  • Looks like Yezdi wants a piece of the adventure pie by bringing in the Yezdi Adventure. Yes, it might look similar to the Royal Enfield Himalayan but the specs are completely different on paper. How much adventure does the Yezdi have? Here's Shumi and Varun Painter's first ride review and conclusion.

    So the stiff suspension of the ktm adventures make them a joy in a corners but a similar stiff suspension in yezdi makes it a deal breaker. The low end torque or the lack of it in the ktms make the bike more engaging and fun to ride but the same thing in yezdis is the deal breaker? Double standards, eh?

      Compared to KTMs, there Yezdi's are too soft. They don't have the performance to make use of the stuff setting, and they're not comfortable enough to compete against plusher bikes.

      Completely looks like a pro- Himalayan review. Infact, the worst of powerdrift ever. I rode both, yezdi adv is way ahead of Himalayan. Vibes creep only after 6000 rpm. That is expected but by this time, we will be in 125kmph already. What more we need to cruise comfortably at 110-120kmph on highways. If we are going faster than that, is it really safe? Upto the rider whether to waste his life on highways.

  • @HELMETDUDE
    @HELMETDUDE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Setting a benchmark? This is the first version, compare it with the first version of Himalaya. It's still way better, modern approach and value for money product where it can do all terrains.
    Talking about anti yezdi, you just said it is by giving an excuse.
    Bhai gazab ki analogy hai aapki, ranveer itna pasand hai? You can do better my brother!

  • @aamir.khan.1991
    @aamir.khan.1991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +176

    I am confused (again).
    Isn't meeting the benchmark a good thing? The Himalayan 450 is still a long way away so if the Himalayan 411 is assumed to be the top adv, and even if we assume yezdi misses the mark by just a small margin, it is makes it the second best motorcycle overall right at launch. With room for improvement. Let's not forget how well Himalayan stuck it's landing (from breaking footpegs to completely breaking into two) in its initial phase. Till now, the yezdi adventure hasn't exactly done something absolutely wrong.
    And then there is this extremely contrasting view about not doing things differently. That point was pressed upon quite a bit, but then there is quite a bit of difference in approach. And I'll directly say what was mentioned in the video that the Yezdi matches or betters the Himalayan on (with how i interpreted it and I am welcome to be pointed as wrong) . The engine is more modern and has a nice linear power delivery. Cruises well @100kmph. The instruments are modern and adequate (definitely better than on the Himalayan and will hopefully work for more than 15 months which is the average lifespan of the Himalayan console) . The brakes are adequate (very likely to be better in comparison) . Has off road ABS. Definitely a much better and fun to use gearbox.. LED lights all around. The suspension is comparatively less pliant but not a bad unit. It will hustle all the way to the redline better than the Himalayan 411.
    So, it is a direct competitor to the Himalayan which gets a lot of things right, betters a few things and doesn't charge a penny extra for it.
    And yet, the approach to the video is that of sinking disappointment. Shumi had a significantly more gentle approach while talking about the benelli trk251. The Honda highness wasn't taken apart in this manner when it was launched.
    Yeah, even i expected a lot more from the yezdi but what's up with these strong negative vibes? It is not at all a bad motorcycle. But the message that comes across is, don't buy it. I am not an offroader or a scrambler. And this coming from a guy who is nowhere near wanting to own an adv.
    I really am confused.

    • @satishjoseph
      @satishjoseph 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Can't believe you liked that gearbox. The bike just wouldn't pull in higher gears..I mean like at 30 km/hr in 3rd..have to lower the gears so frequently in traffic. Maybe on the highway it won't be an issue as gear changes will be minimal..but a strict no as a daily commuting bike. And not all of us have a garage big enough to have many bikes to serve different purposes. We need something that can do it all.

    • @JC-nx5xx
      @JC-nx5xx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Very well written.... But feel somewhere shumi is right.. Yezdi missed an opportunity to be a leader in setting benchmark rather than being a follower. Adventure bikes need to have higher low-end torque but yezdi misses due it's DOHC config. Console is definitely looks aftermarket and could have easily made it look premium and elegant. Suspension might be tuned to softer side. Himalayan engine is a long stroke engine where yezdi can't match in torque spread. Being a modern engine, Yezdi adv is actually slower than the Himalayan in 60 to 100kmph shift which is definitely not acceptable being a DOHC engine.

    • @aamir.khan.1991
      @aamir.khan.1991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@satishjoseph I am someone who likes the bike to be engaging. And as i very clearly mentioned, powerdrift said it is a good gearbox. I just agreed. The engine might not be torque oriented but it compensates more than enough by having a gearbox that has a nice throw and good tactile feel to it. If i were omeone who didn't enjoy changing gears, i would have went for a gearless scooter. I really love it when I have to down shift and rev match while braking on my rc390. But that's not the point.
      The point is that adventure is quite a different bike
      Himalayan has an agricultural machine gearbox but better low end pull. Adventure isn't that strong (not exactly a slouch either) but has a fun to use gearbox which a lot of riders will enjoy.

