the first time i heard this song, my first thought was, that’s a strange voice i’m not sure i can listen to the whole song, but then i listened to it again because i liked the guitar, now here i am addicted to the band, everything is amazing and i love how odd the vocals are, i think it’s all so beautiful. strange how easily we can change our minds by just giving it another listen.

The media and critics didn't even like Brian Molko. Many actually wanted to get rid of him from being a star in the late 90's. Placebo were always invincible since day 1. The ending of this video is really good, gives the song a strong context

That's a big reason I was drawn to his music... because he was comfortable being himself.. his voice oozes desperation, but so much emotion... one of my favourite bands... I'm heterosexual... but Brian Moloko would be my man crush ha

I'm 21 and I've been fan of Placebo since I was 17 but I had never dedicated time to watch their videos. The other day I was talking to a friend of mine about how most (not all) of the music videos nowadays lack a story or a profound meaning. I'm not saying that it's wrong that a music video doesn't have that but I think that it's always more nutritious for the audience if the artist wants to communicate something way beyond the song itself, it is an extra effort that is granted. never imagined how complex and beautiful and cinematic and full of signifiers Placebo's videos would be. I've always been in love with Placebo but now I'm completely lost hahaha they're amazing

That song was the first time I ever saw and heard of Placebo, on MTV in 1998.
I remember being both puzzled and mesmerised by Brian's voice, his appearance (he?/she?) , the video clip... many years later, it is still a favourite of mine.

My older brother introduced me to placebo in the early 90s. I'm amazed at just how much of a massive role placebos music would play into the rest of my life.
I couldn't say that about any other entertainer. Their music is a placebo for my soul and mind.
22 years later and I still love this band and song. So sad that there is no place for such brilliance these days. Kids of today are really losing out.
Even more depressing is the knowledge that it is merely a matter of time before some TikTok child discovers the song, speeds or slows it down & uses it for another meaningless ‘viral’ video. Or, the melody is used and the lyrics re-written into something spectacularly banal.

The concept for this video is brilliant.....being "thrown to the sharks" both figuratively and literally. Their acting in this one (particularly in Brian Molko's case) wasn't bad either...and the song reminds me of something you'd hear on one of the The Cure's first few albums. Love it.
