I love how Anand kept that light squared bishop trapped and didn't even have to capture it to win the game. This game was absolute pure genius by the tiger of Madras.
Anand took that bishop hostage and negotiated the way to a win. Always threatening to, but never really killing it. What a game! But h6 followed by bg6 is an insane combo. I wasn't able to figure it out even after seeing the move on board. So counterintuitive!!
This game is now right up there with Ivanchuk's King on D4 game, Ivanchuk's Immortal against Kasparov, as my favourite games of past chess. This was unbelievable.
I wonder if we can have a tournament or show where later players, for example Carlsen or Liren are asked to defend a losing position from random past games, and see what they are able to do to save the game.

In 1639 there was a battle in Scotland called Bishops' Wars. I think that's an appropiate name for this game. You will hardly see such amount of gore provoked by the bishops.
White's Bishop dint even move in the entire game yet had such an impact!! Anand's game is very similar to my game where I have such bishops / pieces positioned in their original square while I get checkmated.

Anand became much more passive after becoming world champion and many, including anand himself, say that his style during his time as wc was boring.
