Jaden vs Dr. Crowler (Season 4/Graduation Duel) This is one duel that I would love to see being analyzed. It shows the nostalgic moment of their 1st duel from Season 1 of GX and give us a little emotional moment with Crowler
Even near the end where both summoned fusions of their ace monsters, showing crowler actually learned more from jaden then jaden learned from crowler, as crowler always relied on his ancient gear golem in every duel he's in, in their last duel together, crowler evolved to show he's grown thanks to jaden, and acknowledges him as a fantastic duelist ready for graduation
True that they show how much they've evolved from each other we also see a quick pause from crowler stating why he was skipping out on teaching the classes
We need the 2 rematch duels for earlier videos - Jaden vs Aster Round 2 and Yusei vs Kalin Round 2. Also I’m glad you did their practice duel - thanks for always going the extra mile, Sam.
Actually it’s Jaden Vs Aster round 3 since the first time they dueled Aster was using a bunch of Random cards. Also I’ve personally analyzed that duel play by play and oh boy TGS is gonna have a field day with that duel.
Imagine the wild play, if Syrus had Monster Reborn he could have brought back Gate Guardian and fused it with UFOroid. Making one of the strongest UFOroid Fighter imaginable. 3750+1200, doubled by Power Bond to 9900 ATK. Would ruin the symbolism of the bonds of friendship, but would be a big slap in the face to Para and Dox getting beat by their own monster.
I noticed that Jaden could have switched Defense Wall into Attack Mode with Spark Blaster and then attacked and destroyed it with Sparkman on the same turn he switched Gate Guardian to Defense with the same effect (Aster uses Spark Blaster 3 times in one turn against Zane, I'm pretty sure) After this, Syrus could have destroyed Gate Guardian with Shield Crush and attacked the brothers directly with Drillroid.
Misplay Jaden! Though I think he was playing poorly on purpose to let Syrus get the win because the whole point of the duel was to boost Syrus' confidence and let him figure out how to win an important duel with power bond. I think Zane even points out he's glad Jaden taught his brother how to duel better knowing that Jaden wasn't playing 100% so Syrus would get the win.
I like to think that the reason Para and Dox played slightly suboptimally was because they are there for teaching reasons. They're at the school to teach kids to play better and specifically to use team work to overcome larger obstacles. If they played optimally I don't think almost any of the students could overcome their information advantage from knowing each other's decks and the lockdown from their guardian pieces, especially considering how bad the average duel academy student's deck is
@@Ramona122003Could still be the case they didn't want to tarnish their reputation as legendary duelists. Especially considering they were hired by Pegasus for a similar reason but when Pegasus turned good, they're still technically working with him. Either that or this would've been a public event to show thier skill but knowing the stakes, they wouldn't risk tarnishing thier social reputation by expelling two students. They did have to keep Crowler's bribe a secret so it would've looked really bad for them either way.
@@MarioMastar No I'm pretty sure they were there to get them expelled, remember Crowler wanted Jaden gone in the beginning of the anime, so instead of getting average duelists to duel them, he went out of his way to get opponents that even gave the "king of games" a run for his money
@@Lucario1121 My point was that Para and Dox wouldn't have taken the job if they were afraid of their reputation being damaged for helping to expelled kids. If anything, their reputations as 'legendary duelists' were hurt more losing to two freshmen.
Fun Fact: Despite Dark Guardian being used in this duel, it only came out in the OCG 2 months ago, on October 28, in the booster pack Phantom Nightmare.
For the curious, the OCG is a bit ahead of the TCG, the format which most viewers of this channel (US/UK/Canada) will be playing. We will receive PHNI on February 24th of the upcoming year.
@@Hoffanheim Master Duel is behind the TCG, which is behind the OCG. Dark Element is coming to the TCG in February, so the earliest you'd be likely to see it in Master Duel is April.
@@elijahpadilla5083 a thank you because all the retrained Guardian cards are already in Master Duel so i thought Dark Guardian because it belongs to this archetype would come in the same time.
They were considered mercs for hire during the Duelist Kingdom and were also very skilled at the game. So if nobody hired them for a duel or something then they have no business interfering with whatever Yugi and his friends been doing or Jaden and his pals. Ngl, it would've been neat if Marik hired them as Rare Hunters as well. A rare appearance in the Grand Tournament Arc as a show before the semi finals a rare tag duel with duelist who lost in the bracket maybe. See Rebecca and that Asian girl team up so they could stay in the game.
