    Holly's soaps are so wonderful, you'll re-soap yourself several times in the bath or shower, the bubbles are devine and the end result is delightful! I am hoarding my last two bars from Mo Soap!!! I do make my own, thanks to Holly's inspiration and I still aspire to get as close to her perfection as possible. From beginning to the end packaging is so decadent.

    Finally, someone I can relate to when it comes to the amount of coconut oil to use! I feel a lot more comfortable now with my thinking on this issue knowing you being creating beautiful soap for years and are an expert. My soap doesn't really get bubbly. Its more of a creamy lather and I think its because I use Shae Butter, Cocoa Butter and lard. Then again it could be all in my head LOL! • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard from many, many people that they cannot handle coconut at even a moderate level. If you want to increase bubbles, you could add a sugar as Sarah mentioned or castor oil if you don't already.

    • @shaydelady1508
      @shaydelady1508 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moriversoap Thank you and @Sarah Conklin for the great advice. What would be the best sugar to use and about what percentage rate? Will it discolor or speed up acceleration? • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shaydelady1508 I usually get the sugar boost via the milks and/or honey. I personally don't have much issue with accelerated trace but of course every recipe is different. Definitely keep an eye out that the batch doesn't over heat. I use about 1 oz of honey in a 240 oz oil batch. For adding just sugar, I think 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp PPO of oil would be good. Maybe others will chip in with more info.

    I always like watching how people fold their livers because geometry escapes me. One thing I do to make less wiggle room from end to end etc.- I place a block of wood or ruler that fits that has a nice edge, slap it down on one end, use another to smooth it to the opposite end. put your had on top of that so it can't slip. Flip the ruler up toward the top, fold over the edge and tape quickly it really help keep sharp edges. I hope this is more clear than mud.

    Hi Holly, I watched clear till the end to see that gorgeous lather test and labeling. I love coffee soaps and this one looks beautiful. No your right you don't necessarily need a coffee fragrance in your coffee soap! Vanilla is probably enough Although I'm really in love with a Coffee Late fragrance from Nurture Soap. Gosh it smells so good! You want to just kick back in a warm bath and lather up. I haven't tried it in cold process. I buy it to use in my coffee scrub and matching clay mask.
    I'm like you, I love a balanced bar and those tighter, creamier bibbles of a classic balanced bar of soap. It looked absolutely lovely. My bars are 4' tall so no boxes for me! I wish they'd make the taller boxes for those of us that make a longer thicker bar. Mone happen to be 4x2.5x2.5, yeah they are about a quarter inch thicker than most, but I want my customer's to feel like they've gotten a good deal. It's not something at this point I'd want to change. Now my bars that are made with essential oils will fit in boxes. I make them a bit smaller to keep down the costs for my customers. Some oils have gotten rather expensive. I didn't make my Christmas soap this year because Frankincense and Myrh have gotten so expensive. I hope with the supply chain getting better as the year moves on things get better and we will be able to get everything we need at better prices!

    @Missiouri River Soap, Holly, I love your videos. I love your products, why don't you have someone make you silicone liners for all your molds? It would be one less step, you clean dishes already, you would just be adding the liner to clean and less money on the paper spent to line the molds over and over again. Maybe in one of your videos you used a silicone liner and gave your input, but I have yet to run across a video of you using one. What are your thoughts on using silicone liners? I would love to start my own soap making "thing" someday (probably won't happen) but if you could give some details why you do not use silicone liners would be awesome :)

    • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually don't like the silicone liners. I dislike how they fit and I dislike washing them. However, I would consider them again to have less waste. We do recycle all our paper items. I have used silicone quite often. I just don't have any for the large molds that I work with. I have looked at many large wooden molds and it would cost well over $1000 to replace my current molds whereas a roll of freezer paper is $30. I have been using it since last year and haven't made a dent in it yet. I wonder what people think I should do with the freezer paper at this point? Do I just let it sit on my shelf for years unused or do I use it all the while thinking about alternative options? I don't speak every thought in my video but always get questioned and it does get tiring.

    • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The lye was appropriate for the batch size. You can add in the grounds but they can be extra scratchy if not a 'used' ground. Additionally, they can bleed/create a halo effect in soap. It's really a personal preference. 😊

    Get that espresso machine out of the box! You will not want to go back to regular coffee once you start making your own espresso. My daughter was spending about $100 a week at Scooters our local coffee express drive through. We now make our own iced mocha lattes at home and they are better then the coffee shops. Yum

      It's actually been on my counter for half the time. Haha! I was watching videos this weekend. It sounds like we just need to take the time to do measure, grind, and pour tests so we can find what we like. We like really strong coffee so even Scooters is weak for us, but we do love one of their blended drinks from time to time. They are wildly expensive for sure. I have been buying the cold brewed unsweetened coffee from Starbucks/grocery store and it makes excellent iced coffees and frapps too.

      It wasn't really that soft as hopefully you can see in the video. Did the fragrance oil reverse trace by any chance? If I have softer batches, it tends to be because either it didn't gel (rarely happens unless I am working with a silicone mold) or the fragrance reversed the trace.

    As an herbalist in training i feel compelled to say that heating honey loses a lot of beneficial medicinal properties. Even for skin.

    • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      In soap, honey creates bubbles from the sugars. The saponification process alone will eliminate most beneficial medicinal properties if there were to be any. We cannot make any medical claims about our soaps. The only thing we can say they do is cleanse the skin...because it's soap! 😊
