When I buy a vehicle my three largest priorities are safety, reliability, and practicality which most car reviewers rarely mention.

@@cia9419 I disagree. While they need to improve their Lane trace ability it’s just as good in my opinion. I’ve been driving this car for a year and a half.

I had an accident in my '15 Crosstrek where I could have been seriously injured in other vehicles. I felt like I was protected by a steel barrier. I'm surprised it's not on this list.
It's for 2024 models

I have a mazda cx5, and I strongly believe it should have made the list. This car is truly underrated.
The cx5 and cx50 are technically the same cx 50 just has a more rugged look
No cx -5? Interesting
Not practical
Subaru! ❤always the best
Surprised that the Subaru Forrester and Crosstrek aren’t mentioned!
They both have alot of problems 😕
Im glad the IIHS updated their ratings because a couple years ago it seemed like all the common cars were all getting top safety pick. I feel like it should only have like 2 top safetey pick + per category and maybe a couple more top safety picks.
Mazda CX-30!
Theese days Mazda is like Volvo in the past. In terms of safety. Thank God not in “reliability” :)
Mazda ❤
Another fair and good review
Thanks for the great video!
Just one question that pops into my head --> What about moose tests? How is that not a part of safety?
Since you've been touting, bought and are recommending the Mazda 3, l'm giving that Hatch a second look. And since l'm getting older and don't challenge those "apexes" as l did in years past, the Torsion Beam Rear Suspension has lost its significance. So, that puts the Maz 3, the Prius and the Corolla Hatchback at the top of the list. (The HR-V Hybrid gets scratched).
Thank you for your guidance.🙏
Picked up a Mazda3 in February and loving it. I wanted AWD so corolla wasn't an option, if I lived in a warmer climate I would have considered it. The Prius is fantastic as well but with demand/dealer markups it just wasn't worth it to me.
Great episode. Thanks
Interesting. I can see that RAV4 didn't make the list. Does that mean it is unsafe?
No, not at all.
Ioniq 6 is top safety pick too. This is just his recommendation
Was the Kia EV9 tested, if so is it unsafe?
Hyundai Kona!! New 2025 Limited AWD will be my next leased SUV. Glad to see it in the Top Pick+ list, even though many TH-cam creators hate on the front and rear lights bulging out like Marty Feldman's eyes in Young Frankenstein.
I bought the Honda HR-V sport.
Which car is better between these 2 for a family of 5, one child using a car seat? Honda CRV EX AWD and a Toyota RAV4 LE AWD?
🍊 okay bro but be really careful because those Tanaka airbags have been recalled they can deploy and make sure you're not driving a Honda that needs a airbag replacement or retrofit take care dude
The awards they always spotlight don't usually sway a thing for me. The organizations they come from aren't commonly consistent so what do we know about the guidelines at a ceiling level? Curious. Also every model seems to have one in commercials, haha. My main focus will always be a fox hole session on what materials they used for everything.
Kia seltos, subaru Forester , Hyundai Sonata, mazda 3 hatchback are these safe?
I might buy the Toyota Camry. Test drove one a couple of years ago and the 8 speed transmission was hunting for gears the entire test drive. Hope Toyota has straightened out that problem in 2024.
2025 Camry will all be Hybrids. I think they all will have their eCVT trans.
Really surprised how Mazda is rocking it! I was raised in the ‘90’s so to see such a great turn around…good for them!
Hyundai did pretty well!
Would be nice to see the price for each car too
Oxymoron. My cousin had Jeep Compass. After 3 years, car won't start. Won't start, won't move...safe vehicle sitting in a garage.
So happy to see Mercedes Benz GLC 300
Mazda cx 30 or cx 50
Excellent
Great video!
Love Mazda
Changing of the guard. Volvo and Subaru were always the top safety award winners. Glad to see Hyundai motor group get top safety ratings as an affordable vehicles.
Where is GM? CEO Mary B. has been talking about improving quality and safety for years now.
In the trash can
WOW the Japanese beat the Americans on their own soil 😅
I always look for the J on the VIN.
Of course. Japanese makes some of the greatest products in general. And if you think about it, a lot of products in America are not even made in America.
That mean they’re honest & trustworthy with their test. Do you think Japanese are honest & trustworthy as they do?
I use the Insurance Losses data and the Death Rate in Cars, both available from links on iihs site. Nothing wrong with looking at crash test data, but the real world is what we live in and hopefully don't die in before we have to. I suggest one looks at Korean cars real world data. Mazda is good, but look at Subaru's history, especially the Outback. It is very safe in the real world. In regard to electric cars, I don't want my house to burn-down, nor being trapped in a car which explodes --- no thanks!
Good point. I heard someone tell once that there is a correlation of safety and the number of seats a car has. In other words, the more seats a car has the more likely driver will be in an accident. This may be skewed by younger drivers and that’s who I’m shopping for right now. I’m looking to find that data too.
I think your wrong, where is crosstrek and forester?
Where does the Subaru Forester come out?
Mazda3
No RAV4 ?
The 2024 Tesla Model Y received the "top safety pick +" award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) after scoring near perfect in crash tests. The IIHS made the tests more stringent this year, but the Model Y still earned the highest possible score. The Model Y also has the highest IIHS rating for pedestrian safety.
The Model Y scored near-perfect results in the Adult Occupant Protection category, with an outstanding score of 97%. The highest score of any vehicle tested in this protocol.
Model Y received a leading score of 98 percent in Euro NCAP's Safety Assist category. This was thanks to Tesla Vision, the camera vision and neural net processing system that comes standard in all Tesla vehicles in North America and Europe.
In another win for Tesla, a test track video released by the voluntary car safety performance assessment program Euro NCAP showed that the Model Y outperformed all other cars tested in the safety assist category.
Tesla uses byd batteries
End of story
@@JonySmith-bb4gx I am not sure what story you are referring to.
Only the German-built RWD Model Y/3 uses BYD batteries. My understanding is that the blade battery is a great battery.
"Tesla works with multiple battery suppliers, including Panasonic, its longtime partner, as well as LG Energy Solutions, the second largest battery supplier in the world. They supply the EV maker with cells containing nickel and cobalt.
China's CATL has been supplying LFP batteries to Tesla for cars made at its Shanghai plant since 2020. It’s also been reported that BYD Company (OTC Pink:BYDDF,SZSE:002594) is supplying Tesla with the Blade battery - a less bulky LFP battery - which the car manufacturer has used in some of its models in Europe."

