China is collapsing, this is the end, the economy is collapsing... oh wait no it's not.
How bad is the Chinese economy? We hear it everyday in the news from western media and the China haters, but what is the economic situation on the ground in China like? In today's video, I hit the streets of China and explore what it's actually like here, and we delve into the facts and figures and the future of the Chinese economy. Is it about to Collapse? Has it already collapsed?
What about China's property market and the Evergrande group? Did they collapse? Did China's housing market just crash?

The real problem with China is that you cannot believe any of the official numbers they gave. For example, do you really believe the ridiculously low number of deaths in China for COVID? Or they hide them, as recentky with youngsters unemployment. With all the flaws, i still prefer the old Europe.

China is upgrading to the medium and high-end industrial chain, while abandoning real estate. The president Xi has said that houses are for living in, not for speculation. Therefore, the Chinese government will not use money to bail out those real estate companies that are close to bankruptcy, let them go bankrupt naturally and restructure the Chinese economy. China will not experience a real estate bubble like Japan did in the last century.

We were promised the same system here in the US during the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle. Still do not have it. Same Amtrak as back then. China built all new airports, all new Highways and gives women at least the equivalent of our SSI beginning at age 50yrs. My city and the rest of the west coast cities are cesspools of corruption of the most dangerous kind. In China I could walk safe for the most part. I could go on. China has close to zero military bases compared to our 750 in 80 countries. The media ignores or outright denies these facts. An economy can collapse if it is based heavily on financial instruments, where the value of the instruments become disconnected from real world conditions. So things like share markets, bond markets, cryptocurrencies, derivatives, mortgages, these things can (and regularly do) collapse. A great example is the 2008 subprime mortgage collapse: suddenly people realized that a lot of mortgages weren't going to be paid back, and all that money just disappeared from the economy.
An economy cannot collapse if it is based heavily on real manufacturing, infrastructure investment, and other tangible, physical things. Those things don't just suddenly disappear; you don't just wake up one day and find out all of China's high speed trains don't actually exist. The worst that can happen is stagnation and slow decline, but even that requires incredibly bad management. The example to consider is the case of Japan: decades of economic stagnation, but sub-par growth still leaves it one of the most developed and advanced economies in the world. That's because the foundation of Japan's economy was manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure. Japan still has great bullet trains, and the US still doesn't.

Now that China has begun to transition more of their economy towards their internal consumption and development of the BRI, they are less dependent on exports and can compete with global brands through direct retail channels such as e-commerce and social media marketplaces.

If there is anything I have learnt from my time in travels, it is that nothing is as it seems.
China is collapsing, but not in the way we imagine a collapse would go. Been to Japan to see that even with a negative growth population, the economies of scale, the consumerism and perseverance will still keep people busy for years to come even though economic growth is very low. Japan is special where their society is very egalitarian, but places like other parts of the world there are pockets where few people are either doing really well, at the expense of many many more not being able to thrive at all.
That is ultimately where the collapse starts, not in the communities of the power-holders but in the communities of those who live to maintain the power-holders standards of living.

One thing to know, the official Western media do not copy the headlines between themselves. They were ordered to pass a list drawn up by the CIA and the US government. Anything bad in democratic countries should not be covered in the newspaper. On the other hand, it is absolutely necessary to speak badly of Russia, China and the opponents of the USA.
In France for example, at 8 p.m. sharp in the evening, all the television news channels broadcast the same subjects and in the same order given at the same time.
On the other hand, the information provided by journalists in the field will never be processed and disseminated. Unless they talk bad about China and Russia. In this case, it will be broadcast on the front page of the newspaper with a very big headline.
The Western media is controlled by the Americans, it is they who decide what to talk about in the Western media and democratic countries (USA, Europe, Japan, India etc...).

Since you kept bringing up Guizhou, I actually looked it up, it went from one of the poorest provinces in China to a futuristic one. With all high tech such as giant telescope and designated national data storage. It is also got suitable weather conditions for retirees. I need to do more studies and hope to relocate in China someday. You are giving audiences more insight than you think, thanks again Jason and hope you families in China and UK are well👍👍🤙🤙

To be honest, I always thought Guizhou was really poor, I was surprised this tier 3 city, looks like a tier 2 city; being in a tier 1 city, I think you will live longer than me..... Many people are thinking of having a decent life in T2 and T3 instead of T1. Greeting from Shanghai. Not becoz it's collapsing, but it's very competitive, that's all.

@@magicsmurfytrue, it is poor. it has only data storage centre because electricity and natural cooling cost are cheap. i mean Guizhou has a lot of lakes and mountains to cool a data centre without a huge mount of fans. The developers are still in other cities like Beijing and Shanghai . But, it’s still better than a lot of U.S. cities.

guizhou actually has plenty of beautiful sceneries, all those lakes, waterfalls, mountains. and i visited this ancient gingko village once, both real village and scenic area, you can live in there and experience local life. i remember they have this old gingko tree which is almost 1000 years old, really beautiful village. and it makes sense that their special cuisine is chicken stewed with gingko seed.

Good nature people will hope such many people prosper and have a good lifelihood. By such they can't become the world burden, and then can contribute to the world's prosperity as a whole.

I have been teaching Chinese students for the past ten years. In that time alone, the growth and development has been INSANE. It hasn't been a subtle change, either. Suddenly infrastructure and tech is first class in so many cities. Pollution reduced. Amazing. It goes to show that if a government really wants to, it would.

Nice one Jason. Think I caught a glimpse of a famous building here in Foshan in your intro. We get the keys to our new Foshan apartment on Friday after waiting for the building to be finished. We watched the construction over the last year and it was amazing. I completely agree with your POV. Been here going on 10 years and China has been thriving every day of it.

China is not perfect, but it is a good example for national as well as personal development - when others are unkind to you, or look down upon you, or attack you, you DO NOT scream and cry and go running for help. You lie low, know your shortcomings, try to make friends with everyone, work on yourself, work very, very hard every day on improving yourself. Then one day, when you have some money to spare, ring around and invite your friends to a banquet, and 2/3 of the world will turn up smiling, happy to share a meal with you. Just that simple.

One thing not mentioned here is China's huge trade surplus every year.
In fact last year China's trade surplus was US $877.6 billion dollars!
That's bigger than many developed European countries' GDP.
    E. g
Switzerland GDP - US $807 billion
Belgium GDP - US $609 billion
Sweden GDP - US $603 billion
Norway GDP - US $541 billion
Denmark GDP - US $405 billion
Finland GDP - US $302 billion
    and more.....

Doesn't matter because exports to all around the world are rising higher and higher. US and EU are becoming irrelevant to China. That's why China has cancelled import orders to US and EU worth hundreds of billions of dollars. That would probably cause China's trade surplus go even higher, likely exceeding US $ 1 trillion dollars by the end of this year.

yes, China is not market economy. Instead it's a government controlled economy. The China government can easily take advantage of USA and EU by trade surplus.
