journeys, with Greninja, and now not even showing the series)
Just saw this announcement last night on my iPhone and really sad to hear that this has happened I have loved following Ash’s journey from the very beginning and last year I fulfilled a dream come true when I went to my first Comic Con in London and got to meet Veronica Taylor the original voice actor of Ash along with Eric Stuart the voice of Brock and James and Rachel Lillis the voice of Misty and Jessie for the 25th anniversary reunion for Pokémon the first movie back in May which was an amazing experience that I will cherish forever but after bidding farewell to him, Pikachu all his friends and rivals and the many Pokémon they have encountered over the past 26 years I won’t be able to rewatch Ash’s adventures anymore when I’m out and about now 💔😢
Yeah, I just got a notification for this at work and it definitely sucks. Looks like it's yet another end of an era for the Pokémon Anime. Not to mention the new Pokémon Anime series still hasn't released it's English Dub and any version outside of Japan. This really is a sad ending.

Like I understand, it wasn’t very used and everything, but come from a franchise which will slowly die because if its own company is a really sad thing, I win with the Pokémon series since day one it’s sad to see how corrupt they’ve become with the gaming franchise, and now the anime, I guess old habits die hard in this case. Pokémon won’t die immediately but it’s already begun.

I left the Pokémon series after short and shield. I still watch the anime. Yes, I enjoyed it but after they ended it yeah I’m sorry I’m done with the anime and now the gaming series I have nothing against shield as a game it’s the fact they’ve been lying to the fans and making very very bad decisions. That’s affecting them in a negative way.
Strike one was them lying about the national decks. Their reasoning for removing it strike two was with the diamond and pearl remakes strike three was adding DLC’s to an already existing game that’s never had DLC’s in the final strike was the anime.
But if they want to kill their franchise, they’re doing a gosh darn good job of doing so it may not be fast it may not be immediate. It may not be tomorrow. It may not be the next day. My health could be next year, but it will happen, and when it does, it’s gonna hurt them financiallyand physically like all good franchises die I’m like already the house of mouse is dead so I guess Pokémon’s on the chopping block next
Yes, I keep up-to-date with everything around the world that’s happening and trust me. Pokémon might think it’s untouchable, but I know another certain company that thought they were untouchable and slowly killing itself, and taking a few of our beloved franchises with it.
This is devastating to me! Here I was recommending them drop everything they've ever made on there for a $5 monthly fee and instead they are shutting down 😭😭 This doesn't make sense as we already are in the streaming service era but I'm guessing they make more money renting out content to other services 💔
That’s what happens when something isint profitable, it gets shutdown. And a 5$ price wouldn’t really be a lot due to the small user base.

3:32 One problem I have noticed was with the quality of the episodes on Pokémon TV. Sometimes the quality of the episodes (not the writing, but the footage.) just jumped off a cliff and it’s hard to see.
Honestly makes sense. I don’t think a lot of people know about ptv much less use it, and most of it will probably get moved to Netflix anyways

I thought this might have been the case because they use to let you watch episodes that were available on Pokémon tv on the Pokémon website but they stopped letting you like a month ago

A few dvds were found at Bi-Mart, but without streaming, that will never be the same on best quality.
They didn't air every episode and I have the banned Orange Islands episodes on DVD. I'll be fine for the most part.

But the streaming service was cheap anyways, because you can't see ALL episodes nor movies at once, they swap things around, and not to mention other websites allow everything be seen for free.

Man Pokémon TV being discontinued is a bummer. It would be even more difficult finding all the seasons of Pokemon both old and new. At least there many options to watch them.
I wonder what they'll do with the Pokétoon dubs that are not on the international youtube channels.
One of my favourite parts was that you could actually download vgc sets, usually only finals, but there were some great ones, getting worlds finals, NAIC, and players cup. It’s really cool content and it was important to me as I got more into the competitive scene through it, being able to watch it on long road trips when I didn’t have data outside of my home country
I'm going to miss the Pokemon TV app.! Now i won't be able to watch it anymore, because i don't have Netflix! I hope they'll make a new Pokemon TV app equivalent to take it's place eventually/ someday! One can only hope!

I’ve been a Pokémon fan for about 1 year now, and decided to watch the anime, and that was the best decision I made yet. After 5 days of school, I finally got to watch Pokemon TV, which I was looking forward to all week, but all of a sudden, I opened the app, and saw a message saying that Pokemon TV will be shutting down. The news made me upset since I have to go to school for 5 days just to watch only a few episodes and wait for the next week to watch another few episodes. It would usually take 4 weeks to complete one season, and now that Pokemon TV is shutting down, I have nothing else to do on my weekends except play Pokémon unite or something.
2024 is definitely the worst year for me yet.
Its really sad to hear this. I was watching my anime on Pokemon TV and now I might need to refer to netflix or other streaming service. Or I can go to anime sites, they usually have a lot of POkemon

Now the pokemon company is going WAY too far. As someone whos been a fan of pokemon for their entire life. I relied on pokemon tv to watch all my favorite episodes of pokemon. I didnt wanna jump service to service for something i couldnt even watch on 1 service. Pokemon tv is my joy of watching pokemon without it.... man now life is gonna be hard.
I hope they will make some sort of Pokémon TV 2.0, even if it's behind a paid subscription. At least this will make it easier and available to watch all episodes.

