    UPDATE: Matt Law [Telegraph] reports that an ownership sale won't happen but Clearlake might look to increase their equity share.

    Todd is the sports guy, he wants to sort the stadium, he wants to win trophies, Clearlake are asset management, they manage assets, they have applied this to footballers, hence the transfer business, buy, manage, sell. Todd made clear at the beginning that he believes the best way to profit as a sports team is to win trophies. He's taken the public backlash for all of the collective owners decisions, he's the nearest thing we will ever get to another Roman.

    I am familiar with Boehly’s actions when he got involved with the LA Dodgers. Boehly does not bull shit around. He has his belief system in how to build a championship team and he is ruthless in that pursuit. He sold veteran proven MLB players, loaded up with young talent and built a team that won championships and competed for league titles and championships year in and year out. I will admit I don’t know much about the Clearlake guys but Boehly renovated the Dodgers stadium and made it more fan friendly. It took a few seasons but even now no team in the MLB looks forward to a series against the Dodgers. He is a competitive dude that only accepts winning. He also has not runaway from taking all the heat that has been directed at the club over the last two seasons. Getting the stadium up for fans has to be a priority for Boehly. Knowing what I know as a Chelsea fan I can only hope he is the last man standing. Sorry for the short story guys. Todd Boehly is a bad MF’er and has connections in the Saudi world of business. Don’t sell him short. If he is bought out he will invest in another team because he sees potential and loves competition.

      I don't follow baseball, but I've seen rave reviews about the Dodgers almost everywhere. That's also what got me invested into the current consortium over others. To move away from that for me is like having a whole different custodian.

    "Behdad and Boehly are exploring options to buy each other out"
    TRANSLATION:
    They are both looking for legal and financial ways to get rid of the other and take full control of the club's direction.

  • @GavP75
    @GavP75 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

    Boehly would have to get different partners to be able to buy out Clearlake. Boehly is driven by making sports teams successful both on and off the field. Clearlake are looking for profit, how they want to go about that has always been a question.
    The problem Boehly had was the club was sold as the transfer window opened, we had Rudi and Chris leaving on frees. Alonso, Werner and Azpi wanted to leave and Lukaku didn't want to play for us. Cech decided to leave despite him being asked to stay. I suspect Marina and the rest of the board had to go due to the irregularities found in the books. TT didn't want to get involved in transfers.
    So we had no time to get a sporting director in with players we quickly needed to replace not to mention the players that weren't good enough and injuries - which we continued to have that season and last season. Boehly made errors no doubt, but the situation played a large part of that imo.

    • @hnaku8748
      @hnaku8748 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      From a fan's perspective I would certainly choose the Boehly approach of seriously trying to win, rather than the current. I think a certain balance can be hit even with current consortium if they come to their senses. It's like they suffer so much PTSD from the first window that they refuse to budge even a bit in the other direction again. We need to overcome that and find a balance.
      I want us to be a football club, not a financial corporation.

  • @FootballTherapy

And I do think Eghbali cares and is interested in the sporting side of things and making Chelsea good again, but he approaches it through the lens of the corporate board/asset management aspect of it all before anything else. They both care, they just have different priorities. They need like a mediating voice between them. PS, I have only read the caption... So this comment is my hot take.
    I think Todd is not the problem, but Clearlake is... Todd's first instinct as bad as it was, was to buy experience players whom the streets said were good and could help...
    Then boom, they got sporting directors and all that nonsense and the ship went a different direction, and I think they chose to listen to the members with the most votes in the board, and that's Clearlake, and they went with their vision...
    And that's how Todd lost his own direction of buying experienced players and we started going the data analytics route with the SDs...

      But there has been some positives from it. We managed to get Palmer, Paez/Estevao who look to be promising talents. The best is to get a good mixof young and lld which I don't get why it can't happen. If both owners can't see eye to eye how can the fans trust the long term process they are trying to do. Yan what is clear is the relationship between the owners has deteriorated, it’s not a question of us being sold, rather of one buying the other out. I can imagine Clearlake were disappointed with Bohely procurement strategy with most of those players leaving, along with the management fiascos. At the same time the CEO change suggests commercially Clearlake failed to deliver (sponsorship?).
    It was always destined for trouble, multiple owners who are actively involved will lead to clashes over strategy and when billions are involved it amplifies that ambiguity. Not sure which ownership I’d prefer, or who’s responsible for the recent strategy but I suspect Clearlake are the one who want Bohely out.

They’re good, and the good moves Chelsea have made in recent times (Palmer, Noni, Jackson, Lavia, etc.) are not moves that would have been made under Roman.
    We have to be honest Roman’s model is unsustainable. If Bohley thinks the Premier League is like the NBA where you win by just trading for the big players and the only thing restricting you is the size if your market, he’s just wrong.

