That is basically the degree thesis I did with a friend at my university 5 years ago. You can go even further and make them ride end to end with each other for aerodynamic efficiency. Maybe get them to go on dedicated routes for the areas with the most demand. Hell you can put them on tracks for even more efficiency

Verne is entirely dependent on how well MobilEye delivers actual self-driving hardware and software. While Google's Waymo is actually ferrying paying passengers around, MobilEye lets car drivers take their hands off the wheel in some situations.
Huge problem is that there will be empty cars just driving around to pick up people which means more traffic and more traffic jams. Busses and subway are the most efficient ways of transportation and this thing is just a taxi without a driver which solves zero problems and takes away jobs

Because there are so many more pressing and immediate issues that make this fantasy just that, a fantasy that will never see your neighbourhood. Also, when industry or our rulers need any harmful technology, they just order ‘research’ to show that it’s all safe.
@@Metal0sopher the reason why self driving cars are being developed so much, is because at some point in future all cars will be able to have a self driving feature, and self driving might just be safer and more efficient since an AI can't be distracted or can't feel sleepy and won't occupy an entire seat.
No one will own these cars. The WEF have planned to reduce individual ownership of almost all things including vehicles. Also these vernes will not be owned by people but rather rented out/booked As mentioned in this video
This must be very efficient for it to make sense to lose vertical space in the front for a second row of seats and luggage. It is good thinking to go for comfort and luxury, as most large companies will probably opt for small, cheap cars and will gain in volume in a crowded and very competitive market.
Except it isn't more detailed. Tesla now also shows blinkers, brake lights, has different models for different car sizes etc. This is a nice UI mockup.
@@Jeroenneman Tesla also shows things that aren't there and misses things... I was terrified after driving a Tesla when it was snowing, nearly hit a man while parking since I thought it was real sensors and not just vision... No way I would let it drive by itself with that bad detection.
People should realize that the maker or breaker of this service is actually the self-driving technology - which has not yet been perfected by any company. Everything else is secondary at best.
Where I live dozens of Waymo's driverless converted Jaguar iPaces are picking up paying passengers and ferrying them to their destinations all the time. So the technology is demonstrably working in the real world. Cruise's converted Chevy Bolts were doing the same until they were caught misleading regulators about about a secondary accident (human driver struck a pedestrian, then a Cruise car dragged the pedestrian). Perfection isnt needed! The cars are never not looking in all directions, they always signal, they are smooth and predictable. They are already far, FAR better drivers than the 50% of human drivers that are worse than average, who are borderline distracted homicidal maniacs. As a pedestrian, cyclist, and driver there's no comparison what I prefer to be driving around me
@@skierpage Take an average human driver in any city of this world and he will manage to drive a car. Take a Waymo car from its trained environment and it will not be able to drive. There is a fundamental misunderstanding of how humans drive. The core component is the survival instinct and fear of death, which has not been yet able to be modeled into technology.
Perfect concept. When the government or someone want's to say hi they don't have to send police or other gangsters you just hop in, the car will lock you in and deliver you right to where they want you to be.
having to wait for the bus. Busstop not being nearby. Luggage Space. Privacy. Service around the clock. if this is available for a decent price I see myself taking this vehicle regularly. Even though I live in the city and drive the bus every day to my university... I like the buildup of the full concept. From focusing on reliability with simple systems like the suspension, to the simplicity of the interior design with no hidden pockets. Also the scale targets seem pretty realistic for a small company with 500 cars per city. With this, even the 6 lidars that are definitely not cheap compared to a pure camera solution seem like not such a limiting factor. I also like that maintenance and cleaning is already included in the plan. Well done and good luck!
@@Jimmy-lc3bp that’s the whole point … if it’s too expensive it won’t happen. Between rimac and bugatti you still don’t have a supply chain to build a mass produced affordable car that will be cheap in off to make a profit on paper , 😅 I can care less about the price
I love Rimac, I absolutely love Mate, he is the coolest and most "deserving" CEO of our time, but I don't think this will be ready in two years, probably not even in 10. Self driving is a nightmare and Tesla has flung unimaginable amounts of money at it and very very smart engineers have worked on it, but the problem of "driving" is so complex, that essentially you need human consciousness to account for all situations. The problem is you can't get 99% there and leave it at that, it needs to be 100%. And technologically at this moment, that is still a pipedream. We think because we can get so far and at the same time we are a bit blinded by the (often apparent) power newly surfaced GPT AIs, that it should be possible, but that last 1% is where all the horror lies. I am sure we will have incredibly good assistant systems for highways etc, as they are already very usable. But the driverless robotaxi is still far, far away. Not Tesla, not Nvidia and also sadly not Rimac. Apple spent 10 billion (you can hate them but they have some unreal talent working there) on a robotaxi and axed the project this January because they knew it was just not going to happen. I really hope Rimac doesn't take a big blow from this.
So a journalist doing his job - covering news on cars at events that he was invited to because obviously you need journalists to showcase what you made is somehow unusual? It's as old as the industry itself.. Any industry.
You think Rimac paid Carwow for this video? How do you think Carwow makes money? Carwow makes money by having access to opportunities such as this to then make content and achieve ad revenue.
Robotaxi’s still have one huge inherent flaw. There are no one to clean up a messy car if something happens inside the car. And the chance of sabotage is insanely high. Robotaxis are never getting widespread use.
@@Techridrhow do you not understand that building 5 Bugatti a year for 3.8 Million each vs 100k self driving cars that you have to prefinance to turn a profit is a difference
That's a concern. If you can't open the door without first adjusting your seat and reaching your destination, it poses a problem. In an urgent situation where you need to use the restroom and something goes wrong, being unable to exit the car could be a significant safety issue.
Wonderful, fantastic in every way. EXCEPT - i don't want to stand and wait every time for that electric door to open. Electric doors have never worked, tooooooooo slow.

