    What's your favorite Winter Adventure destination?

    I pack like I'm flying even though I only flew once last year. It's helpful even on road trips. I don't need makeup or hair tools but I have to keep prepared for our special needs child. Simplifying has made big impact in lots of areas

    My “winter” trip is to the Midwest every other year for football. It can get below 30 on that trip. I’ve invested in snowboarding pants for my four hours sitting outside plus layers. It all fits in a carryon plus personal item.

    Great video content, as I am continuously working towards packing more efficiently with each trip we take. Yes to black as a outfit foundation color, YakTrax, hairties on the brush handle, and limited hair washing. I will be using some of your tips when my husband and I visit my side of the family for Christmas in Chicago via car. We are already prepared for cold weather since we have both were born, raised and have always lived in the Midwest. 😁❤️Thanks. Have a blessed Christmas season with family and friends! 🎄❤️❄️

    Thank you for this Winter packing video. It is the most challenging season since warm clothes/boots are often take up more room than other seasons' clothes/shoes. I am a brand new subscriber. 😁🥶🌨️❄️🙄✌️☀️☺️
    Those YakTrax really work. Yes! ☺️
    I am currently reading "The Art of Hearing Heartbeats" and listening to "The Year of Less" and "I Want to Thank You". ☺️

    I was loving the size of the packable blanket….where did find that one? Is it warm? Thanks for the tips!

      The blanket is a Sea to Summit Thermolite sleeping bag liner that I got at REI about 7 years ago and it is very thin, but very warm. Because of how I've got my settings in order to eliminate trolls, I can't post a link here, but if you go to my video 5 Carry On Essentials, I have a link to a similar one on Amazon 😀

    I am interested in what time of year you went to Iceland. I am going to Iceland the first week of April 2023 and am unsure what to bring. If you have a video of packing for that trip I would appreciate a link. Thank you.

      I was there in February 2018, it was before I started this channel so I don't have a packing video for that, but you might check out my Packing for Alaska video for some ideas. Layers and good rain gear are key...even if it doesn't rain you'll probably be around a lot of waterfalls. My favorite items I took to Iceland were my Columbia Titanium OutDry Puffy Jacket and a pair of fleece lined leggings 😊. If you watch Tim and Finn's channel, I believe she just posted a video recently of what she packed for Iceland this year. Sorry I can't put links in this reply, but they should be easy to find!

    I do not know what you like to read obviously but here are some of my favorites. Dan Silva series (22 books) about Gabriel Allon an Israeli spy. The writing is very good. Deborah Harkness All Souls Trilogy about witches, vampires and demons in today's world.. It is also a series on AMC+. And, my very favorite, Louise Penny's series on Inspector Armand Gamach of the Surete in Montreal. A wonderful writer whose characters stay with you. She also penned book with Hiliary Clinton recently which was very good. Hope you enjoy some or all of these.

    I recommend anything by Mary Roach. She makes even disgusting things sound fascinating. Or if you like animals, anything by James Herriot. If you’ve seen any of the “All Creatures Great and Small”, (they’ve done a couple of versions over the years), that’s him.

      I’ll have to look up Mary Roach! I actually read the “Creatures Great and Small” series when I was in high school, loved them 😊

    I wanted to bring my hiking poles to Peru and when I looked it up on the TSA website they said that hiking poles were not permitted in carry-ons how do you get around this?

    • @GenxGypsy1968
      @GenxGypsy1968  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my case, because I get a free checked bag on American, I've always packed them in my checked bag. Flying internationally, you should get a "free" checked bag too. Do your hiking poles collapse into three sections or do they telescope (slide into each other)? If you're wanting to do carry on only, from what I've read from a couple of other bloggers, is that TSA is more concerned about what could be stored inside the poles not the actual pointy end. So if your poles collapse, and you fold them up in your carry on, you could get by with them. Unfortunately, there's no way to know until you actually get to the TSA line though. Sorry, I'm not much help here!