    • @SirEEf13
      @SirEEf13 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Honestly I don't think the transfer strategy changed too much. We just found sporting directors that are better equipped for the job because they know more about the sport.
      Now those guys don't just get to do whatever. They'll still be given a certain direction the club wants to move in. I think Boehly or whoever told them what they want and they just deliver as best as they can.
      Yes we bought big guns like Sterling, Koulibaly and Aubameyang but we also brought in many more young talented for both peanuts as well as serious money.
      The same repeated in the 2 windows after. Couple older players and then a bunch of talents for the future in various price ranges.
      Same thing again this summer.
      And if anything I think Boehly is completely on board with signing kids and forming them to a winning team rather than getting established players. I don't follow Baseball but what I hear is that the Dodger follow a similar strategy and are very successful with it.
      I also don't think that the transfer strategy is what splits opinions in the board. Pretty sure they talked about who to get in and who to sell. Also pretty sure that there are a lot of other factors to consider. Maybe the signings are fine for both but one isn't happy with who exactly we sold to make space. Maybe one of them had the job of securing a sponsor by now and the other is annoyed that this hasn't happened. Maybe they are taking turns in which manager to pick and both aren't happy with the other's decision(s).
      I feel like we have enough information about the transfers, given how they gather so much attention, that we can pretty safely assume that that isn't the biggest problem at hand.

    Did you notice Boeley storming off in a high profile huff when we went 0-2 against Man City? I thought something was up. Eghbali is very aggressive. Definitely a case of two alpha males in the same cave. Eghbali will come out the winner because Clearlake have more shares. Whether that is good for Chelsea remains to be seen. Abramovitch loved football and got it. Eghbali thinks the whole thing is a cunning game of financial chess. Not convinced that chess and football are the same thing. We will get there in the end, it just may take a couple more years, especially if the shareholders of Clearlake start to question their return on capital on this project.
    My prognosis: Boeley storms out of this, we end up changing managers this season or next, Chelsea come 7th this season and don't win the Conference, Clearlake shareholders tell Eghbali to stop using/abusing their money on a personal vanity project that he doesn't really understand, club brings in a pro as CEO, we get there in the end.
    My only upset is that we didn't move the ground to Earls Court (which is actually in the borough of Chelsea, not Fulham). Is there an Arsenal fan that still laments not still being at Highbury? This is all down to the fat cab drivers in the Mathew Harding stand who claim to represent the Chelsea fan base, when actually they don't.

    This may not be good news for us. I think while the owners have done a lot wrong they have also done a lot right. I don't know who's responsible for the good things we done but with Boehly having experience owning a sports franchise I can only assume the good things have come from him. If so the bad news is that you wouldn't have thought it's likely Boehly could buy out Clearlake which means we could lose the only boardroom influence that could be behind the good things like having a wage bracket linked to the clubs current finances meaning if we're in the CL we pay more, Buying player's, hiring a coach, hiring SD'd that all share the same philosophy on playing style. Buying players who are almost certainly going to increase in value. Without Boehly we might not be offering players like Palmer such long extensions after they deserved it through performances and I wouldn't be surprised if Clearlake would offer shorter term deals with selling clauses at a figure that would be tempting to the Real's, Bayern's, PSG's and City's of this world.

    Two sides to this. Have an ownership group which spends a lot on young talent and data but expects returns to appeal to shareholders of Clearlake or have an owner willing to spend on some experience and youth talent but has lack of capital and will need further investors to execute plans.

    I'd rather we used our resources intelligently and tried to actually compete instead of wasting those resources, failing to compete, and potentially getting overtaken by Newcastle before they've even made their transition into a big spending team.
    If all we're doing with our money is flushing them down the toilet on players that don't actually do anything for us then we're not really any better off than Newcastle were when they couldn't spend any money at all. The difference in utility value between having no money and having money that you use to buy something useless is zero.
    We're not the team with the most resources to work with and so competing means using what resources we have more effectively than those competitors with more resources. If we fail to do that then we're not very likely to be in a position to compete.

      From the articles I have read. Our ownership is basically split into two factions Clearlake and Blue Co can’t remember the split maybe 60/40 in Clearlake’s favour. Essentially Clearlake want full control. Todd the rep for Blue Co and Egbhali (probably spelling that wrong) the rep for Clearlake are beefing hence why one is trying to buy out the other. So either blue Co or Clearlake will control the club unless they learn to kiss and make up.Never a dull day for Chelsea 😅

    The thing I don’t understand with this, is if they were planning to do something with the stadium why have they spent over £1 billion on players? And £1 billion that hasn’t strengthened the squad. £1 billion that has unbalanced the squad. And now they’re fighting, allegedly, about buying each other out. Here it is in the Intl break and the chaos at Chelsea never stops.

    • @ChampStan

      But have made many many sales as well as buying. It just looks like the two just can't see eye to eye on long term strategy so they want to part ways rather than let this affect the whole club. The stadium rebuild looks like the best way is to relocate but the CPO won't have any of it

    • @hnaku8748
      @hnaku8748 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Stadium costs don't count towards FFP if I'm not wrong, as long as it is somehow funded by an entity (which Roman was personally capable of without being accountable to anyone else). In our current business model we'd have to fund it through an external investment (basically they'd seek a return). So we've implemented the player sale model with them being treated like commodities to raise funds for it. At the cost of even some on pitch suffering. It's how I see it.
