Using a self-built stone crusher plant showcases impressive ingenuity and dedication. It must be incredibly rewarding to see it in action, crushing stones effectively. Kudos on such a fantastic DIY project!
You make the best DIY videos on TH-cam. The rock crusher works great, even the bigger rocks aren't a match. Thanks for making these videos, I know how much work they are to create.
The close filming you do is just as good as any studio made film, except, it’s real life. The danger is there, your thinking processes, goals, methods. Brother, a two hour video of your work is always worth watching. Like your last well build. There were many separate tasks, methods, trial and error, to get to the goal. It’s fantastic for an old man to witness, and close up! I don’t care how long you film. I ain’t getting out in this snow this winter. I’ll have coffee in my warm house and watch you grind and cheer you on the whole time. You’re better than any sportsball I’ve ever seen. You build, you make it happen, you’re reality.
It's 7 months later, you probably won't read this note. I admire your ambition to take on projects like this pushing past the envelope of your experience. I wish I could have been an advisor for when you started putting this crusher frame together. I ran/worked on/modified a couple crushers in my younger days. First thing I knew was your vibrating pan was not steep enough. 5 more feet longer on your crusher frame would have been ideal. Obviously, you hung the hitch way too forward with that puny little bar (square tubing is the material commonly used for hitches). I says to myself, "That surely is gonna bend". Your front jack-stands need to be moved forward away from the conveyor pit on to stable ground. You have plenty of trees to cut into beams to make crib supports under the frame stands. (I would extend the rear frame two feet and move the rear support stands back moving them away from the conveyor pit so you can make a firmer crib base for them). The conveyor was set in too deep and too close to the crusher mouth (as you found out when that rock jammed the jaws open). Dig the pit deeper under the crusher for the conveyor so that the delivery end can be raised at least 5 feet. You can make a 3-sided funnel pan above the conveyor belt (under the crusher mouth), with about 1 foot of rubber belt cut the width of the back and sides of the funnel bottom. Bolted the rubber to its bottom and long enough for it to slide on the conveyor belt containing the crushed output. Use your chainsaw to cut some beams out of your logs. Set the bottom of the conveyor on log beams and make a cribbing support under the output end of the conveyor at least 10 feet before the end giving you plenty of room for your rock to pile up. Using your minivan was a bad move lol. You can set the jaws in to make a smaller product. You can also crush rock with the dirt to make a good product for road and construction base. Typically, a loading bin is set up above a conveyor belt which delivers product the high side of the vibrating pan.
Hey mate, here are some ideas from a mining consultant. 1. Move the crusher as close to the quarry as possible. Less transport results directly to much more productivity. 2. Burry the crusher and build a ramp so that the dump truck or a wheel loader can directly feed the crusher. One maschine operation less. 3. Elongated the belt conveyor. They are the cheapest way to transport materials. Also idlers (you called them rollers) are coming with lifetime lubricant. They are meant to be replaced. Yours are worn out. Forget the lubrication with the spray can. Get a few decent ones and they will last for 100 000h. Never forget your job is processing not transport not maintenance.
Very valid points. He clearly could do those things but has not chosen them. Replacing things that still work tho not optimally like the idlers/rollers would be a waste of money and time. The same goes for the conveyor, where you'd need to look how much fuel and time it would save him and how long it would take to get to spend money back by the saving. Also he explained it in the video why he has not moved the crusher closer.
If his budget was... well.. exinsting.. he could get a readymade stonecrusher. There's a reason he's built one from scratch. So the parts aren't new.. but they work, that's the important part.
Hey Dude I started watching your videos starting at...."Working Multiple positions in a small Airport" and was amazed how ONE Guy can do so much and have been hooked watching most of your videos since. This video was interesting to watch, just to admire the beautiful landscape and the enginuity of your project. Keep on bringing us this GREAT stuff, very much appreciated.
Innovative and fun to watch. The world needs more industrious entrepreneurs like you. Take part of a day off from your crushing work and make yourself some guards for the belt and the rotating drums/pulleys. We always think we are going to work safe and too often we don’t take time to install basic safety guards. If it prevents one injury to you or someone else it will be well worth the time it takes you.
I have to admit, I never knew Mercedes made conveyor belt bases? It's nice they have those safety features of a hand brake and a transmission to put in gear.
Keep doing what you do! Ppl are always going to think they know better than all I guess it’s just a TH-cam mentality unfortunately. Keeping the jaw nicely choked, awesome job. If you had a guy to maintain your pile and drive your haul truck, you’d be golden. Good job👍🏻
You worked hard to show different angles of the operation of your plant and repairs. Your ability to do so many things on your own is admirable. Where are you located?
sweet we got a video from two work alikes crushing rocks, Andrew and you, couldn't ask for better.
One happy man right there
Lmao "sir you can't park there."
I love watching your videos. I know you have heard it a million times, but, MAKE MORE - but no pressure. :) Thank you for the entertainment. Jeff Owen
ok i enjoy both video of the stone crusher, only thing that piss me off is you never said, what are the crushed stone for, who are you gonna sell them to, and for what price. its like watching a movie, 2 actually, with the end missing.
One last suggestion for now lol you can always add a vibration motor on the back of your hopper instead of tiping it .
Will do something like that
I always wondered what a ride through a rock crusher would be like!😂😂😂
Im glad you are giving an old car a new life and porpuse like that. Not that the mercedes deserved it or anything, but its kinda not its fault it became what it is.
Can't wait for your next video.
Hello, this is the first time watching you. I enjoy this video and look to watching more of them. Thank you for sharing.