@@MrMovieMaker116Yeah they seem more like public entertainers who happened to be hired for malicious purposes due to the nature of Pegasus's game, but like any anti-villain, they still needed to maintain a reputation in the public eye. If they truly were meant to be malicious they wouldn't have kept up their twin performance with the "One always tells a truth, the other lies" as it wasn't like Yugi and Joey defeating them lead to thier demise and a school wouldn't have approved of them showing up if they had that strong of a reputation as mercenaries.
They showed up at the end of the final episode getting ready to duel Mai Valentine and Vivian Wong. And since GX stated Yugi and Joey was their only loss I guess they won.
The English dub was written by people who speak American english and it was Awesome! Just loved the delivery so much as opposed to most anime dubs that just translate the Japanese directly but change the grammer. That's why GX was GOATED. Especially Chumlee's grumbling every time he was called out or ignored.
It was so cool to see the Paradox Brothers again after Duel Monsters and I remember being so shocked to see them against. Anyways this duel was fun to watch
I wish they done more appearances but they were considered legendary duelist in the GX era. Which is unfortunate because their prime was the DM era. It would've been cool to see a rematch with them against Yugi & Joey or Yugi & Kaiba. I wouldn't doubt the Paradox Brother's wouldn't deny attempting to take Kaiba's Blue Eyes.
Word, I remember them appearing in commercials for GX when it was starting to come to statesides and I was like "YO WAS THAT JUST THE PARADOX BROTHERS?!"
Yes! Thank you so much for this amigo! This tag team duel from GX was very cool. And it helps Syrus surpassed his limits and get over his fear of using Power Bond
If syrus actually had more confidence and more composed in the beginning, he'd have been on the same level of at least bastion early on or even jaden, as it shows that in the first duel syrus actually had game on turn 4, but he was nervous and lacked confidence that he could win
That extra maile is why TGS Anime remains on the map while those "other youtubers" are practically unheard of. You get out what you put in and this guy goes out of his way to not only let us relive our favorite duels, but also explains the cards and character's feelings as they would affect the duel in a way that gives them a whole new spin. Especially factoring the cards we knew where in their deck, what kind of misplays are actual misplays and not just cases of "hindsight being 20/20" (as if anime characters don't draw from pre-determined decks anyway XD he called Zane OUT), and genuine strategies that real players could apply to thier duels as the Anime's purpose is to teach people how to play the game and use complex strategies to get out of bad situations. Does mean most battles are rigged in favor of the protagonist, but still nice to know whether the opponent really should've won, just got really (un)lucky, or deliberately played poorly so the protag would have a chance.
This duel has a few weird writing quirks, like why do they keep summoning their monsters just to fuse them, why were para and dox scared of drillroid killing gate guardian if the heroes would take damage and lose because drilloids effect was different to the game, why didn't jaden use spark blaster again to switch defense wall to attack and kill it. Still a banger memorable duel tho.
I think early Yugioh was still trying to figure out exactly how to balance game mechanics with presentation. After all Pot of Greed is used EXTENSIVELY to speed up the duels because the pacing was a lot slower, and the summon effects were likely either because in the anime for a time, you had to summon the monsters to poly them (fusion was still being figured out in early days and I think they were testing the rules with them) or they were doing it to showcase the monsters and add some flair to the duel (since the spectacle of combos and difficult plays wouldn't really come until 5Ds when thanks to the nature of Synchros, combing was a larger part of making big plays so your tuners wouldn't be destroyed before you could use them).
@@MarioMastar Another annoying example of things speeding up duels was in ZEXAL where ALOT of the duelists in that series had monsters that "counted" as two materials since getting the same star levels was a bit tricky back then
The fact that Jaden's 3 monsters fused and made a new monster alongside Syrus's UFOroid, making an even more fused monster and its literally Jaden's card riding on Syrus's lol
Super excited for this big analysis video! Might comment more later! Thanks so much for uploading, & here's looking forward to more like this from you! Plus, the rare tag team element makes it so intriguing!
17:14 I was gonna ask if this was a "Shenanigans" moment, thinking Para and Dox had missed the timing for "Dark Element", but apparently it's not "If/When Gate Guardian is destroyed" but "If Gate Guardian is in your GY". That seems a bit OP, lol, because there doesn't seem to be a restriction on how it got there, so you could cheese it with something like "Foolish Burial".
I know I said this in the original video, but... I knew that the next Duel Analysis video was gonna be Jaden and Syrus vs. Para and Dox, as one of the previous videos focused on the Gate Guardian archetype. That being said however, I am hoping that a Duel Analysis video focusing on the Kaiba vs. Allister duels will happen in order to complete the Doma Trio.
Do you happen to know why it was reuploaded? I know this one is longer, I never got a chance to finish watching the original video. I got through the practice duel and was on the first turn of the main duel but couldn’t watch any further as I got busy.
