You have a great channel. No gimmicks. No background music. No wind noise. No disguises. Just clear video and clear voice. And plenty of great advise.

This is why I love your channel... I’m not a mechanic by trade but I do my own maintenance and repairs on all my vehicles and equipment about 85% of the time. That said, I frequently still learn something new or different tips/trick of the trade.
I replaced the pull cord on my Stihl BG55 earlier this year. When I went to reinstall the spring clip it was a PAIN IN THE REAR to keep it straight, flat and “push” it back on the opposite way I had pulled it off. Your method of pushing it over the plastic instead of in from the side would’ve saved me 5 minutes of frustration! Guess which way I’ll be doing it next time!

Really clear explanation, as usual. I'm sure you are raising the level of "mechanical sympathy" in the general population through your method of clear communication and multiple examples. I keep filing these away for the next time a neighbour comes by with yet another broken machine.

Very nice. I had a guy bring me a leaf blower that the rope wouldn't go back in. Apparently a friend replaced the pull rope. All I had to do was flip over the Toro's spring pack. His friend lost a screw too, so I wound up replacing all 4.

Great videos are the f45 trimmer and f45 c trimmers different when replacing pull cord because after u replaced the cord put the clip in I have a round piece with the big recoil spring that goes on top of the plastic round piece where the clip is how do I load the spring up so the cord pulls back in ?

Spring and paddles both in the same direction and inwards.
i would make sure that there is no lubrication where the spring clamps on to the post, the spring has to have some drag against the post to work.

MS291 pull cord mechanism works fine, but starting cold saw is extremely hard when pulling cord. Saw will eventually start and run fine, but first several cranks shouldn't be so hard. Any Ideas?

Good advice and people need to use their phone and take pictures. I get Honda lawn mowers with the wheel gear put in backwards and still not working because of the axle shaft issue. I have replaced dozens of those wheel axle sleeve issues.

Hey donny, I've got a stihl fs56rc it's a 2016 model, and just recently fixed the rope. However when I pull the handle and rope something acts up, and doesn't retract all the way. I don't usually have much luck fixing recoils especially when they are stuck, the spring comes out and very frustrating

Don, I have A KM 55R Stihl Weedeater And It Will Only Feed The Recoil Rope Back In Not Even Half Way... I Took The Starter Cover Off And It Only Has One Clip And One Paw, So Does It Require 2 Paws And Clips Or Just The One? I've Also Rewinded The Recoil Spring 2 To 3 Full Turns And It Will Take The Starter Rope All The Way In Fully No More Than Two Times And The Will Slip On It's Own Inside Of The Recoil Housing After It Starts And Then Once Again Over Half The Length Of The Pull Rope, Is Hanging Back Outside Of The Housing

Great tip, thanks. Looks like the one at 1:49 had a single pawl but a place for a second one. Would it be a good idea to put a second one in there (with correct clip) for added reliability? Also, what, if anything, do you recommend for lubricating these plastic parts?
