i thought maybe the 2 on the left are in same space cos they both have a black beam running along the ceiling. not same beam, but could be from same architectural space.
Emily Heath I actually think they are all together at the moment. You know they’ve been doing these zoom dance classes for a few weekends before the protests started and more will take place I imagine when it seems right again. Plus they did that last film clip that from what I read they filmed at their parents place. Not sure of that’s true but they certainly were all together. 🤷🏻♂️ It’s fun speculating!
I totally agree. HAIM always sounded best on the album before this, unfortunately. I don’t know how they did it, but they really upped the quality of their live performance.
I think this is the closest they’ve ever sounded to the album. They would always change the music for live performances in the past, but IMO it was still good, just very different.
Does anyone else feel like the album actually is coming in at the best time?I’ll be listening to this all summer! Out for drive, working in the garden, kiddie pool side (unless you have a real pool lucky!) literally perfect for summer
I've recently gotten into Haim. I'm sure I'm not the first to point out that 'Summer Girl' sounds like an homage to "Walk on the Wild Side." I love this whole performance.
Danielle recorded all 3 songs live (obviously) with the iPhone in selfie mode. Audio recorded on an UAD Apollo 4. She emails Este and Alana the video and then they do the same watching and listening to the video of Danielle on their laptop or ipad. All 3 videos lined up and that’s that!
@@arik4b thanks. I was wondering that too. On my journey, I found a great article on the topic. Google: Medium › why-cant-musicians-jam-... Web results Why can't musicians jam with each other online without latency or other issues
The amount of musical instrument mastery is pretty mind blowing. Their sound and vibe truly felt like we were at their rehearsal in an intimate concert venue. Amazing!
I never wanted this to end 😔 This latest album is a masterpiece and I love hearing bits of Rostam's signature on this as well. The Haim gals never disappoint
@@juankplaysmusic That's sad.Notice how the majority of the governments told their people to stay inside when they were suppose to be getting in the sun.
I've loved this band for several years now and they we're great in the beginning from their lyrics to their cool Cali attitude, and I'm happy that success hasn't changed them.
They blew me away at this year's Grammys. I bought their latest album because of that performance alone. They're just badass! I love the different and unexpected textures of their music...very unique sound and their musical parts just mesh beautifully in my opinion. No wonder Taylor(love her too!) hangs with them! They seem like they're a lot of fun to be around. Very talented! Hope they tour soon and come down to Texas...like Austin, San Antone or Houston. I'd love to see them live!
Woman in music pt 3 is slowly becoming my favorite album from them, I can't wait to hear the rest of the album but if what they have show us so far is anything to go by I expect it to be full of more bops.
First time Danielle is the only one who says something in a video with her sisters. ^^ Tiny Desk atmosphere is so soothing, and Haim fits this exercise so well ! Cheers from France !
(Feb. 2022 comment.) Ha ha ha! Daniel’s voice though always seems to come through with these two, even when they’re doing almost all of the talking in interviews. I don’t get it. Such an interesting dynamic with them. And she’s a such a genuine emotive rock star singer, musician and performer on stage - a natural rock lightening rod. Such a wonderful life force they each have, individually and together - on stage and in interviews. I can’t wait to see Licorice Pizza, seeing the whole family together in scene(s). I hope the film [and Alana’s future films ;)] bring more and more people to vibe to this naturally feminist art and artists. So rare in our world - regardless of country or time period. 💎💎💎
Firstly, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 HAIM, one of my absolutely favourite bands. Tiny Desk, one of my absolutely favourite TH-cam channels. This is a perfect combination for me. Really enjoyable but way too short of course but this will have to tide me over until we can all go and see HAIM live again. Bring on that Australian tour!! We are ready when you are. Great to see an old Farfisa and that classic Lynn drum machine.
so deeply in love with this new album how they are presenting a whole new Haim landscape that is intentional, mature while still having that edge from earlier albums!
The day after the Beatles were on Sullivan, a crazy big wave of cultural change blasted off inspiring teenage boys to learn to play guitar, bass, drums, keys. Haim, Taylor, Gaga, Miley, Bey and all who are known by one name are bringing an energy many, many times more intense. These artists are bringing much more emotion to their songs. Sixties rock still rocks, but it's not nearly as focused as this is. Do what you can to fan this flame.
Wow, I get so emotional seeing this. I have followed you since I heard you on WNRN in Charlottesville. An independent college station. And I Love the grass roots feeling of your efforts. Your professionalism is outstanding.
I really love them and would love to see them spend a whole EP with veiled lyrical meanings and poetic / random / abstract delivery. I like the straightforward purty stuff a lot, I do. Its just odd tho, that desire to hear them that way too just keeps coming up when I listen to them.
I saw them when they opened for Taylor Swift in 2015. I was an instant fan! They are incredibly tight musicians and write some ultra relatable songs that just groove! Hopefully post pandemic I can see them again as headliners. Until then, these kinds of shows will have to suffice 🤘🏼
I love that for any small artist I find there is always a tiny desk for them. NPR tiny desk is truly one of the most incredible music discovery platforms
Love this! What an amazing way to start my day! The performance was amazing but now I want a behind the scenes sharing how they recorded and mixed this!
I know you don't generally get artists on tiny desk twice but can you make an exception for these guys when things get back to normal and have them at the actual desk?
Awesome set. Always like the stripped down versions on Tiny Desk. I have been following these young ladies for a couple of years - since I first heard Falling. Glad to see they are getting more popular. I know I am showing my age here but anybody else reminded of "Walk on the Wild Side" listening to the bass and sax on summer girl?
somehow i’m surprised they don’t live together even though logically i know that makes sense
we don't know that.
it's probably just different rooms.
or one giant room that they've rigirously divided into 3 parts.
Same lol
I had to tell myself they're adults and that's what adults do even tho their siblings 😂😂
i thought maybe the 2 on the left are in same space cos they both have a black beam running along the ceiling. not same beam, but could be from same architectural space.