@@teamboobooseth1 From what I was told, the previous video got corrupted, so it got deleted. But you're not the only one who had a similar situation. I too was watching the original video. And right around the point where Para and Dox summoned Dark Guardian and Jaden protected Syrus with the Hero Barrier trap card, the video just stopped and the screen said "This video is unavailable."
I would also like to see a duel analysis of the Kaiba vs. Allister duel. Their second duel is one of my favorites in the series, and Allister is my favorite of the trio. It always drove me mad that he chose a deck with a lower power ceiling for the rematch, which was his downfall. He chose flavor over power.
I kinda wish Jaden and Chumley did a tag duel together just to watch them do the same antics of fusing their monsters together. Elemental HERO Flame Koalaman needs to be a thing.
I think that the message Jaden was trying to convey was "That thing isn't immune to being attacked, it just won't be destroyed. Everything else happens normally, including damage." If Syrus somehow got it in his head that they couldn't even attack it because his morale was that low it might've been the slap in the face he needed.
I remember being absolutely ecstatic as a kid seeing the Paradox brothers return. Now that Gate Guardian is an actual archetype, its kind of interesting to think what a rematch would look like 🤔
@@vahlen5281 depends on what cards you'd give Jaden amd Syrus from the various support their archetypes got over the years. Elemental Heroes alone are insanely varied and have some really strong fusions even by today's standards, let alone back then
Just wanna say I love the style you did this one in, with the duel within a duel analysis and the tangent on if Para and Dox hadn’t summoned Gate Guardian 😂 really enjoyed this
Zexal entered the chat with Yuma's cards that seem like "If the planets and stars are aligned so exactly these blades of grass are hit with exactly this number of lumens, negate the attack and summon a monster." He needed that luck though cause his deck building leaves a LOT to be desired... (granted that was the point of Yuma's character as he admits he doesn't have any XYZ monsters and because he comes from a low income situation he probably doesn't get as many chances to get booster packs so he had to use a ton of N tier cards.)
18:10 Isn't it more likely that they try to design more cards that can only be affected by trap cards to balance out the weakness of trap cards? I mean, it's a simple idea. Currently, traps aren't as used due to their speed but if more meta cards can only be affected by trap effects you automatically make traps stronger again.
Both reasons are equally just as likely; wouldn't be surprised if both were true. We do know that Konami isn't averse to making cards that reference the anime, no matter how good the card ends up being.
Its a good fix the deck itself needs to avoid giving said monsters spell/trap destruction. Also maybe make the effect a lil conditional. "If your opponent special summons a monster this card can only be targeted and/or destroyed by trap cards and thier effects." My only fear is people just wont play that deck. The decks that use this new line of text would need to be busted.
You know something funny. If Syrus wasn't so hesitant to play power bond and pulled off that combo. He would have been the first person to defeat Jaden in season one!😮
I think the attacking Dark Guardian thing almost makes a small shred of sense. I think they had him do it so he logically had to remove Skyscraper next so he took damage. (Though he also could've used Drillroid either way I guess.) That, and him going on the offensive is probably meant to be a hint at him wanting Syrus to do so as well. I guess that was Jaden's only way of saying "attack them" realistically.
Thanks for the upload. You should do Joey vs Zigfried. There is a lot of turns in that duel and a lot to talk about. I know you could make a great video on it. Keep up the good work.
I only watched the original YuGiOh and never played the card game, but I still love these videos so much - it’s all you, my brother; fantastic energy and story telling
12:00 true keeping the Guardians seperate was the smart play BUT we do have keep one thing in mind for anime duels. they are written 'in character' to be a certain way (which real life players would not) so them fusing to get Gate Guardians is 100% in character how Para and Dox would act.
16:40 Calls gate guardian the strongest warrior monster in the game, then proceeds to show dark guardian, a warrior monster with more attack and defense and arguably a much better effect. Even forgets about Rainbow Neos.
I imagine he means "normal" monster since Gate Guardian is treated as a non-effect monster in the anime despite having an effect [although the effect is "can't be summoned unless you have the trio", so it may as well not have any] And although Dark Guardian does have an actual effect, it only has 50 more attack and is still treated as "Gate Guardian". Gate Guardian also has a fusion version, Gate Guardian Combined, which has the same stats, but an actual effect: "When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a card(s) you control (Quick Effect): You can negate that effect, and if you do, destroy that card. You can only use this effect of "Gate Guardians Combined" thrice per turn. If this face-up Special Summoned card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card: You can Special Summon 1 level 11 or lower "Gate Guardian" monster from your Deck or Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions."
