I got my wife into Megadeth almost 20 years ago and watching this brought back so many memories!!! Love it! You should introduce her to Cattle Decapitation next! 😂
In My Darkest Hour I think would've been an interesting pick off of So Far, So Good... So What, the ballad format makes it pretty easily digestible for non-metalheads, but it's still got so much heaviness and emotion in it, one of my favorite Dave Mustaine vocal performances and guitar solos
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I can’t stop laughing at the part when she said “I kinda wanna whip my head to it” and you played the Dave Chappell “gotcha bitch” dub under it😂😂😂😂😂😂
You needed to add "Hidden Treasures" to your list since it came out in 1995, between "Youthanasia" and "Cryptic Writings". The song 'Angry Again' is one of the best Megadeth songs never to be released on an official "Studio" album. Perhaps you can add it to the beginning of the next Megadeth video.
This series is so fun! Your wife gives great insight and points out things that I’ve never noticed in the tracks. You two are also hilarious together 😂
Rust in Peace is just one of those albums that can't be topped, forever etched in music history. Marty is a guitar god and I don't think he gets enough credit for what he has done and still does. I still gotta get the book and give it a read.
New to the Channel so I don't know what you like but I'd like to see more Genres. I think she'd enjoy to get all the different flavours like Symphonic (Dimmu Borgir, Nigtwish, Within Temptation etc.), Powermetal, Groovemetal (Sepultura etc.), Numetal , Doom, Gothic Metal (as you mentioned Type O), Heavy Metal, Hardcore, Metalcore etc .. I love Prog but I I'd love to see that later although she did really good with Meshuggah. Also at one Point would love to see her react to popular modern bamds: Sleep Token, Jinjer, Spiritbox etc.. Really enjoying this Series, subscribed
You should have her listen to "Atheist - Samba Briza" then play the rest of their catalog to see if she will still like them. Also after a few more reactions she needs to go back to Crystal Mountain and rescore it just to see if she gives it a higher score.
I wonder if her opinion on Youthanasia would change if she were to listen to the other songs, because I feel like A tout le monde doesn't really represent the rest of the album, we have this 1 calm song among other 11 which are very much metal. This is also why I like that you didn't play In My Darkest Hour which doesn't represent the aggressiveness of the rest of the album
That "rivalry" prompted me to compile a mix of Metallica and Megadeth songs, starting with Mechanix, then followed by The Four Horsemen (I shouldn't need to explain why), and then alternating between the bands thereafter. I called the mix "MegaMetalldetHicA". Under that title, I actually have a "video" for the songs Fight Fire With Fire going directly into Set The World Afire, uploaded on my channel, if anyone is interested, lol.
I knew my wife of 25 years was a keeper when we saw Megadeth a few weeks ago and she yelled, “oh my god” in shocked and impressment to how incredible they were after playing Hangar 18 as the second song of their set. Truly a proud moment of mine.
Really interesting and entertaining video! I'm a big fan of Megadeth and as a guitarist I think Dave is a genius when it comes to songwriting! btw Sweating bullets lyrics tell about anxiety and not schizophrenia. It's quite simply said, for example, that he sweats when he gets anxious. (sweating bullets) Then the lyrics say that "I'm in trouble for the things I haven't got to yet" pretty much sounds like anxiety. Anyway, you guys have good chemistry and I'm a geek when it comes to Megadeth :D
im a metalcore kiddo (AND A NORMIE TOO, i actually didnt know tf was a normie) so im actually listening to these songs for the first time i know some songs like symphony of destruction and tornado of souls and some other things but never actually listened them for real, guess im not that cultured
fair is fair. what are her favorites and give real constructive analysis. by the way anyone whos been listening to Megadeth since the 80s knows that the songwriting is theatre/disneyesque . its what we love about it. close your eyes and imagine a disney villain singing it. it fits every time. thats why its so good.
Boomer WTF, I was a '90s kid! 😂 You should definitely do an episode on progressive metal. From stuff like Dream Theater and Symphony X to modern day stuff like Tool, TesseracT, and Periphery.
Came across this video fortuitously and stayed because you're so cute together! Like i'm in the metalhead team and she's being so kind and funny! And honestly interested AND interesting! Loved your dynamic, really funny video! (her face when you start talking about Burzum.... xD) And +1 for your band! Pretty cool too! Love from France!
i think you should show her the instrumental versions of shadow of intent songs since shes a bit into classical, maybe the orchestral flavorings is gonna pull her in! oh and also hello, new subscriber here!
There is definitely a rival by Dave. He made Megadeth to be faster, louder and more aggressive than Metallica. He never go over being kicked out of Metallica and it was made worse when Metallica found commercial success. The choices for these songs on each album sucked. Megadeth have much better songs. Where is In My Darkest our, Holly Wars, Tornado of Souls, Symphony of Destruction. Dont just pick your fav songs. Pick the bands biggest songs for a newbie. Holly wars is one of the greatest metal songs of all time and stmphony of Destruction is a true classic.
Sorry I meant Symphony of Destruction. You have a weird way of choosing songs. You are a true metalhead that thinks your favourite songs are the best. Symphony of Destruction would have gotten a better score than Sweating Bullets and Holly Wars and Tornado of Souks should have gotten a better score too. You should do the biggest songs and then you can do the lesser songs or deep cuts. He has a weird choice for his fav songs.
