Go to a Coldplay concert if you ever have the chance, it's that exact same energy ×1000, except you are part of it during a whole concert. It's a lifechanging experience
I’m shaking from first second of this video. I didn’t know he is such a wonderful artist. I’m crying, I don’t know why. I just want to play piano. He reminds me how music makes life colorful.
It’s not often that backing vocals match - if not outshine - the main act! Nothing against Chris, but the energy, love and smiles from the team standing give this performance a real texture!
I agree but it's not like they are competing. Chris would have arranged this, placing himself as 'other member of the band' instead of the big front guy. He interestingly had an issue with this in the past, like the front man thing was changing his ego or something to that effect and was also getting paid more than the other band members because he was also doing all the press. From then on he chose to split everything equally.
I don’t know why this is making me cry right now. I’m just dealing with a heavy heart because of the covid19 casualties in my country, and this is just what i needed to hear.
Look at how Chris fidgets when he speaks; I admire him for that. Still humble despite all the fame and the numerous times he's performed in front of large crowds.
when theyre singing viva la vida, makes me wanna cry, all this joy and people celebrating music, and now we are stuck inside of the house without making contact with anybody :(
That’s one of the factors I felt in love with Coldplay for . Making money factors means that Coldplay has to produce a big amount of concerts in overcrowded stadiums with people crazily yelling and singing but THE BEST PERFORMANCES and style of Coldplay are glowing in small spaces/small groups of people and acoustic style , I love how the improvise during the patterns of the song making every some different than a concert before … hope they keep playing forever
I wouldn't usually list Coldplay as one of my favorite bands, but this is BY FAR my favorite Tiny Desk concert ever! It brings me so much joy and I've been watching it daily during quarantine to sooth my soul.
I'd recommend you listen to BTS tiny desk concert (it came out yesterday) best thing to listen to if you are searching for happiness and comfort in quarantine :)
I can’t explain what this tiny desk makes me feel .. like you just feel the joy and pure love in every lyric . The love choir is always 🔥 and Chris like sunshine
I saw them live just after Yellow released but they were still (I guess) finishing up the gigs they'd signed up for beforehand - because it was in a small church which could only hold about 150 people. I was right front and centre, I actually took some of Chris' plectrums right from his mic stand when he wasn't looking (I lost them somewhere along the line)
Thanks for putting that up! He mentions the “love choir behind me” but I couldn’t find anything for a group called Love Choir. Do you know what the name of that group of singers is? If they have their own thing
One of childhood to now favorite bands. Especially the 2000s era Coldplay. Golden time. Eveytime i see live versions of some of my fave songs of theirs i fall in love all over again. Chris Martin is such a gem all around❤ Tiny desk concerts are such treats. Im always amazed especially when i see some of my favorites artists on there
Time's are going to get rougher, of course, but the grace we show ... like so evident in this 'concert', will help us make our way. We're going to need collective faith and mutual strength.
Yeah me too! I just know it. Great way to chase away the blues caused by staying indoors and quarantining. Thank you Tiny desk, Coldplay and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
you know Viva La Vida is a song for the ages when it still holds on to it's musical integrity no matter what variation it goes through.. I'm convinced this is my favorite version of the song. There's nothing like a black choir to give a whole new essence of life to a song. amazing!
"And uh... this is Johnny, we've been bestfriends for about 25 years now, and we are in the band called Coldplay..." I really love that Chris always introduce the band. Like, who on earth does not know Coldplay?!
With so much anxiety, political divisiveness, and racism in the world it's so beautiful to see a tiny room filled with such love, such great talent, true happiness, and brilliant soulful music. Your gift of music is a gift to us all.
That’s not a TINY desk concert worth performance this is a sold-out stadium worth performance. This is amazing, they really prepared and rehearsed every bit of it to perfection yet it sounds so effortless and natural.
Maybe They didn't prepare for it... It sounds more like something they have been putting up in Their Rehearsal pads since years maybe, after they were done Working on their Upcoming records or Live Performances... Just for the Sake of Living a Lil. This Sounds very alive, doesn't sound like something someone put in with even a Tad bit of Effort, no tension in their voices nor the Playing...
You could be playing old rusty pots and pans with broken wooden spoons on the pavement and he’d sit cross legged next to you, and add vocals (which would be unbelievably fitting). The guy lives for music. Beautiful.
"And I discovered that my castles stand, on pillars of salt, pillars of sand". I've always thought Viva La Vida was a truly exceptional song, and I'm fairly neutral about Coldplay in general (very good early B-sides though), but my god that lyric has real resonance in the heart of a pandemic.
Yes Ger, I have; It has such a calming, hypnotic melody. I've got a bit addicted to Such a Rush recently. Might be because of the lyric: "Such a rush to do nothing at all, such a rush to get nowhere at all".
I've found most of Mylo Xyloto is doing the same for me right now (Us Against The World, UFO, Every Teardrop, Up In Flames). Coldplay do NOT get enough respect for their lyrics.
Ozymandias by Percy Shelley I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