In the Practice Duel, even if Syrus destroyed Sparkman, Jaden had Warrior Returning Alive in hand to get Sparkman back. Regarding Dark Designator, according to IRL Tag Duel rules, effects that specify "opponent" refers to any opposing team's Duelist of the effect's controller's choice. So Dox couldn't have chosen Para for that effect. Similarly, though, effects that specify "you" refer to any Duelist on the team of the effect's controller's choice.
Jaden was playing less than optimally to help Syrus make the big play and build his confidence, and it's likely the Paradox brothers saw that as well since they were dueling in a public school. TGS said that they could've attacked Jaden's empty board for game on the turn Syrus summoned cycroid but they attacked Syrus instead giving them an extra turn. and they also played unusually defensively with quickly ending their turns and not using the new cards they drew at all. so it really seemed like they were trying to give Syrus the chance. They don't want the boy expelled on thier necks.
Actually the anime still keeps the 'one per duel' restriction for these three's effects, just for the anime it can be triggered even if the opponent isn't attacking one of the three. Dox even says that Kazejin used up his effect's single use, so Suijin and Sanga only ha their one uses too meaning Jayden and Syrus would only get two more attacks blocked. After that, not much point in keeping the three out separately
It's part of the difference in how the anime works versus the actual cards as unless one can attack for game that turn 3 strong monsters is usually better than 1 strong boss monster, especially if none of the monsters have any kind of protection from traps, spells, or other card effects. The once per duel effects work best at dropping the attack to 0 of any strong monsters trying to beat over the 3, destroying the monster when it attacks and then letting Suijin, Kazejin, and/or Sanga remain on the offensive for longer even as beatsticks. Gate Guardian has recently received some support but it's never been considered a good strategy due to the fact it can require up to 10 cards to bring it out and even then it has no protection from being destroyed or bounced.
Thank you for listening to my suggestion and making this video. I won't lie and say my love of the Gate Gaurdian had nothing to do with this request but it is still amazing that you did this.
With the characters summoning a fusion material monster, I can only assume that the writers or game designers weren't fully set on whether Fusions could be done with monsters on the hand and field or if they HAD to be on the field or maybe even just the same location...even though I'm sure other episodes show them using both locations...it's just weird that it pops up quite a bit.
UFOroid Fighter is such a odd card. It's always so funny when tag team duelist just randomly have fusion monsters that are perfect for the decks they use. Add least with Black Skull Dragon It's fusion material look like they can be from the same fantasy world.
@@michaelolynyk4319 Never been a fan fusions that are just monsters on top of each other unless it's something like a knight riding a dragon or horse or the XYZ fusions. Anything else just looks ridiculous.
I think Jaden was trying to communicate that effects will still occur even if an indestructible monster does not get destroyed in battle. Jaden must still pop a card to save Tempest from destruction despite the stalemate, so that lets Syrus know that he can barrel through Dark Guardian and go for Para and Dox instead. He knew he could do this with monster effects on defense position monsters after the damage step because Drillroid did that, but the play with Tempest clued him in that the he could do things through the battle phase too.
In the original Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters story the rules for fusion summoning were that the monsters could be used from hand *or* field (as per the normal rules) but all the materials had to be in the same place. Hand *or* field, not hand *and/or* field like in real life. This does not appear to be the case in GX but maybe the writers forgot it from time to time and wrote duels with the old method in mind.
Ooh wow more GX! My personal favorite era of Yugioh anime (after the OG)!! Yay another video! I do feel that Jaden and Syrus were at a disadvantage for most of the duel and got lucky at the end (honestly I am not sure why Jaden used Tempest ability to prevent one time battle destruction to crash the first time? Was it to show off the abilities of the monsters? Not sure)
If I remember right the sub explains it better, Jaden was essentially hinting to Cyrus that he should attack to do damage even if the opp's monster can't be destroyed by battle. It's alot more vague in the dub.
One of the funniest headcannons about Para & Dox is that somehow they became Legendary Duelists just because they dueled the “The King of Games”, even though they lost. The way the characters spoke about them in the episodes would make you think they were in a bunch of tag duel tournaments and won. But I don’t think that’s the case
I've been rewatching the episode, and as it turns out, the 3 Gate Guardian pieces actually have a worse effect in the anime. Their anime effect doesn't reduce ATK to 0, but damage to 0 like Waboku like they did in Duelist Kingdom as well (this isn't just a sub thing, while I don't really understand Japanese I've watched YGO in Japanese often enough to hear keywords like "damage" vs "attack (points/power/whatever)". Even then though, keeping the Gate Guardian pieces separated even if just until his next turn still would've been the better play as the extra ATK was unnecessary at that point so keeping 2 single attack Wabokus was a safer option.