I tried to set up a pokemon TV account but the thing was just playing stupid stuffing around..
Probably one of the reasons why Pokémon is spread so far out on different streaming services is because of the licencing feed..
Also in the pokemon sunny & moon On Amazon Prime doesn't have the episode where Lana gets a z Crystal..
Oh no. That's sad. I hope one day Pokémon TV shows coming back. I got Pokémon BW: Adventures in Unova Set 1 DVD, to watch both of my own PS3 and PS5, including watching Tubi, for Pokémon Black And White Anime Series.
I think the fact Netflix is airing the new anime has something to do with all this. Exclusivity deals and what knot.

Well now... didn't see that coming.
You know, during the part you said for of different streaming services to watch the Pokémon anime on... most notably Hulu, that kind of reminds me of what I did from Mid-late 2020 to early 2021 when all of the series of the Pokémon anime was of course on there and naturally... my goal was to re-watch the entirely of the Pokémon anime all on one place via on Hulu.
Of course... I only got as far as the conclusion of the Sinnoh Grand Festival arc, meaning I was so close to finishing out the Diamond and Pearl Series. :(
And that's when Hulu decided to ultimately expire all of the series of the Pokémon anime with the exception being the XY series.
If you live in the UK, they have all the episodes from Diamond and Pearl to Sun and Moon on the BBC iPlayer

Simply they are doing the whole creating a problem to sell it back to you. It's like how they cut the national dex starting in sword and shield knowing it would cause outrage amongst the fandom. Then they create dlc and what was the selling point oh yeah the pokemon that you like will be making a return. It's a scummy practice.

i wanted to watch pokemon tv but i couldnt cuz its not available in my country anyways the news is shocking but if they wanna destroy pokemon then i think i will really stop watching horizons because its too much pokemon company you cant take the old series from us just for promoting the new series i was never a hater but after this i literally cant believe it... what a shame /...

This does nothing but help point people in the direction of piracy... since a majority of people will be unable to pay for ALL of those streaming services, so they will be missing out if they try to go the non-piracy route. So people will be more likely to pirate the episodes now, just so they can watch them all in one place without it breaking the bank.
Piracy is sadly also the only way to watch the Pokemon anime in Japanese with Sub ^^"
@@Feurigel1806 yep and that is also pretty sad... they had the potential to make two teirs on their app... one free which is how the App has been, and one you pay for which would include EVERY episode and movie... but nope they would rather close the App and give everyone a great reason to go pirate.. well done Pokemon Company well freaking done!

I've never used Pokémon TV. I just used Netflix and the USB stick to watch Pokémon
I really don't like what they are doing to the Pokemon anime it is like they are trying to make us miserable by shutting down the free service are they just getting money hungry or what I don't know what to think about this News it's mind-blowing and depressing.

Also unrelated but Aura! Saturday i went to con and i kid ya not i actually meet Sarah Natochenny herself! Even got a poster signed, picture taken with her, and attended her Q&A. It was the best day of my life as a Ash fan. And she was sooo nice!

It's sad scene the Pokemon TV app shut down this is one of the apps that I really use when I was younger when my household stopped having cable and just got internet not to mention it got me back into Pokemon later on
I really hope they put all this stuff on Netflix or Amazon Prime just to make it easier it's hard finding all the series on different platforms and I think some of the series is not even on some of the platforms

I remembered watching some episodes and movies on my old device in a very long time during my childhood. My favorite characters are Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, and Serena. It is sad to say goodbye to Ash Ketchum and the Pokémon TV app being shut down. I searched it on the Google Play Store on my new phone, and it is nowhere to be seen. I feel really sad to see the news because I used to love Pokémon since I was a little girl, but now, when I'm older, I stopped watching those videos because I have to focus on my schoolwork 😭

Honestly ima sail the high seas at this point or just buy DVDs. But I will still miss Pokémon TV. The app itself has so much personality, and even though they will probably move it all to Netflix or Prime Video, it simply won’t be the same. I’m actually super sad about this. But I’m lucky to have had the app on all my devices, as I heard the news 2 days after it was announced, nd if I hadn’t…well, I would’ve been very unfortunate, just like so many others who only found out about the service with the arrival of its’ shutdown announcement. I really can’t believe this.
