My late father was recruited by the Japanese from an estate in Malaya to work on the death railway as as a supervisor to the Tamil workers. In November 1946 l was born there

My grandfather survived the Burma-Siam railway. His notes talk of the surrender of Singapore in 1942 and how they are trained North. He mentions the kindness of the Malays and said "Kuala Lumpur is a lovely place". After arriving in Ban Pong they are put to work building Non Pladuk camp. They are forced to move between Kanburi and Tamarkan until the camps are liberated in 1945. Unfortunately most names are missing or redacted.

Please look at 7.14, there's is a big hole on that monument stone. Why can't the "Thai" government repair or replace that monument stone. "Only tamil wrtiting being deface" ? Why there's no single monument writing on english but the "hollywood" made a propanganda movie name" The bridge on the river of kwai." claiming white as superhero.

A monument should be construed to commemorate the Indian who laid their lives.

I had the privilege to visit this places some 10 yrs ago.The Thai side was very receptive and orderly unlike the Burmese side.Sanglapuri is the border town which takes one to the Three Pagodas and could view the run down railway lines built by the Tamils.

Ernest gordon mentions in his book
The sufferings of the people working the railway
His faith kept him alive and found time to forgive
They were amazed when an american paratrooper entered the camp apparently he had lost his way
He told them the latest news about the war and the japanese surrender