If you do suggestions for Duel Analysis, I have a few for each series: Duel Monsters: Kaiba vs Alister GX: Jaden vs Alexis (Society Of Light) 5ds: Yusei vs Z-One Zexal: Doctor vs Yuma, Shark, & Kite Arc V: Yuya vs Reiji (Round 3)
I'd love to see more Vrains duels: Playmaker vs Revolver (Varis) the season 1 finale, Revolver vs Windy, Revolver vs Lightning, Soulburner vs Revolver, Playmaker vs Bohman, Playmaker vs Ai, Blue Maiden and Zaizen vs Ai, Go vs Ai, Go vs Revolver, Spectre vs Lightning, Go vs Earth, Soulburner vs Bohman
I think in the 'message' Jaden was trying to convey, he uses Syrus' card to substitute taking damage. So, while the monster wasn't destroyed, the attack still had consequences.
I always figured for Syrus summoning UFORoid that it was due to how the Tag Team duels worked in the anime, like I think Crowler explains you can use your partner's cards on the field but not in their hands or something so that MIGHT be why Syrus brought out UFORoid first before fusing them? Because of some weird loophole thing of Tag Team fusions needing to have your monster on the field if you were to use your partner's monster? Oddly enough I think the same thing happened in the Dartz duel with Yugi and Kaiba where Yugi summoned Black Luster Solider out rather than just fusing from the hand? Legit does anyone recall a time where partner fusions were done with person A fusing their monster from the hand with Person B's monster already being on the field?
15:00 So question. Why didn't Jaden use Sparkblaster to change Defence Wall to atk position and destroy it with sparkman? It has 0 atk, so it'd deal decent damage. And that whole exchange with losing life points from Drillroid would have been unnecessary
I don’t know why but I really appreciate that you fill in the mysterious cards with cards that would fit in their decks but wouldn’t have been useful you don’t have to do that but you do much appreciated
Funny enough, in the DM season, Gate Guardian did have an effect: It could use its three material's effects three times per turn. It was treated as three monsters, though, hence why. I get why they changed it, it's just a weird inconsistency. Even more weird that they didn't give the real life version a battle negate.
Doing the mini duel analisys of the training duel to give full context of the next duel and it's implications , now that's a sing that you deal with a pro
I have a suggestion for a video topic: Without using the Natural Energy Cards, how would you defeat Z-Arc in the anime with the following rules: 1. Z-Arc has his main set up in the anime with his card on the field with 2 Darkwurms, his Supreme King Gate and Infinity in the Pendulum Zones, and Odd-Eyes, Clear Wing, Dark Rebellion, and Starving Venom banished, preventing Zarc from ever leaving the field by any means. 2. Your card pool is limited to what's available up to Arc-V's run so no Links or Cyberse Monsters for example 3. No Instant-Win Cards because that's too obvious, plus Zarc prevents you from drawing outside the draw phase so Exodia OTK is off the table 4. You start off with 2000 LP because of the Intrusion Penalty.
This makes me want you to analyze Lumis and Umbra vs Hugi and Kaila. Really well executed analyzation of this TGS Anime! For future dukes here are a few suggestions: Aster Phoenix vs Adrian Gecko Aster Phoenix vs Jaden Round 2 Jaden vs Nightshroud (season 4 duel) Again loved this video! Keep up the fantastic work.
re:dark designator magic used to have a similar thing, where an early print would say your opponent. some cards where changed to say "target opponent" or "target player". I could see in-universe tag duels doing something similar, where it's just any other player in the game
idk if there is president for this in other duels in GX, but maybe (at least for this duel as it’s a tag duel) there is rule stating you need at least one fusion material on the field to fusion summon. I don’t remember enough about the other GX duels to know if this is a consistent rule or not, but there was something like this in DM i think
14:50 Wait a minute, why didn't Jaden use Spark Blaster to switch Defender Wall from Defense into Attack, and then command Sparkman to attack and destroy Defense Wall? After all, Defenses Wall has no ATK Points and Spark Blaster can be used 3 times before it destroys itself. Jaden already used Spark Blaster once on Gate Guardian, so that's one. Then, he could've used Spark Blaster a second time to switch Defense Wall from Defense Mode to Attack Mode. He could've then declared an attack on Defense Wall using Sparkman, destroying Defense Wall in the process and dealing 1600 Points of damage to Para and Dox, resulting in their Life Points go down from 7000 to 5400. On Dox's turn, since he has no monsters, he would only be able to set his One-on-One Fight Trap Card facedown and end his turn. Onto Cyrus' next turn, he would draw Shield Crush. He would then summon his Drillroid like before, activate Shield Crush to destroy Gate Guardian, and then use his Drillroid to attack Para and Dox directly, dealing another 1600 points of damage to their Life Points. This would result in Para and Dox losing a huge chunk of Life Points, (losing a total of 3200 combined,) reducing their Life Points from the current 5400 to 3800. And on top of that, Jaden and Cyrus wouldn't lose any Life Points when Cyrus declared an Attack with his Drillroid. So, misplay Jaden.