They recorded in separate places but all at the same time. Not that hard
that bass in summer girl hits every time
Channeling their inner Lou Reed
Love it too!
@MrTixlot that's called solid rhythm
@MrTixlot Ony thing that let this down was the bass playing. It just was not in the pocket.
The bass line in Summer Girl needs to repeat, it's what everything else is built on.
i would like an actual tiny desk performance once quarantine is over
Me too.
pleaseeee!!!

Danielle smiling when she sings “everyday I wake up and I make money for myself” is everything I needed

the musical talent of HAIM truly shines in stripped back sets like this
Look I've been stanning this band for seven years and this is the best I've ever heard them sound live tbh.
Lacquerware YAAAS STAN HAIM ✨

This is what talent sounds like. So recognisably Haim, yet fresh every time. What a treat.
I get why people like them now. They make “I texted all of my friends plans for tonight, only two responded” music.
Honestly two real friends are all you need :)

album of the year lets go
sophie levitt 100% I have been listening to these on repeat
So you have a car, a garden and a kiddie pool and still dont feel lucky enough?
I've recently gotten into Haim. I'm sure I'm not the first to point out that 'Summer Girl' sounds like an homage to "Walk on the Wild Side." I love this whole performance.
How they can manage to make “I know alone” sound better than the track from the comfort of home proves how amazing they are !
They sound great live . Danielle's voice sounds so great in live performances.
Danielle's voice is what makes this band. It just conveys complex mature emotions in a sexy way
im so impressed by alana being able to pick out that melody while singing like thats so impressive to me
Love the sprinkling of Joni Mitchell allusions in the lyrics. Haim is the best thing to happen to mainstream music since I don't even know.
I'd love to see a behind the scenes of how they set this entire thing up, like the logistics of the whole thing.

I’m so happy for their Grammy nom, they truly release one the best album this year.
wow, "I know alone" left me speachless...they litterally can play anything *_*
....anyone else hoping this gets grammy album of the year?
even just a nomination would feel like a win in my book! but yes, I think these gals have what it takes!!
Yes!
Yes! I was so bummed when they didn't win their nomination for Best New Artist at the GRAMMYS a few years ago.
YES YES TES YES
someone direct the voting committee to this video tbh

I somehow predicted they would start with “The Steps”, very happy that they did

0:02 - *The Steps* (3:59)
4:33 - *I Know Alone* (7:49)

I Know Alone 4:22
Summer Girl 8:20