Lynn Li Low I’m more partial to Andy Shauf’s TinyDesk performance but this is beautiful too!!
Who's here after watching the Lewis Capaldi concert?
He makes the sound at 4:21 :)
thank you for the time lolol
I totally came looking for it and was blown away by the choir and the music too thanks Lewis lol 🫶 “Esk Oo Eh!”
I was gonna watch it after the Lewis Capaldi vid anyway but then he mentioned it and I was searching through the comments for someone to say this! Thanks for the time stamp! (He made the sound as I’m typing this comment 😂)
You’re the best!!
Always wondered how Coldplay would perform a Tiny Desk. Simply amazing. They'll be forever getting a lil space in my heart.
Sarahí Aguilar amen
So glad you liked it!
Tiny heart concert :D
NPR: Everybody please welcome Coldplay!
Chris Martin: Hi I'm Chris and we're the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
Oh, my God, I needed this so much. I'm not even a huge fan of Coldplay, but I just LOVE the obvious and contagious energy from Coldplay and the choir. You can tell that the audience were feeling it too. It made my day. Thanks, NPR!
true same here!
Go to a Coldplay concert if you ever have the chance, it's that exact same energy ×1000, except you are part of it during a whole concert. It's a lifechanging experience
Same! This is what we need in these trying times ❤️
Exactly. I've never listened to 3mins of Coldplay before this moment. Such a great video!
@Andrew Silberstein Coldplay are 4 members, 2 of which aren't there.
I'm agree with you.
@@Drummer1000George travel issues or scheduling issues probably
chris...the happiest vocalist ever, just in love with his positive vibes
I feel like it's impossible not to smile watching this performance.
very comforting these days...

The whole choir is gorgeous but that woman in the middle with the ponytail bright smile is so beautiful omg
She literally is a smile
Haha this comment needs more likes, I literally wanted to comment this! Embodied happiness :)
i think the other one beside her, the one with snowcap and shades, definately has a bigger smile
Do you know her name?

Cheers from Italy! For all of us it's a bad and hard moment, but I'm sure we'll get over it stronger than ever 😉
Italy is in our hearts and prayers, from your brothers in the Philipines. This too shall pass 🙏
Coldplay needs to make an album with these guys. Wow. The last song.
This group actually participed of the Everyday Life recording! :)

they did
They did its called higher power lol
ALL THE SONGS, YES? CHRIS MARTIN IS AN AWESOME FRONT MAN. THE ENERGY IS ANAZING!
The voices of the backing vocals are like a soothing bandage for our souls.
I don’t know why this is making me cry right now. I’m just dealing with a heavy heart because of the covid19 casualties in my country, and this is just what i needed to hear.
Be strong mate💪!
We Shall overcome 🤞🏽
Where r u from?
anny chua92 philippines, situation’s just starting to get worse

Everybody: Scientist, Yellow, Green Eyes, Fix You, Every Tear Drop
Coldplay: Lets cover Prince
With a backing choir like that, he chose songs that went well like gospel
@@AndreVlaamsValle fair enough
@@AndreVlaamsValle Imo Yellow o Fix You instead of Viva la Vida would've been a better choice. But they're great anyway
I liked the lineup of tunes here. I’ve heard the others so many times it’s nice to mix it up a little.
😂
He knew what he was doing when he put all them soul singers in there
I have always loved Coldplay (almost two decades now) but the addition of this amazing choir group just makes me tear up at every single song 💜

Imagine this with a sick bass player. Still flawless
@@fanlbc that's not funny 😂😆😂
Look at how Chris fidgets when he speaks; I admire him for that. Still humble despite all the fame and the numerous times he's performed in front of large crowds.
when theyre singing viva la vida, makes me wanna cry, all this joy and people celebrating music, and now we are stuck inside of the house without making contact with anybody :(
But being stuck inside is what has given most of us the opportunity to sit and listen to this!
feel the same sis
I absolutely love this song💕
Don't be sad love, we are all together in spirit. 🙏🏽
Dont be sad!! We're all in this together.. its gonna end soon :)
Chris Martin seems like such a ball of joy.
I wouldn't usually list Coldplay as one of my favorite bands, but this is BY FAR my favorite Tiny Desk concert ever! It brings me so much joy and I've been watching it daily during quarantine to sooth my soul.
I agree!💗💙👅👅📺🐦🌈💨😻
It’s the black choir - add a black choir to anything and it’s better
I'd recommend you listen to BTS tiny desk concert (it came out yesterday) best thing to listen to if you are searching for happiness and comfort in quarantine :)
This one and Sting & Shaggy duo got me feeling warm and sentimental
0:01 Cry Cry Cry