Or get an actual taxi, or the bus. Self driving cars are the dumbest idea ever. That's why we have public transport and taxis. Now even rideshare.
@@Metal0sopher literally the best combination of cars and public transportation lol
@@Metal0sopher the reason why self driving cars are being developed so much, is because at some point in future all cars will be able to have a self driving feature, and self driving might just be safer and more efficient since an AI can't be distracted or can't feel sleepy and won't occupy an entire seat.
I wouldn’t consider a “big family” just consisting of 4 people 😭
@@caterra- your right but there is a simple solution just order another one 😂😂😂
Mate is probably one of the world's most underrated tech leaders. I can only wish him best of luck and hope to see him rise to glory!
Imagine owning this car and being chased by a serial killer and just asking him to wait for a few seconds so you can open the doors 5:58💀👌🏻
lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Never take a drive with this car in Paris.
Never !
No one will own these cars. The WEF have planned to reduce individual ownership of almost all things including vehicles. Also these vernes will not be owned by people but rather rented out/booked As mentioned in this video
CEOs: "How can we make jobless people on Uber to stop working?"
AI: "YES"
Well hopefully current Uber drivers are better at cleaning cars than they are driving! 😂
Fell asleep whilst the door was sloooowly opening.

"Because it is"
“Dont you think People just for fun are going to have sex in it a lot?"
"I think ill should try as well then."
LOL!
First CEO has to promise not to buy Twitter
Reminds me of the self-driving taxi in the movie Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger..................and look at how that ended. 🤣
This must be very efficient for it to make sense to lose vertical space in the front for a second row of seats and luggage.
It is good thinking to go for comfort and luxury, as most large companies will probably opt for small, cheap cars and will gain in volume in a crowded and very competitive market.
mat watson evolving saw him a few years back around 2016 he was reviewing old cars now hes at the top of car reviewing chain
"It's like on a tesla, where you can see people/cars, but it looks a bit more detailed"

Because it is simulated
Except it isn't more detailed. Tesla now also shows blinkers, brake lights, has different models for different car sizes etc. This is a nice UI mockup.
@@Jeroenneman Tesla also shows things that aren't there and misses things... I was terrified after driving a Tesla when it was snowing, nearly hit a man while parking since I thought it was real sensors and not just vision... No way I would let it drive by itself with that bad detection.

