It DOES occur to him, but he ignores that. Superman knows he could go Injustice at any time and probably not have many obstacles, but that’s not his character. Superman is a beacon not just because of his powers, but because of his character.
“I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control even for a moment, or someone could die. But you can take it, can't you, big man? Think of it this way. Superman is an alien that’s just trying to have a normal life but having powers.

I notice a lot of people have a lack of interest in Superman because he's "boring", but it isn't really fair. It's as if people forget that he is "the Superhero". They had to start somewhere. He only seems OP because he's compared to characters that aren't on his level. You gotta think about his rogues gallery. Story lines like World's finest, Death of, and Darkseid actually are really good. If you don't care for Superman, at least respect him. Without him; the characters you think are "cool" would not be as we know them.
He's the reason why the word Superhero even existed, and the character paved the way for comics and every single superhero and manga characters in existence that's right Dragon ball Z fans Goku is a Asian knockoff on Superman, Superman is truly a legend so as his creators that pave way for Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and others

Cyrus Scarr I agree with you. To most, Superman just feels like an overpowered hero with really convenient powers. But if you read the comics you'll see that Superman has limits, more so psychologically that physically, and watching him go toe to toe with Doomsday, Batman and many many more is a truly inspiring experience. It's hard to make an overpowered character sympathetic as they can win in every situation thrown at them, but with Superman, it works.

Some people don't like Superman because of he's overpowered? Well the reason I like him because he is extremely kind. He is the kind of person you want to be a friend of yours. Well technically, he considers himself a friend of everyone. Even to super villains! He would save anyone, good or bad. Although he was not my #1 favourite hero last year, the film Man of Steel changed my mind. It made his origins much more sense and Superman is so awesome in that movie. But of course he is not perfect. He would still kill if really needed.

Superman is a beacon of ever pouring goodness, the reason he is amazing is not because of the super-human alien Kryptonian abilities brought on by his biological parents, it is because of his very human capacity for goodness and compassion, brought on by his human parents.
Flash isn’t as polished perfect as Superman thus why I like him a little more.

Okay to all the people who are saying Superman is boring and overpowered, have you ever heard of guys like Doomsday? Braniac? Metallo? Darkseid?
There are many characters who are on Superman's level and plenty of characters who are leagues above him and there are adversaries we will never hope to reach. Superman is a mid tier character, a all around, middle pack guy.
He only has super breath, super speed, Heat Vision, telescopic vision, microscopic vision, genius intellect, and enhances sense and good durabilty.
He only has 8 powers and hasn't gained any new ones for like 30 years, people need to stop thinking he's invincible or has every powers in existence.
And Superman isn't just a boring dude that's a good guy with no character. In comics such as Action Comcs #775, the world believes they need more brutal like heroes and Superman has to show the world the right kind of way to be a hero.
So no, he isn't just a Mary Sue that everyone loves, Superman has to prove his worth even to mere humans despite how powerful he is.
And if heroic type chaarcters aren't your style, then you probably won't like him but that deosn't make him a bad character.
And also, Superman isn't even my favorite hero, I defend him a lot becasue Superman gets undeserved bashing when people can simply read his comcs.
I think the hate spawns from comparisons, When superman is put alongside flash and aquaman, it makes him appear as if he is OP. He is in essence the 1st superhero, so ofcouse he will get a lot of the amazing powers, that doesn't mean he is a master of his abilities though.
He has super speed, but isn't faster than the flash.
Super Strength, but not stronger than Darksied.
Genius intellect, but not smarter than batman.
He is virtually normal on his home planet, so when you look at him gaining powers from our sun; anyone from that planet could have them with the exposure of it.

Superman was the one who got me into comics, he is and always will be my favorite superhero. Maya my favorite fictional character of all time.
I kinda expected a lot of Superman haters to be on this vid. Well I made an argument a while back and it goes well here.
How is Superman overpowered when there are much more powerful DC characters? He's not even the strongest in DC. There are tons of DC and Marvel characters who can take him out..
Whenever a Superhero pulls off a feat of strength people praise them as cool and powerful, when does the same he is called OP and uninteresting.
Being powerful doesn't mean you're not interesting. Its not the physical struggle that makes the story interesting, its the emotional struggle. Superman has many emotional struggles and is afraid of his own power. Superman desires a normal life but can never live one, he has to deal with being incredibly powerful and living up to everyone's expectations of him.
Imagine the thought of killing your loved ones by hugging them too hard, or killing your friend because you can't control your heat vision, imagine risking destroying a city with an accidental flick of the wrist. Imagine living in a world of cardboard where you have to keep in check every day, hour, minute, and second just to avoid killing someone. Imagine a life where you risk the lives of everyone by just making a wrong move. That is the struggle of Superman. He doesn't want to be Superman, he wants to be Clark Kent. He struggles every day to fit in but he never can, he's an eternal outcast and the ultimate immigrant. He's often doubted himself and his morality, sometimes even considers killing his enemies when they anger him to a certain extent.
Try killing a fly on a glass table with a sledgehammer without breaking the glass table. That's the struggle of Superman and that can be really interesting.
Not to mention Superman has many enemies who are stronger than him who can give him a good beating. Darkseid and Brainiac have the privilege of also being psychological enemies. They are the ones who really push Supes over the edge.
Superman haters obviously don't read comics much or know much about superheroes. You don't seem to understand that there's more to a hero than their powers. If you can't like a character for being powerful then that means you can't like 90% of heroes because most of them have superpowers.
I really wish Superman haters would actually give him a try, I know some have but still, 99% of Superman haters have never read a single Superman comic in their lives. Superman has many great stories and if they actually bothered reading them then they might actually grow to like the character. Most Superman haters base all their opinions of him on their own ignorance and bias. Most of you only call him ''overpowered'' or ''boring'' because that's what you read about him on forums or youtube comments instead of actually doing research.

