...I'm just realizing this now: the drones look like eggs, with the pointy ends forward. That and all of Robotnik's other tech is primarily white with a lot of smooth, curved geometry. It's all eggs and egg-like.
I'm pretty sure there'll be a scene in the movie where two soldiers will have these lines:
Soldier 1: "They're calling in Robotnik."
Soldier 2: "Robotnik? ...Oh, the 'egg man'."
Or it'll be some variation thereof- egghead, egg guy, eggboy, etc.

That could be the reason, since this movie is based mostly on sonic 1.
Honestly, I think they'll just make Sonic catch on to that idea and, just before the final action scene, insult him just like he did in SA1. The already-crazed doctor will then own the name and run with it for the final battle and whatnot.
Something like that. I seriously feel he'll change his name mid-film.
I mean...I mean...I wish those robots had a more gimmicky theme to them, asides from reminding me forces exist, (which I now own, I hate classic Sonic’s movements).

Tan arms just looked... out of place for some reason.
I think the problem is that the tan arms were still fur in raddy's edit. It'd look better if it was literally just Sonic's arm skin, but then the belly fur would probably need to go as well for consistency.
@@Tazamo thing is that they probably look fine in the games because sonic looks like hes made out of plastic. When you add fur, it just doesnt make sense.

But the positives have aged extremely well, given the fact that we got a second, and are well on the way to a third one and a tv series.

To the people who ask themselves why their still Sonic fans, here are some theories;
1. Sonic's for people of all ages.
2. You still have faith in the series despite the bad writing.
3. You're curious as to what comes out for the Blue Blur in the future.
To describe the experience of being a Sonic fan,
"It's like a roller-coaster"
The series constantly flips between highs and lows and we're just here along for the ride.
well the character design is quite good msot of the time, even if there's a LOT of them
and most of the games are quite fun and have good boss fights. granted we haven't really had anything TRULY fantastic in a while but hey,we cna still hope.

I'll forever hold the memory of going to see Detective Pikachu in theatres with a friend of mine, and the old Sonic Movie trailer came on and we recited the entire trailer along with it word for word.
Jim Carey is like Joaquin Phoenix, not the same as the original character but good in there own way

I can kinda see what you mean about the animations not "fitting in" so to speak, but it's kind of a given, seeing how this is the "first" trailer (with the updated model). It might end up looking a bit better by the time the movie _actually_ comes out.

Honestly, blue arms work pretty well for Movie Sonic. Tan arms? Not so much. I think it's because that in the games, he doesn't have fur textures. Now that he does, it just looks...... weird
Things to keep in mind when whatching the Sonic the Hedgehog movie
1. Sonic is very young and immature in this movie because he has been alone for a very long time, he hasn't developed any amount of social skills or maturity what soever and should be viewed as a little kid with super speed not as Modern Sonic
2. Eggman hasn't been to mobius yet so his designs are early year versions and simple looks but very complex in design
3. Sonic will get knocked out any time he takes damage while he dosen't have his bad of rings

I’m personally more concerned about the Tails styled eyes than the arms but at least they’re closer together than the original design.

I think is the best Sonic design, period. Even compared to the games, 'cause I always thought the uni-eye was stupid.
Let's Give Schwarts some credit. Griffith and Smith took a game or two before they started to fit into the role of Sonic. Schwarts sounds like a combination of all of the past voice actors without even trying so. Once get gets into the role he'll definitely have more stand out moments.

I always liked Drummond's performance, especially in Sonic Heroes. He always carried this confidence with him, like "Yeah, I know what I'm doing, this is exactly what Sonic should sound like." That kind of cockiness is what Sonic is all about, and I fucking love it.
Ryan Drummond did for Sonic what Reuben Langdon did for Dante.

Now that the movie is actually out, will you be reviewing the movie? I was also super skeptical after the trailers but, despite its faults I think it's not a bad film especially considering the treatment videogame movies typically get.
The movie should have been the other way around. Eggman lands in the Sonic World as the only human there, and creates robotic minions to gain control. Eventually, Sonic and a few friends have to stop him.

The movie is for general audiences and not Sonic fans specifically, so unfortunately they're gonna have to dumb it down a little to bring people in.
Remember, as far as a lot of people know, Sonic stopped _existing_ at Sonic 2.

This movie is looking to be a prequel to the whole game series, which would explain why Sonic is acting more childish, why Robotnik isn’t called Eggman yet (he really doesn’t look like an egg yet), and why the human world is separate from Sonic’s world. With the shot from the first trailer of Jim Carrey in Sonic’s world, I can easily see this movie going the route of having him go insane and somehow dimensionally merge the two worlds to lead to a world similar with what we got in Adventure, Adventure 2, Unleashed, etc.