I can’t explain what this tiny desk makes me feel .. like you just feel the joy and pure love in every lyric . The love choir is always 🔥 and Chris like sunshine
How the heck can they can get such a depth of sound with just voices piano and guitar inSANE
Katy Neve a phenomenal “background” choir
If you do anything in your life see Coldplay live it’s like tear jerking
I did last month and honestly it felt like a life changing moment it's hard to explain🥺❤️
Greatest concert I’ve attended. Felt like a religious experience
I'm still waiting for my chance, their concerts are always sold-out!
One of the best Tiny Desks I’ve seen ever. And thats a stretch because almost every NPR Tiny Desk I’ve seen is epic.
Agree!! Well said. I keep watching this one, especially the last song.
His songs are great already, but yet he was not satisfy with it and come up with these arrangements. Always a true great performers. Genius!
He is bringing gospel character into these songs with those backing vocals
1.Mac Miller 2.Anderson.Paak/Free Nationals 3.Sting and Shaggy! My top 3 anyway
@@nickoliver3523 Lets talk timesless music
I keep coming back to this performance because this is my happy place. Well done Tiny Desk, more please.
the childlike wonder in Chris Martin's eyes is something special
That's the vision. . .
I was just admiring that! It’s awesome!
Absolutely loves what he does, isn't that awesome!
Indeed... more so these times
Its called drugs, try them

Thanks for putting that up! He mentions the “love choir behind me” but I couldn’t find anything for a group called Love Choir. Do you know what the name of that group of singers is? If they have their own thing
Elias Schewel I have the same question! If anyone knows, please reply because they sound so melodious!
@@milesburke3858 it's "just" a gospel choir...
Elias Schewel it’s the For Love choir. read the description
This is the way music should be. Just a bunch of talented people together in harmony.
One of childhood to now favorite bands. Especially the 2000s era Coldplay. Golden time. Eveytime i see live versions of some of my fave songs of theirs i fall in love all over again. Chris Martin is such a gem all around❤ Tiny desk concerts are such treats. Im always amazed especially when i see some of my favorites artists on there
gospel coldplay was not a mood I knew I could lust after during a pandemic, but I’m very very much about it
Please and thank you 🙏🏼
There’s a Forrest Gump joke in here somewhere.
This is exactly what we needed in these rough times
Couldn't agree with you more Sam. Thanks NPR
❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤
Time's are going to get rougher, of course, but the grace we show ... like so evident in this 'concert', will help us make our way.
We're going to need collective faith and mutual strength.
I already know I'm going to be coming back to this often, the energy is just amazing. Great job Tiny Desk!!
Thank you!
Yeah me too! I just know it. Great way to chase away the blues caused by staying indoors and quarantining. Thank you Tiny desk, Coldplay and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
Holy bloody moley, one of the best Tiny Desks to date... that Prince cover 😍
LITERALLY
AGREED 💯
you know Viva La Vida is a song for the ages when it still holds on to it's musical integrity no matter what variation it goes through.. I'm convinced this is my favorite version of the song. There's nothing like a black choir to give a whole new essence of life to a song. amazing!
True. They're all blessed.
"And uh... this is Johnny, we've been bestfriends for about 25 years now, and we are in the band called Coldplay..."
I really love that Chris always introduce the band. Like, who on earth does not know Coldplay?!
A nice way to put friendship before fame.
With so much anxiety, political divisiveness, and racism in the world it's so beautiful to see a tiny room filled with such love, such great talent, true happiness, and brilliant soulful music. Your gift of music is a gift to us all.
everyday life is such an underrated album. It's amazing, historical, sensitive and political. Coldplay always the best
you can't help but smile at chris in this. despite the countless times he's performed viva la vida, he is still gleaming with joy performing it here.
Bruh, that backup choir is giving me chills.
Every... single... time.
God, that 'Broken' never fails to bring tears into my eyes....
Same here😂
I can’t be the only one who prefers this version of “Cry Cry Cry”
Nope ur not powerful with the choir
I hoped they would play Lovers in Japan. Idk why. But I love that song
offbeat kiki same. Would’ve been perfect in this setting
"Idk why" - does it have anything to do with the fact that they've played the song several times on their little tour? lol
does it also have something to do with the fact that it's simply a fantastic song?
@@MylotheZooLovingScientist I haven't listened to Coldplay since ~2012 so I'm out of the loop, but I'm glad they're still playing it
Best Coldplay song in my opinion. This song is huge and seriously underrated in their discography.
Chris exudes a clear and heartfelt joy for music and talent. It's been a sheer pleasure Sir
You could be playing old rusty pots and pans with broken wooden spoons on the pavement and he’d sit cross legged next to you, and add vocals (which would be unbelievably fitting). The guy lives for music. Beautiful.
This is the most joyful performance that I’ve seen in years. Hearts first, brilliant.
Exquisite
I could tell Chris wanted to cry so many times how sweet
Considering these guys have been doing it for a hot minute.. it makes it so much more enjoyable seeing how much they genuinely love what they
Chris Martin, one of the happiest music stars, joyful, kind and looking at it well
You took the words right out of my mouth. 😊
Absolutely! He seems to be a humble soul...thus joy! Love watching this Cat! His smile is contagious!
“Viva La Vida” gave me CHILLS, HONEY!!!!!!
So much talent in that room, amazing job by the singers and Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland. I love listening to this always makes the day better.
Michael Kennedy Have you heard Strawberry Swing? That song is amazing, brings me to tears
Ozymandias by Percy Shelley
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