I will never understand these overpowered superman comments. Nobody has ever complained about thor, the hulk or captain marvel/shazam who have out of these world feats of strength every bit as incredible as whatever superman has done. The flash and green lantern may not be invulnerable or have superstrength like the man of steel but they too are mad powerful. The green lantern can create whatever he wants with his ring! The flash is so fast he can dust superman(who can travel at lightspeed) in a race and can travel through time and dimensions. How can you beat soemone that fast. I can think of a bunch more like Martian Manhunter, Silver Surfer, Doctor strange. Worst part is most of these guys dont even have a weakness like kryptonite. I dont understand how any comic book fan can claim he is too overpowered in the crazy world of comics when compared to most he seems right at home

Superman is probably the most human of just about all heroes, you can say hes overpowered but hes the only overpowered super hero i know and hes the only odd one I dont think its a big deal. Superman like his nick name mortal God was given to him for particular reasons. You can easily relate to superman because (hopefully like most decent and compassionate people) Kal has the disciplinary behavior of self-restraint, literally when he fights hes always holding back just for the safety of others; he's always wanted to live a normal life, Standing up for whats right morally (like most heroes) and is thee original icon for justice. Superman doesn't put himself above any laws, any human or species or any beasts. He's just there to keep the peace and do whats right...hes like a jesus in a sense: keeping peace verbally and defending the defensless (and himself) with God-like strength. Not trying to bring religion in just making a comparison...even though jesus wouldnt fight but you get me.

In the Novel "Last Days of Krypton" it was said that the "S shield" was actually a 'Serpent of Deceit' trapped forever inside an 'indestructible diamond'. Taking into account that deceit means the " practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth", Superman's shield (and by extension the EL family) stands for truth and not hope. Or at least that's what I gather from all that ^ ^

Why so many people hate Superman? There's other heroes who are Powerful like Thor , The Sentry and Hyperion but no one says anything about them at all.
They are Jealous because he is powerful. He can beat all their favourite characters. And when you are the best everyone hates you. Superman is a Symbol and i don't care whatever people say i love superman. But Batman is my favourite superhero.

All the rogues gallery villains You mentioned were the examples of bad guys that are huge and inhuman. I think Lex is the most done because he’s one of the few who doesn’t brawl it out with Superman, he creates puzzles and problems that Kal has to solve, and that’s always fun
Guys, PLEASE stop complaining about Superman being too overpowered because he isn't. There are a lot of superheroes and villains who are as powerful and more powerful than him. You have people like the Flash who can run so fast that it looks like Superman is standing still while Sups is running in light speed and also has an infinite mass punch that is as powerful as Superman's strongest punches. You have people like Green Lantern who can create anything by just thinking about him (anything means anything, even another Superman) Not only that, but these people don't have any weaknesses unlike Superman, who has kryptonite, red sun radiation, and magic to slow him down A LOT. So stop complaining about him being overpowered because you know nothing about both him amd every other hero/villain in comic books.

World War Hulk is a great example of a ridiculously over powered, to the point of being utterly moronic, character. Superman is a fantastic character because he is the ideal of what is right and is the moral compass of the justice League.

@VpY22 Actually in the original comics he couldn't do everything. He had super strength, invulnerability, and could jump really high. The super speed, flight, super breath, laser & X-ray beams didn't come until much later on. Superman is not unbeatable. He just needs a villain that can go toe to toe with him. General Zod, Brainiac, Doomsday, Darkseid, Parasite, Mongul, and Hank Henshaw (aka Cyborg Superman) just to name a few have pushed Superman to this limits and even beaten him before.