I realized a problem with the note on how the useless attack was followed up by taking damage: if Jaden didn't attack, then he could have sacrificed Cyrus's card instead of Skyscraper when Dark Guardian attacks, meaning that their attacks would be equal. As dumb as it initially may seem, the attack may have been to appear reckless, leading the brothers into attacking Tempest and getting in damage while Tempest isn't destroyed. This is how Cyrus then realizes what Jaden wanted to convey.
I remember the gate guardians monsters from the original. Too bad that they didn’t have support for these such iconic cards until recently. Hope you will make a video of Zane VS aster
1:14 I'm starting to think that in the anime the cards don't have their effects written on them, and reading and memorizing each of them is considered studying at Duel Academy. Maybe the Duel Disk has programming to void the play if the card is used incorrectly or the wrong effect is verbally announced (like in Battle City when Joey tried to summon Giltia the D Knight). GX is still tied directly to the original Duel Monsters. Remember the big deal they made about Ra's card text, as well as knowing it's hidden effects what only Marik knew, or in this series when they made a big deal about Chumley actually using Des Koala's effect against Crowler.
There is an error in this episode: Dark Guardian does not have the shield it's supposed to have on his left arm, as shown in the card art. Also, his horns are much larger than what was shown in the anime.
Another thing I found funny about that practice duel is how Syrus got chastised for attacking into Negate Attack, when that was honestly the best play he could have made. Either Jaden loses Avian, or he wastes his Trap to protect Avion. Also, I think you overlooked a miss play; when Jaden used Spark Blaster to switch Gate Guardian to defense mode, he could have also switched the Wall thingy to attack mode, then attacked into that. I get that he was banking on Syrus being able to take the Double G down, but he could have done more than the barest minimum. Also, also, I get the impression that they summon the monsters before fusion for dramatic effect. With UFO Roid Fighter, it could be argued that it needed to be on the field since Tempest was Jaden's monster, but that is a bit of a stretch.
I always wanted to see the protagonist do that super dramatic draw where they hold the card away from them before they look at it. Then immediately end their turn because they bricked 😂
16:41 There are actually 5 Warriors that beat Gate Guardian in attack, funnily enough one of them is Rainbow Neos. Gate Guardian still holds the strongest main deck Warrior title though.
Imagine if Cyrus' face down was something like Magical Cylinder or Mirror Force. Since Dark Guardian can be effected by traps, something like that could have one them the duel anyway.
amazing video but when it comes Jaden's play I think it was actually, Jaden trying protect Syrus, cause if Dark Guardian attack Syrus Monster then they would have lost, Jaden was trying bait the Paradox Brothers into focusing on his Elemental Tempest, but showing that Tempest couldn't be destroy so long as Jaden kept sending cards to the grave-yard then Tempest could have remained and proven to be monster that could pose a problem. so Jaden was just trying get the brothers to focus on him, and ignore Syrus, but that is just my theory. amazing video love seeing these and I hope you have a lovey day.
I would love to see Yuma vs Vector. Not only because Zexal is my personal Favorite Series and XYZ my favorite Fusion, but we can see Astrals dark side here for the first time. And it has a very overkill moment where Yuma attacks over and over again.
Any reason for why Judai didn't switch Defense Wall to attack and destroy it with Sparkman? Other than "that would have been useful"... In the end, it would change much, just lowering Para&Dox life a bit. If Judai actually wanted to tell his partner that damage is still inflicted, he should have attacked without activating Skyscraper, sending Fusion gate to the grave. It would again not change anything.
If he didn't use skyscraper at that moment, then they would've been down to only 200 life points at that moment, then when they get attacked next turn, they would've lost before Syrus could make his play.
Small note: During your talk about how the effect of the Guardian monster was buffed, the subtitles had Para say it could only be used once. Assuming that's the same effect the other two have, they only had two more shots of negating attacks, and then the three would all effectively have no special abilities. Not nearly as powerful when stated like that. Though I'm not sure the special summon was worth it regardless...
