What Are Celtic Tattoos?

What do Celtic tattoos mean? Many things.
Did ancient Scots have tattoos? How did the Celts tattoo? The oldest Celtic tattoos were those of the Picts, which were made using an ink made from boiled woad.
Since then, many forms of Celtic tattoo design have come along. And there is a lot of great creativity that goes in to modern Celtic tattoos using all sorts of Celtic knots and symbols. They always symbolize a sense of pride in our ancient heritage as well as our recent history, culture and heritage.

I've wanted a tattoo for years, but have been too indecisive. Now that I've seen these tattoos I've realized if I was to get one I'd get one that either represents my heritage, or something from my childhood. Seeing these makes me want to get a Celtic tattoo.

OF THE SONG!? I just recently got a Celtic boar head on my inside wrist for a tattoo… been getting tattooed since I was 18 and am now 26, so happy and proud to finally have something in honour of my Celtic heritage and to my Celtic ancestors

@@tannerc900 That’s amazing! Those places have amazing history, and very deep Celtic roots. I’m proud of all our Celtic brothers and sisters, we have such a rich culture and heritage. Once I save up some money, I plan on getting some Celtic tattoos too.

I presently have no tattoos. I'm going to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail next year in my PV kilt. When I complete it, I'll have a depiction of the trail up my left arm, wrist to shoulder, done. I'll do the Pacific Crest Trail in 2022 and have that one up my right arm.