Stop shifting topics and prove your claims above . I ll wait
@@JonySmith-bb4gx What question? I made no claims. I cut and pasted from the IIHS and NCAP website.
@@JonySmith-bb4gx oh, your 50 cent army. I think you were assigned to respond to my comments on another video (the BYD commercial)
I saw a video from IIHS that the 2024 CRV had a poor rating, due to the back seat belts and also back seats in a front crash. Any comments?
Yeah it does suck but everything else seems good, hopefully Honda fixes that issue for the 2025 model.
Vehicles can actually get a top safety pick award while failing one of the subcategories. It’s a little more stringent to get the top safety pick plus award. The CRV did great in most areas but super poorly in rear passenger safety (presumably a major concern for folks buying a CRV). There is a lot to parse with these awards. I don’t think reviewers generally do a very good job really explaining how it all works. I’m glad that C.H.C is at least highlighting the safety issue, which does seem to fall by the wayside altogether for most reviewers.
I suprise 4runner is not in the list. Are they not safe?? I'm planning to get one.
Eh it didn’t do the greatest on the tests on the overlap driver side.
@@MochaFrap4 Really? You mean rollover test,

Thank you so much.
Someone, write a list of the listed cars in the order announced in the video, unfortunately the brands and models are not written on the screen, and it’s not convenient to listen to
There are numerous vehicle manufacturers that aren't mentioned in this review based on criticism and not including Euro NCAP which have vehicles that are also being sold in USA & Canada. In the aforementioned list he highlighted, I'd choose Toyota just because of the better reliability - but you have to stress w/the scandalous dealership sketchy sales tactics and learn to foot down say no to their ridiculous rip-off add-ons.
So Hyundai Elantra went from terrible ( real world death and injury rate ) to best in class? Interesting. Not impossible -- nothing is impossible. I will wait to judge the new entry once the real world data comes out for death rate in cars and insurance loss data before calling it a victory for Hyundai. It does sound promising -- we shall see if it holds true. So many cars fail in the real world, which show as safe when tested. Don't believe me, then look it up! Of course the modern day cars are all safer than those we drove decades ago --- We lived through that period, or I would not be typing this, and you would not be reading this.
No Nissan X-Trail? Interesting
I use the Insurance Losses data and the Death Rate in Cars, both available from links from the one he mentioned. Sorry, no way can I post links on TH-cam. Nothing wrong with looking at crash test data, but the real world is what we live in and hopefully don't die in before we have to. I suggest one looks at Korean cars real world data. Mazda is good, but look at Subaru's history, especially the Outback. It is very safe in the real world. They really hate American cars.
Where is my Rav?
I wonder how far these results would prove effective in certain situations. What if a very heavy safety pick has a head on crash with a compact safety pick!
wow toyota rav4 didnt even malke it!!!
Hyundais and kias might survive a crash but wont survive those recalls.... especially with them burning down to the ground with your family in it amh
Honda CR-V got a poor mark: th-cam.com/video/FvmgLpZVAfE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1on1SLJ4Tx1oLXNs
Do Not Park an electric vehicle in your garage at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! think your wrong about ev fires...
He’s wrong bout few things, if he mentions Hyundai, well he definitely is wrong!
Hyundai is still on the list of least reliable since 2016.
Wow 🤩 Hyundai and KIA winning awards 😂
This is the first…
Tesla Model Y and 3 should be mentioned by name. Tesla makes the most electric vehicles and is not mentioned!
You wanna bet the next video will include fords?
electric cars winning top awads for safety xd, sure makes you trust them

No thanks. Overpriced rubbish full of whistlers and bells I don't need or want. I'll keep my 1962 Morris Minor 1000.o