The brothers went for the Gate Guardian route since it fits their gameplan and in character (labyritnh theme), even then it could fill theire Dark Guardian boss strategy, not possible if they cannot summon by losing one piece (nt battle removal). Personality and objectives/gameplan takes great part on plays. Even the pratice duel fits this, since Jaden was likely holding back to help prepare him and Syrus, rather than win; hence the reason he used that Negate Attack, despite it being a not good play (200 dmg is nothing and if he needed Avian, or other Fusion Piece, in the future he could've sued his Warrior Returning Alive).
What makes Jaden's move of "giving Syrus a hint" even worse is that he could've just attacked Dox directly so Drillroid would be able to finish the job. It would all depend on whether Dox could play a monster (or an attack-stopping card, in which case Power Bond would've been a loss anyway), but given that he only had 1 card in his hand and didn't play a monster previously, that was a far safer bet to make than hope Syrus would draw something to overpower Dark Guardian.
i found that syrus's biggest issue was letting his nerves get the best of him and it makes him doubt him self which leads to what ever mistake he makes
Jaden vs Dr. Crowler (Season 4/Graduation Duel)
This is one duel that I would love to see being analyzed. It shows the nostalgic moment of their 1st duel from Season 1 of GX and give us a little emotional moment with Crowler

Would ruin the symbolism of the bonds of friendship, but would be a big slap in the face to Para and Dox getting beat by their own monster.

I noticed that Jaden could have switched Defense Wall into Attack Mode with Spark Blaster and then attacked and destroyed it with Sparkman on the same turn he switched Gate Guardian to Defense with the same effect (Aster uses Spark Blaster 3 times in one turn against Zane, I'm pretty sure)
After this, Syrus could have destroyed Gate Guardian with Shield Crush and attacked the brothers directly with Drillroid.

If they played optimally I don't think almost any of the students could overcome their information advantage from knowing each other's decks and the lockdown from their guardian pieces, especially considering how bad the average duel academy student's deck is
They weren’t there to teach. They were hired to get two students expelled.
@@Ramona122003Could still be the case they didn't want to tarnish their reputation as legendary duelists. I was actually surprised to see the paradox brothers again in GX i used to wonder what happened to them after duelist kingdom
They mostly just perform at parties. Their dueling is meh, but their tandem juggling is what REALLY put them on the map.
Weren't they the tag team world champions?
I like how in the English dub syrus tries to trash talk and jaden tries to stop him. It was so bad that it's funny
The English dub was written by people who speak American english and it was Awesome! If syrus actually had more confidence and more composed in the beginning, he'd have been on the same level of at least bastion early on or even jaden, as it shows that in the first duel syrus actually had game on turn 4, but he was nervous and lacked confidence that he could win
I've never realised until now that GX duels has so many interesting 'what if' potentials.

I'm so glad you did the practice duel. Most TH-camrs wouldn't just to have less work. You're amazing dude

13:30 Judgement of Anubis is such a specific counter trap in early Yugioh lol. it was created pretty much (back then) to counter MST lol.
"If your opponent special summons a monster this card can only be targeted and/or destroyed by trap cards and thier effects."
My only fear is people just wont play that deck.

In the anime characters value attack points over effects even during Vrains era in some instances
It's the strongest main deck warrior monster in terms of atk points. But yeah, Dark Guardian will surpass it when it will be released.
Yeah, I was immediatly thinking Flower Cardian Lightflare when he said that.
I've always wondered if Jaden attacked Dark Guardian to pull attention from Drillroid
The same way Yugi did against The Big Five when Joey's Life Points were at stake
They don't want the boy expelled on thier necks.
i love watching these videos sooo much, thank you! :D cant wati for you to cover Nasch VS IV duel, it was epic :) keep up the great work!!
With the characters summoning a fusion material monster, I can only assume that the writers or game designers weren't fully set on whether Fusions could be done with monsters on the hand and field or if they HAD to be on the field or maybe even just the same location...even though I'm sure other episodes show them using both locations...it's just weird that it pops up quite a bit.
hell, in this episode jaden uses fusion gate using a material on board, in hand, and in deck. so I think the writers were just schizos
UFOroid Fighter is such a odd card. It's always so funny when tag team duelist just randomly have fusion monsters that are perfect for the decks they use.
Add least with Black Skull Dragon It's fusion material look like they can be from the same fantasy world.
Also, UFOroid fighter just looks a bit silly.
It is literally just Tempest on a hovering segway.
@@michaelolynyk4319 Never been a fan fusions that are just monsters on top of each other unless it's something like a knight riding a dragon or horse or the XYZ fusions. Anything else just looks ridiculous.
The next one I'd like to see is the trio duel of Crow, Jack and Yusei vs Rex. Such a cool duel with such a ridiculous monster on rex's field.
This is the duel that gaslit my younger self into thinking that you needed a fusion material on the field in order to activate Polymerization
I always liked the Paradox brothers because they were the only eliminators of the Duelist Kingdom who weren't straight-up evil.
