    Watching this A, because I love your videos and B, because I need to use the last of my tallow & watching soaping videos gives me that extra little nudge to get going. I always want to soap, it's just getting *started*, lol.
    Also, realizing your small pitcher is my big pitcher is a weird feeling. One day I'll make large batches like yours. Now is not the time.

    Lovely video Holly, discovered you not long again, having started soaping about 3-4 months ago. Made a 50% Pink Clay Salt Bar a couple of days ago, first time ever. Using mini square soap bar silicon moulds for gifting, and also for getting some feedback. Salt bars for soap seem to really fascinate me. I definitely like the hard bar effect. Your recipe is lovely, I think I will try something like your recipe with the peppermint. Thank you for explanations about salt & superfatting in the beginning. You are certainly easy to watch and listen to. 🤩✨

I wasn't able to be in the studio for a couple of weeks so I really got set back. The Honey Vanilla Latte Soap is curing and is currently scheduled to be ready later in September.

    • @moriversoap

    ❤❤❤❤❤ Your sea salt is one of favorites adding peppermint to it, took it over the top for me. I will be orderingsomesoon. 😊😊
    Does using the buttermilk instead of goat milk this time change it much compared to how you did in the past?

      Thank you! I don't have any sea salt soaps made yet since I reopened. I hope to start incorporating them very soon. I don't notice a lot of difference between the milks though goat milk tends to add a hint more of a creamy feel.

      Thank you Michael! I prefer the Kalona Supernaturals version but have used the regular from the grocery store with the same results. That being said, I refuse to use it as a full milk soap (mixing with the lye from frozen) because it always curdles. It's such a pain using it that way.

    I have been soaping for sometime. I found working with essential oils my batch sometimes becomes soap on a stick. I use the IFRA standards when measuring out my essential oils. I use full water at 38%. My question is how can I stop soap on a stick using essential oil? I normally end up doing FO/EO to stop the soap on a stick.

    • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm...are you using them at a general 5% or less or the full approved amount via the IFRA usage rate?

    Quick question, do you not have the same regulations we have in the uk when making soaps? Here we have to have our individual recipes certified by a cosmetic chemist and we cannot deviate from that recipe at all. It’s very frustrating and takes away any creativity but it’s the law here. I see so many American soapers trying out different scents and ingredients so I wondered if you are free to do that and are not as restricted as we are. Thanks for the great videos :)

    • @jja918
      @jja918 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We are not restricted like the UK.

    • @StephanieTX
      @StephanieTX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We do not have those restrictions here in the states. I think they are requirements with the labeling of the soap. I know you have to list the ingredients and the weight of the bar. Also you can only claim it will get you clean.

    • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    • @charliet.5123

      As long as it’s not a cosmetic, soap is very loosey goosey in both labeling and contents!

    • @SeattleDonna206
      @SeattleDonna206 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      A bit of history for you. Soapers fled England risking their lives in tiny boats to make soap in full freedom without restrictions. We have never looked back with regret. ~ We ended up fighting on our new lands for freedom in soap making . When we caught those pesky British troops we washed out their mouths with soap. >

    • @michami1979
      @michami1979 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Salt bars are different to soap bars. They need cutting a couple of hours after making. If left over night they would be too hard and would just crumble due to the salt content.

    • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The time frame would be too long. I had made these around 11:30am and cut at 8pm. I try to be out of the studio by 5-6pm and usually don't get back up there until 10am due to family responsibilities.