Peace sells came on my playlist last week while I was in the car with my girl, she's a swiftie, dont think she loved it but definitely could have gone much worse
Hey guys! So awesome this will be an ongoing thing(y) and Evelyn is "getting" a lot of elements in Megadeth much like the previous show. She's got the "Ear" Varvis! I'm soo glad you picked "Sweating Bullets", I love the lyrics but the freakin' SOLO . . . one of the best solos up there with Holy Wars (I think the addition of Marty Friedman lit a fire in Dave, his solos become even better) in the Megadeth catalogue, reflects the insanity. Rust in Peace album/Holy Wars was a big deal for me as I was already a HUGE Marty Friedman fan with him & Jason Becker's band "Cacophony", and then their solo albums. So I was 1 of the few that knew of Marty (ever since I heard his debut in his own band "Hawaii" in 1983). I'm glad I was into Metallica & Megadeth at the beginning; at first it was all about Metallica, but then during the "Black" album I gravitated more to Megadeth, and then rediscovering his original 2nd Lead Chris Poland (and later, the 1 release of his Prog Metal band "Damn the Machine", 1st solo album and years later his Jazz/Fusion band "OHM:", very Holdsworth influenced). I enjoyed their last 3 albums, but haven't done a deeper dive. But after "...and Justice for All" and "Countdown to Extinction", I was starting to look for Thrash off the beaten path, so *Forbidden* became my fave Thrash band, followed by *Powermad* and then odd ones like *Realm,* *Wrathchild (America),* the 1st 2 *Annihilator* albums, *Metal Church,* *Coroner,* *Flotsam & Jetsam,* *Kreator,* *Sepultura,* *Heathen,* *Dark Angel,* *Overkill* and on and on (especially the obscure/underground ones that were becoming more technical and complex like Annihilator, Powermad, Realm and more). With the more Tech-Thrash, I started to hear the change into _something else_ ("Prog Metal") like *Mekong Delta,* *Watchtower,* *Atheist,* *Depressive Age* & *Alarum* (with the help of *Cynic* & *Death* and more) . . . *From Thrash to . . .* So that leads me to what I wanted to share with you and Evelyn in the last Death Metal reaction video. So here are a few Playlists from a themed *Prog Metal* series of various types from the earliest bands to contemporary, including Harder Progressive Rock, and the "Grandfathers" (pre-cursors) to the "Fathers" of Prog Metal. But the original reason I created these were for those that didn't like the Guttural/Extreme vocals, but had just enough on some these tracks to _ease_ them into the heavier bands. But was also showing how "Melodious" the bands were, and within shorter songs (because many Prog Metal bands can easily go over the 7min. mark). But then it just grew from there; longer tracks, more complex, atypical/angular/dissonant, along with the melodic, doomy, gothic, the more operatic/dramatic, including various vocal styles. So maybe you (Varvis), Evelyn and anyone else can try these out, and lets see if she can get into this _subgenre_ of Metal . . . . *Melodious Progulus* ~ Each Part: 1. th-cam.com/play/PL2DU3TBNutEehTdWi7pU5bYcAF6Ql_xHv.html 2 th-cam.com/play/PL2DU3TBNutEdwcerQSEcG8MU8qp1bxkqu.html 3. th-cam.com/play/PL2DU3TBNutEcnr_Fjq-ZMNeALABnPjz_S.html 4. th-cam.com/play/PL2DU3TBNutEf-WjUe8Y86SjsYz2Lv3wnf.html 5. th-cam.com/play/PL2DU3TBNutEeP8mknmvkVOq3wMyOn2Ph2.html 6. th-cam.com/play/PL2DU3TBNutEe1lLsoKvpuwBhnFVbQYWO4.html (There are 15 parts so far! I have 5+ bands to add to it, hopefully soon) I hope this comment stays up (Yt algorithm)! - I'll leave it there. I think Evelyn will be a "Metalhead" in no time!
little disappointed you didn't (at least in the video edit) explain the background of "some day you too will know my pain, and smile its black tooth grin", it would have been interesting to see her reaction to how that story developed over the years, its probably one of my favorite Megadeth lines ever, also for fun Dave's daughter has a video covering "A Tout le Monde", you should get a reaction to that video, bonus if you haven't seen it yet and get a dual reaction
Grew up in the 80’s & 90’s listening to this great Metal Band and I have to say Youthanasia is also my favorite, it just fell away after this album sadly in the late 90’s as Cryptic Writings & Risk are just a hard listen ( recently listened to both a few times ) But the World needs a Hero in 2001 is quite good and is a bit more of a core Megadeth sounding album 👍

Berta!! Represent!
Hell yeah brother 💪🏻
A shame that you didn't sneak in an extra song off of Hidden Treasures. There's definitely some noteworthy songs off of that compilation.
The Iron Maiden catalog would be awesome.
I'm gonna call it awkward time signature from now on
I am more Industrial Metal so KMFDM, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein. But also Symphonic Metal like Lacrimosa, Elis (partially), Nightwish.
Can you do a Devin Townsend/Strapping Young Lad episode? He's got such a varied discography, could be a success with the missus 🤘
I'm surprised u didn't pick stwaf or imdh (those r my fave) from the 3rd album still him is goated aswell for saying f.u to parental advisory stuff❤🎉
Re: Very astute
Early Megadeth, the first 2 albums, could be considered proto-black metal.
Stop singing !!!!! Hahah great vid bro !
I'll watch a bit later 😅
And now I'm back
I think she would really like Trust too.
