This looks cool. One intresting tip is that the Nissan Murano used/s the same engine as the Nissan Z, besides the Murano already has the AWD. So id like to think that i kind of own something like this altought obviously i dont.
Cool build! 4 years ago I started a similar project with a G35x and a 1976 Datsun 620 pickup. I just finished it this spring. I migrated the G35X front and rear subframes/suspension/brakes/axles etc... Eventually the lure of manual was too much so I converted the VQ oil pan to RWD and installed a CD009. I may run a hybrid/electric setup through the front axle once the RWD setup is sorted out.
I love to see these parts-bin specials, especially the genre-bending ones like this going from a sports car to rally-style car. The AWD truly puts it over-the-top.
Wish it was more descriptive during the interview especially for those not familiar with Nissans. Had to google it while watching. That said, great idea and even amazing build
I've got a 2003 that I've owned since new. Got a lot of miles on it. I have dreamed of making it a safari style build. Not sure how to handle the lift and suspension upgrades. The coilover situation was what I couldn't really find a good solution for, but I guess you just have to get something custom built per the video. I think I'd prefer to just keep it RWD. Long travel suspension with some off road/AT /rally tires would be fun enough.

I have the same gearbox in my M35 Stagea. @z1motorsport on mine, the manual up/down shifts signal goes from the gearstick to the gauges which acts as a CAN hub, then it goes via CAN to the TCM. Might need to use the g35x gauges? Might also be worth getting in touch with @HTG as they were looking to support the Jatco with their standalone TCM. Could make for a good collab with Z1.
I honestly HATE when car people trash on other guy's build... honestly nothing pisses me off more to see the blind aimless hate other people throw at others for no reason, and there is nowhere it is more prevalent than in car culture. Nobody cares what your opinion or take is, this is what someone likes and builds for their pleasure be it tasteful or not.
Car culture is great in some respects, but what you said is the bad side and I see it all the time. Like if you ask someone with more experience than yourself for advice on something and they just go off on a tangent/speech about why something will be a waste of money or waste of time, or don't even bother, or you better have every single tool that exist and years of experience to do something...like wth? So basically don't try anything ever? Just don't bother basically? I'm saying it bc I've heard that point of view so many times. I guess it can happen in any industry, those with a lot of time/experience become so negative towards new comers.

I think car culture is such a widespread and open scene that just like in everyday life, ego driven assholes and people who have no business even speaking have become part of it and occupy a certain area of the culture. I personally don't think of them as part of the culture however, because most of the scene are simple car guys that thrive off the social aspects and enjoy investing themselves in each other's builds and interests.

I had a 85 720 5 speed. One of the best truck I owned.
