    Interesting....I'm on the fence after reading some of the user feedback on the APP Store. Seems split where some people like it and many say it doesn't work as expected. Looks like a new release came out in May 2021 (vs 2.1.8). Appreciate the video..... really hope this works as expected. Currently using the Parrot Teleprompter App (vs 2.2.3) and not satisfied with it app (very buggy). Was working but seems every time there is a version update it fixes one thing and breaks something else.

      @tecraven  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      RGMG, remember you can download a free trial of this and see if you like it first, without paying. to be honest, some people make the mistake of leaving their iPad in a case and part of the case blocks the pinhole mic, that and other issues like a very unclear and hard to understand accent perhaps, but for the most part I'd say any issues are user error. If used properly it works to perfection for me and I've been using it for a year now without a hick up.

    Thanks for this, Nigel. I used to run my own Teleprompting company in Sydney and thankfully this sort of equipment wasn't then available. Now I've returned to acting and could really use this for self taping with little or no time to learn the text... or speaking directly to camera as I sometimes do... (for which I am also looking for the prompting hardware) The thing that confused me a bit about your very helpful presentation, was close to end (round 4.42) when you were speaking but the text wasn't scrolling.. but then, without appearing to push anything further, it scrolled when you said "for example... " Sorry if I'm being a bit dense but, would appreciate it if you could clarify this. Either way... thankyou for your video
    PS) just realised that JD. Mosley-Matchett's comment below may answer my question... i.e. you probably tapped the play button out of shot. Also noticed from another comment that there is an updated software, would you recommend that and if so, would you kindly provide the link - I don't mind paying a little bit extra if it provides a bit extra... but please confirm

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeannie. I could not find the part where I said 'for example' at 4:42. Anyway, if I stop speaking the text stops scrolling, simple. Also, sometimes the text might pause for a second or two, even when you're reading, as the software is waiting for the reader to move down a line or two, then it starts again on it's own.
      If you have the software on iPad or something similar you should get an automatic notification (like with all other iPhone and iPad apps) that and update is available. But, if not, just download the Pro version and re-install it here: promptsmart.com/products/pro

    Very frustrating. The autocue following the voice only seems to work half the time. Not for a whole script (for me). I've tried a few different microphones and different phones. I've since bought the remote app that you can use to move the script on another device. This also doesn't seem to work. It continually disconnects. I've spent days trying to get this to work on lots of different pieces of equipment. Suggestions welcomed! Can a wired remote be used somehow on a phone?

      Sorry I can't help with this one. I've never had a problem with it. Using built in mic on iPad (several iPads) has always been fine in different acoustic environments (rooms, halls etc) and at distances from 5 feet to 25 feet. I'd drop PromptSmart an email to their tech team and get some advice from them.

      @tecraven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Wow beats. Since owning and using PromptSmart Pro I've done several more videos and I have never had a problem with tracking and scrolling. Most of the faults are people not knowing how to use it, not taking iPad out of case so leather is blocking mic, or being way too far away in strange conditions or having a strange accent and not speaking clearly. This example that I did a year ago is 3.5 hours long and there was not problem with the entire script: th-cam.com/video/umcJ4CODKVg/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Nigel! If I'm speaking the words on the teleprompter but want to go off on a tangent and speak extra words before coming back to the words on the teleprompter-will my extra words come through on the video I am making or can I only make a video, speaking the words I have put on the teleprompter? Thank You! 😊

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically, if you go off on a tangent and start speaking words that are not on the prompter the prompter will pause as it does not recognise what you are saying as matching the script on the teleprompter. Then, when you are finished with your digress simply start reading the prompter again and it will pick up and continue scrolling. However, be aware that if, during your. tangent, you say a few words that are similar to that on the script the prompter might 'nudge' up a line so still keep an eye on it, even during your digress. Hope that makes sense, but basically, you can go off topic and the prompter will simply pause and wait for you to come back and start reading again.

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Solange, you don't need to use your iPhone as a remote control when using Prompsmart Pro on an iPad because Promptsmart Pro uses voice recognition so as soon as you start reading the script it will automatically scroll and follow your voice - that's the point of it, to do away with the need for a remote control altogether.

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mitch. Strange. Maybe I can help you. I know three people that use it, including me, and don't have any issues. Here are a few tips. If your iPad is in a case, remove it from case to allow better access to built-in microphone as case can sometimes block the mic a little. If you're in a room with lots of reverb, such as a church, the echo interferes with the clarity and in this case using a lav mic clipped onto your shirt and going into iPad will make sure your voice gets picked up clearly.

    • @briandalmeida1722

      Same issue here. It's been hit or miss for me using the built in mic on the iPad in an acoustically treated room.
      How would the plugged in mic work?

    • @tecraven
      @tecraven  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@briandalmeida1722 You just buy a budget, but half decent, wired lav mic. I bought a Mosotech (they are available to buy with different length cables) for between £8.99 and about £12.99, see: amzn.to/3ttrIYw
      This simply plugs into the iPad with the standard TRRS plug that is on it (don't use the TRRS to TRS adaptor that it comes with) and then you clip that onto your shirt and the iPad then collects your voice from that and not the built in mic, that way the software recognises your voice easier.
