      Oh, we have a code of conduct. Tourists and transplants like to pretend we don't. That's why we have the saying "come on vacation, leave on probation". I'm just tired of us getting blamed for people that weren't born here. We native Floridians are so few that we can't possibly be the problem.

      In 2015 a drunk driver with no insurance and an already suspended license slammed into our mailbox and then the house (at the end of a cul-du-sac) on New Years Eve. He hit our car trying to back off of the lawn and left part of his rear bumper on the grass before driving off. He was found and arrested about 2 blocks away trying to fix his car that had broken down. Our insurance agent was called for the house and car. Three days later, drunky knocks on the door and offers to get he and his friends to fix the house.... As if we were supposed to trust him to do it properly? NOT. We had already spent all morning on New Years Day installing ply-wood and 1x4s etc on the front of the house and smashed window of the bedroom (no one was in it at that time) that he had driven his car into. We told him no thanks. It was April before the insurance stuff went through so we could get the house fixed.

      Despite your "free" healthcare, accessing it is nearly impossible. Sweden also has a rising gang problem and a rising violent crime rate. Sweden also has a massive housing shortage, and then you have a law called Jante that dictates literally every aspect of your behavior.

    The thing about Florida is not that all the crazy people are there, it's that pretty much all convictions and arrests there are fair game by law for journalists.
    Most if not all other states protect those. So it's very likely that similar occurences happen in every other state, we just wouldn't know because police wouldn't give that kind of information.

    • @alchemysaga3745
      @alchemysaga3745 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Sort of. There's also rampant drug problems across the entire state, low education quality, tendency toward extremist views, and the fact that people come here to vacation at least partly due to points 1 and 3.
      I live in Florida. There have been no less than *THREE METH LABS* that have been on the same block as my home.
      My home that is *next door to an elementary school.*
      All three of those meth labs were run by the same family, who were known meth cookers and dealers.
      One of them was also a known sex offender, and was still allowed to move back into a property that was only separated from the school by a retainment pond.
      Florida is fucked up, it's not just that they're allowed the records.

    • @SkunkApe407
      @SkunkApe407 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alchemysaga3745 literally none of what you said is true.
      For one, the US southwest has a far more prevalent drug problem than Florida. Only 8.32% of Floridians have ever tried illicit drugs. The national average is 8.82%. So Florida is below the national average.
      Two, Florida ranks third in the nation in education. Just because you're a dropout doesn't mean we all are.
      Three, our "extremist" views have seen us as the only state to have a healthy economy during Covid, and the quickest to return to profitability afterward. We also happen to have some of the strictest amd most progressive nature conservation laws in the nation.
      You'd do well to go outside.

Take a look at the pictures of our beaches after Spring Break. That isn't Floridians leaving a landfill on our beaches. That isn't Floridians starting massive beach-wide brawls. It isn't native Floridians jumping on manatees for piggyback rides. The lady that got arrested for doing that had just moved here from Texas, but the papers sure said "Florida Woman".
      Trust me, we Floridians really don't want any of you here. Stay away and watch our headlines get boring.

    9:15 The funniest part of this to me is I had the opposite assumption made about me. A few years back, I was riding an e-scooter in the rain and ended up falling and hurting my shoulder. About 2 weeks later my shoulder was still hurting a lot so I decided to go to the doctor. Over the phone I told them I fell off a scooter and hurt my shoulder, and when I came in they were confused as to why I would've been riding a scooter for people who can't walk much. I clarified that it was one of the scooters that you rent with the app.
    Conclusion was that I had a fracture in the bone in my upper arm (humerus).

    Background on the "water park" guy in the last entry, he was actually just maliciously drilling holes in $250,000 worth of pipes, after becoming "disgruntled" with his job.

    I’m no sociology major, but I believe most jail mates/prisoners actually do prefer to stay in containment because it’s a lifestyle that they generally have spent so much time in, it’s the only lifestyle they know. I’m not saying that they like it, but if you’ve stayed a long time sticking with a certain lifestyle, you just feel more accustomed to it. This is because the US justice system only knows how to detain prisoners as opposed to providing them resources to readjust to life outside of the bars.
    Of course, this isn’t for many inmates/prisoners, but it is a common thought process. At least, that’s what my sociology teacher taught me.

    1:10 a scream isn’t good either, the alligator will cause some real pain. Can rip off whatever limb it’s grabbing but just dragging or doing a roll and possibly dragging you into the water for… well let’s just say you might meet someone a bit later.
