The 2021 FIDE World Cup is a 206-player knockout taking place in Krasnaya Polyana, near Sochi, Russia from July 12 to August 6. The prize fund is almost $1.9m, with $110,000 for the winner, while the finalists also qualify for the 2022 Candidates Tournament. The top 50 players, who include world nos 1 and 2 Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana, are seeded directly into Round 2.
Each match consists of two classical games where the players have 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment from move 1. If tied, a playoff will be held on the 3rd day. There are two 25+10 rapid games followed, if needed, by two 10+10 games, then two 5+3, and finally an Armageddon game, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black. No draw offers are allowed until after move 30. Official website: worldcup.fide.com

Interesting thing is, we in India have this local version of chess where 4 exceptions are there-
    1. No castling
    2. King and opponents queen is on E file and similarly for black on D file
    3. No two square jumping of pawns on first move (en passant is later addition to patch problems it creates)
    4. Promotion based on which piece square originally belongs to (E and D for queen C F for bishop and so on)

9:03 And for those of you who just want to enjoy the show, it's Qxa6. It looks crazy, but it gets the job done. Now we get Ne4+, Kd3, and bxa6. So you may look at this and wonder, where's the compensation for the sacrificed queen? But with white's queenside pawn majority the plan is clear, so clear in fact that it was in this position that Anand resigned the game, as there is nothing more to be done.

A very interesting variation of Chess that has yet to be explored in my opinion where pieces you control can swap position with each other under certain rules, so long as one of the pieces can move to where the other one is under normal piece movement.
It makes much sense if we consider medieval diplomacy as the quivalent of this swap or delgation of functions, however to keep in line with this concept we use hierarchy to determine which pieces can delegate onto which, the King, can swap with all, the Queen with all but the King, Rooks with all but the Royal family, clergy and nobles amongst themselves and with peasants and pawns can swap but that is pointless.
Also, pawns can only be delegated up to the penultimate rank before promotion.
Lastly, delgation counts as a move at all times and is illegal if the king is or will be in check.
    What do you think Agadmator?