    • @aamir.khan.1991
      @aamir.khan.1991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@JC-nx5xx yes. It is slightly slower for in gear acceleration. But better at 0-60,0-100, higher top speed, etc. And with an engaging gearbox, would you really mind dropping a couple of gears and then out accelerate the Himalayan? I know i wouldn't. Console isn't exactly to my liking either. But gets the job done. No issues with visibility in direct sunlight, and has all basic info. If the yezdi Bluetooth module works, it'll be most definitely better than the very messy Himalayan console. It's a pain to locate the needles on that thing.
      Again, I agree, a better suspension and maybe better tuning.. Yezdi didn't hit the nail on its head. But is it really that bad a motorcycle? I agree with the quoted negatives. But is it enough to make it a motorcycle to avoid buying? As I said, i am not an adv person, but if i were to ever consider, the yezdi seems a significantly better fit for me. The review really does not feel that way. Too strict. I would really like to see how yezdi grows from here.

    I have always been a fan of powerdrift bike reviews as they are very detailed, but gotta ask this when RE last year launched classic 350 with same looks as previous version and very minor changes barring the j series engine you were totally fine with it whereas you are complaining about Yezdi not setting benchmark feels weird.....

    • @suryavalluri3894
      @suryavalluri3894 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If re changes the classic it wouldn't sell so re couldn't and yezdi being a net brand should be making a bike with its own identity rather than a slight improvement over a bike which is extremely old and I'm not a fan of royal Enfields classic i actually think the old classic 350 was one of the most dull bike i ever rode but re can't take a chance there renaming a new bike classic is always going be considered sacrilege but yezdi never made an adventure before is someone wants to go on touring they have a adventure 250 if main focus is off-road then they have a established himalayan and a more fun xpulse where does the yezdi adventure stand it's better on road than himalayan and obviously below ktms where as off-road it's softer than ktm but harder than the rest when this happens it just becomes a bike which stays in the middle like the Gixxer 250/ pulsar 250 it might sell due to it being a middle ground but it will not impress as it has nothing ground breaking going for it when compared to the competition

      Classic 350 being the benchmark doesn't need any major look change but the engline replacement was needed really long ago. The vibrations it produced were really annoying. But yezdi bringing a new bike could have made it different looking maybe if it had a beak in the front and looked like a mix of g310gs and Himalayan than no one could have complained. I'm a proud owner of Yezdi adventure.. It is 10 time's better than Himalayan from every point of view. The ride quality is excellent.I did both long on road and off road rides. It is reliable and not service centre addicted like Himalayan. The build quality is great.

    No hate to any one but I'll be totally honest. This bike does look like Himalayan and its not a bad thing. Himalayan does tick many boxes and Yezdi wanted to do so as well but I believe this bike really lacks the USP or something that makes it stand apart. On the roads, people will still call it a Himalayan wannabe or ripoff. Not impressed, Yezdi.

      The styling is pretty much in line with all old time adventure bikes, both the yezdi and the himalayan are trying to capture that essence. The yezdi's tank design however is very reminiscent of the old yezdi roadking, same for the engine block, and that's one way it sets itself apart.

    Very apt review. I currently own BS3 Himalayan and am looking for upgrade. But BS6 Himalayan offers just ABS but has more weight and less power so selling my BS3 and getting BS6 doesn't feel like upgrading. So I was eager to see Yezdi adventure. But as Schumi said, I will still be trading off amazing suspension for marginal gain in power and few creature comforts. What setting new benchmark is can be explained by, I am more leaning towards Xpulse 200 4v. Sure it makes less torque and power. But it makes more milage, has ABS. Also it's light-weight and cheap. That's the benchmark it sets which Himalayan can not beat. I have decided not to sell my BS3 just yet and wait another year for Honda CRF300 rally, but my friends Xpulse 200 4v seriously checked my resolve than Yezdi Adventure.

Then I stepped down to check the situation of the light and I found that the top section of the headlight is the low beam which hits straight to the eyes of the passerby.
    The high beam is even worse!!

    i was a yezdi guy from mid 90's to about 2005 long after it was discontinued. i used to do 300 kms long highway ride from my college to my home town and back every week ( that made it 600 kms) . how it performed on the highway (the way they were back then) doing 80 to 90 km/hr was a bliss. It was so relaxed at those speeds, that slow reeving long stroke 2 stroke engine was made for highway touring . It felt as if it would do those speeds not just all day long but all your life the feeling was so reassuring and bullet proof but now they have an engine that is short stroke eventually high reeving which is just opposite to the actual brand heritage and a classic bike feel..

    Yezdi Scrambler, Roadster and Adv. missed out huge on what they could've done, similar to Jawa. They tried to benchmark/copy RE which is the highest standard in Indian Market with riders swearing upon their RE more than even the Harley Davidsons at times, at the price and market cap thatt RE does, it should've been something new. Something different which could replicate the Yezdi DNA from 1990s while sticking to the new standards and set new benchmarks.
    In this regard, Honda with 350 Highness or Benelli with Imperale 400 in the cruiser category while Husqvarna or KTM Adv. in their adventure line-up have done so incredibly either with comfort or looks or price or power, Yezdi seems like a cheap copy of RE bikes. I love how they tried brining in Scrambler in the mix which was missing in under 5 lakh mark but that doesn't help either. You rather take a RE and get it modified, and it'll still run better. With the news of upcoming Himalyan 450 and 650, RE Scram, and RE Shotgun... They're beyond that 350-500cc mark, and now getting into fght with Harley Davidson while sticking to their roots and affordability. Not to forget that both Harley Davidson and Norton are trying to find a manufacturer/collaborator to bring in sub-500cc bikes under 3 lakh range somewhere by early 2023 which will open some more competition on both higher end of above 600cc end as well as starter end of sub 500cc.