If you do suggestions for Duel Analysis, I have a few for each series:
Duel Monsters: Kaiba vs Alister
GX: Jaden vs Alexis (Society Of Light)
5ds: Yusei vs Z-One
Zexal: Doctor vs Yuma, Shark, & Kite
Arc V: Yuya vs Reiji (Round 3)
Another, smaller, missed parallel in this duel: Syrus uses power bond to make a 4k ATK monster that doubles into 8k, similarly to his brother.
I'd love to see more Vrains duels: Playmaker vs Revolver (Varis) the season 1 finale, Revolver vs Windy, Revolver vs Lightning, Soulburner vs Revolver, Playmaker vs Bohman, Playmaker vs Ai, Blue Maiden and Zaizen vs Ai, Go vs Ai, Go vs Revolver, Spectre vs Lightning, Go vs Earth, Soulburner vs Bohman
These videos are always a highlight to my day
I think in the 'message' Jaden was trying to convey, he uses Syrus' card to substitute taking damage.
The way you tell the story is amazing
It shows how passionate you are into making this video

15:00 So question. Why didn't Jaden use Sparkblaster to change Defence Wall to atk position and destroy it with sparkman? It has 0 atk, so it'd deal decent damage. And that whole exchange with losing life points from Drillroid would have been unnecessary
Nice oneeeee, always love to see anew duel analysis from Sam!!
Even more weird that they didn't give the real life version a battle negate.
when Dox uses Dark Designator to make Para add Sanga to his hand, it was on top of Para's deck, so he would have drawn it anyway.

I have a suggestion for a video topic:
Without using the Natural Energy Cards, how would you defeat Z-Arc in the anime with the following rules:
2. Your card pool is limited to what's available up to Arc-V's run so no Links or Cyberse Monsters for example
3. No Instant-Win Cards because that's too obvious, plus Zarc prevents you from drawing outside the draw phase so Exodia OTK is off the table
4. You start off with 2000 LP because of the Intrusion Penalty.
Use Change of heart, summon a Level 12 monster, overlay into a random rank 12. Sad that you cannot use Zeus cause that'd be funny.

idk if there is president for this in other duels in GX, but maybe (at least for this duel as it’s a tag duel) there is rule stating you need at least one fusion material on the field to fusion summon.
Please do little yugi vs yami bakura in season 5! That duel was so interesting & odd, I'd love to see it broken down!
I was so surprise when the first version was cut off haha.
Joey are you sure about that gillfread of lightning 16:47

I'm starting to think that in the anime the cards don't have their effects written on them, and reading and memorizing each of them is considered studying at Duel Academy.
I love that UFOroid Fighter is just Tempest on a Segway. UFOroid plays no part in the attack.
Another reference can be how Syrus's final fusion monster has 4k attack like cyber end and with powerbond being 8k.
Imagine if Cyrus' face down was something like Magical Cylinder or Mirror Force. Since Dark Guardian can be effected by traps, something like that could have one them the duel anyway.
And he does have that card in his deck
either player could’ve done one of those as jaden has mirror force and Cyrus had magic cylinder
@@dellosayshello5405 wait does mirror force still have it's anime effect of burning the opponent by there monsters ATK?
@@drakofox1362 no
@@ionutnertan oh so that was a duelist kingdom thing huh
Still hoping for an analysis on Adrian vs. Yubel someday but Shepherd vs. Zane would also be interesting to see.
amazing video but when it comes Jaden's play I think it was actually, Jaden trying protect Syrus, cause if Dark Guardian attack Syrus Monster then they would have lost, Jaden was trying bait the Paradox Brothers into focusing on his Elemental Tempest, but showing that Tempest couldn't be destroy so long as Jaden kept sending cards to the grave-yard then Tempest could have remained and proven to be monster that could pose a problem. so Jaden was just trying get the brothers to focus on him, and ignore Syrus, but that is just my theory. amazing video love seeing these and I hope you have a lovey day.
What about a Mizar vs Yuma and Kite analysis since it is a hand off duel & a duel without a definitive winner?
@@Guy8288 I meant he would activate Skyscraper main phase 2. So they would not take damage next turn, since he would sac Sho's face-down on that turn.
@@brokendoll3368 Ah. Yeah, that would have been a better move.
Aiagami vs. Yugi(including the Dark Aiagami vs. Yugi & Kaiba duel) from Dark Side of Dimensions is one I'd love to see you analyze
What could of Syrus do without his fear.
One thing that i will always be confused on is, why didn't Jaden use spark blaster on defense wall?
me too