@@riba2233 People hate success.
As someone who loves driving petrol cars, i love this, taxis should be electric and driveless, not sports cars
Robotaxi 8 /8-2024
Why can't it be both? With EV's we can have it all and much more ⚡️⚡️
- How much ads can you put in the new video?
- Yes.
This isn't even a finished prototype...probably will take years to get it into production, if it ever sees the light of day.
This totally recalls me about "Total Recall"...
I can see taxi drivers sabotaging these driverless vehicles !
Rimac shall succeed
This is so much better than Top Gears cringe and awkward video on it. Matt actually seems engaged and knows what he's talking about.
Damn. He is really young to be CEO of such a powerhouse company. Amazing accomplishment
11:52 Matt knows his faketaxi episode
You’re gonna be locked in forever looking for parking space in London
It will do a " black cab" and just pull up with hazards on.
Since when does a taxi park when it delivers a customer?
Perfect concept. When the government or someone want's to say hi they don't have to send police or other gangsters you just hop in, the car will lock you in and deliver you right to where they want you to be.
The other good option for not having to drive is take a bus or train lol
Nah, that's for filthy pesents, royalty drives Bugatti's robocabs.
Indeed
Naah, wheelchair. Zero carbon emissions.
Walk my guy, Europeans can relate
having to wait for the bus. Busstop not being nearby. Luggage Space. Privacy. Service around the clock.
if this is available for a decent price I see myself taking this vehicle regularly. Even though I live in the city and drive the bus every day to my university...
Especially on a night out I see this as a absolute win, last year even tho I am a big guy I got attacked in the night on my way home by 3 dudes that put me into hospital...
I'm personally against robo taxis but am a huge fan of Mate as a CEO, wish him the best
Why not
I like the buildup of the full concept.
How much money does that little rimac using lidar sensors cost ? 😂😂😂😂
Why is that relevant?
@@Jimmy-lc3bp that’s the whole point … if it’s too expensive it won’t happen. Between rimac and bugatti you still don’t have a supply chain to build a mass produced affordable car that will be cheap in off to make a profit on paper , 😅 I can care less about the price
Building the car is one part, but software with full FSD requires years of making, tuning and testing
These guys are really pouring out the marketing dollars.
Elaborate?
@@anonymousagent4336 it's possible that rimac are paying for exposure on TH-cam for advertisment but not sure if it's the case with carwow
probably trying to say that rimac paid carwow for this promotion
So a journalist doing his job - covering news on cars at events that he was invited to because obviously you need journalists to showcase what you made is somehow unusual? It's as old as the industry itself.. Any industry.
You think Rimac paid Carwow for this video? How do you think Carwow makes money? Carwow makes money by having access to opportunities such as this to then make content and achieve ad revenue.
Holly clickbait tittle Batman!
Considering myself as one of the last Yugoslavs, I have been following Rimac’s success with great pleasure. Čestitam. Zoran

Robotaxi’s still have one huge inherent flaw. There are no one to clean up a messy car if something happens inside the car. And the chance of sabotage is insanely high.
Robotaxis are never getting widespread use.
Or driverless cars
The robotaxi can drive itself to a detailing station. That's the easiest part.
I’d love to be stood in the rain waiting for those stupid doors to open…
It's a prototype, I'm sure they'll increase the opening speed if this ever becomes a real thing.
I hate that door
Check out Rimac's presentation of this car, it went great. And by great I mean they couldn't get it to drive 10 meters.
Mate seems like the kinda guy you could have a beer with...so chilled
I feel like Bugatti vs Tesla is an impossible scenario. They are very different cars, with very different prices 😬
@Herkimer_Snerd
Imagine a driverless Bugatti blasting by at 400km/h+ to pick up their owner
How much is it?
You don't buy a taxi, you ride it in. How did you not get that distinction?
Bugatti will be luxury EV market
@@Techridrhow do you not understand that building 5 Bugatti a year for 3.8 Million each vs 100k self driving cars that you have to prefinance to turn a profit is a difference
That's a concern. If you can't open the door without first adjusting your seat and reaching your destination, it poses a problem. In an urgent situation where you need to use the restroom and something goes wrong, being unable to exit the car could be a significant safety issue.
Can Rimac buy Saab and start making electric Saabs. That would be cool.

I feel like for a concept like this, the best method will be easily removable batteries. So It comes for cleaning, change to a charged battery and it's out on the road in an even shorter time
I think cleaning needs the same time as charging. 🤷♂️
Taxi drivers will hammer these vehicles off the road within 1 week. No way does automation replace low wage transportation jobs. Lets wait and see.

my only critique is it does not have any kind of steering wheel at all so if shit hits the fan, you are dead.
True, but you will likely be killed by someone who still enjoys driving a real car, and can afford the insurance, since that's what these robots will never be able to compensate for 🤔
@@mdr-lw2bnor basic tech failures, hackers, people developing tools to mess with sensors etc etc…

So many words.
He's not going to scale, this is little more than a pretty prototype, but its cool to see Bugatti heading in the right direction, competition in the marketplace is great for consumers!