I’m glad to say I moved from my small hometown city in New England to Ohio, where Cleveland is two hours away. The place Superman was created. Who woulda thought it? He will forever be my hero. Has there ever been a comic that explains Superman's skin color? Not a race thing, but in physics, chemistry, and biology, we learn plants are green because that's the color of object that absorbs the most blue and red light, which the sun has the most of, reflecting green. Superman's skin color should be red, as red skin obviously absorbs the least amount of red light. Then changing to a yellow sun means his powers grow stronger, if only a bit. Then a blue sun would make him more powerful than any other. Therefore, it follows that his skin should be red.
Seeing as how Krypton's sun was dying, like a red sun, it could be explained that evolution on his planet didn't work as fast as the color change in his sun (probably not a main sequence star), explaining why a people powered by sunlight would have red skin while living under a red sun.
Well, I guess one can argue that, SOMEHOW, the sun's rays penetrate straight through Superman's skin and his red blood cells are what absorb the light and transform it into excess energy that's more efficiently used than in plant life.
I really like the idea of Superman, so I have to make sense of everything.

Martha Kent sewed his costume of the blankets he had been wrapped, swaddled, and cushioned in, on his trip from Krypton. She used young Clark' heat vision to 'cut' the fabric, and help to unravel the separate threads to sew it.
On top of that, it (the cloth), could (and did) expand as he grew from Superboy to Superman.
Look how many times he used it to expand the cape as either a tarp, a shade, or a shield to protect others.
It helps immensely to have my dads and uncles comics and pulps from the mid 30s to the 50s, and my own from the late 50s to now.

In any comic where Batman knows Clark Kent AND Superman, at least that I've read, he knows Clark's identity. It's not hard, if you're looking. The problem is that it's not like people in general are actively looking around for who is Superman in disguise. Few people really expect Superman to have a secret identity, since everyone knows (or think they know) where Superman spends his off time, and not many people know who Clark Kent is, or what he looks like. He's just a name in front of a news story. Again, think about it. If you worked at some random place, and saw some guy who looked like a fat, clumsy, geeky version of Tom Cruise, with a higher pitched voice, who you had seen beside Tom Cruise on a previous occasion, would you think that that was Tom Cruise in disguise? In addition, at least Tom Cruise has an easily recognizable face. Chances are, most people in Metropolis have seen Superman on the news, but it's not like his face is super unique. Heck, some versions of Bruce Wayne look more Superman-like than Clark Kent.

It mentions in the comics that Superman's disguise is a super power itself. It isn't as simple as putting on glass and dressing differently.

How to fix Superman:
Give him a badass costume: you should get rid of his boyscout persona (New 52 did that right)
Make him less OP: No ice breath, put a limit on his strenght and dont make him 100% bulletproof
Make more ways to defeat him: you have to have Kryptonite or be very strong to beat him. Make him vulnerable to things like fear toxin (like they did with Green Lantern in Justice League: Doom)
Make him a better character in other media: Many people today think that they know a character by watching a movie about him. Give the movies some memorable villains and storylines!

Jeffrey Grant I actually plan on it soon, I'm not a Superman fan but the trailers got me interested, I saw most of the earlier Superman films and couldn't get into them, and the last one that came out before MOS was so boring, was it in like 2007 or soemthing. Superman is the most bland character ever created.... seriously the ONLY time superman is ever interesting is when they have to create alternate dimensions where his personality is more than unrealistic benevolence and non-unlimited random bullshit powers. There's never a character ark or depth or even effort expended into beating his enemies he just eventually punches them hard enough for them to go away.
Then you've obviously never read any of the comics he listed because in all of those Superman is hardly bland.

Patrick Trujillo He sucks because he is extremely overpowered and basically nothing can beat him, yes I know he has his weaknesses but those are even overlooked sometimes like when he gets thrown into the sun and absorbs a crap load of radiation. I like a hero who while not being beaten all the time can actually be beaten. Superman just seems to brush away the kryptonite and defeat the villain.

the actual design is based off a concept design by JJ Abrams for his unproduced film Superman: Flyby, the entire new 52 reboot started up in September 2011 while principle photography for Man of Steel actually wound up starting up about a month earlier. it generally takes about a month to write and draw up a comic book, so more likely the MOS costume inspired the New 52 costume. Or maybe Jim Lee saw the same design Goyer and Snyder did and said "i'll do that but a little different."

Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel actually were out of high school when they first made Superman up. It was the first summer after they graduated. The first hero version of Superman was i guy wearing black pants and no shirt, but it was never published.

About Superman's origin, in the comics Krypton was orbiting a red sun and it was dying and whenever a sun becomes red, then it will swallow three swallow three planets and go supernova and that is how Krypton got destroyed. In the Man Of Steel Movie, Krypton was destroyed because the Kryptonians harvested their planet's core for artificial population control. And because of that, the planet became unstable and exploded.
They need to add Xa Du into the next Man of Steel movie, he's probably the baddest villain to come out of The Phantom Zone!
