I have a 508 sw in a grey/light blue metallic and I love it Especially as its "only" the Allure! But best of all its always the only one in the car park like it. Quite often I see people walk or drive past it and turn round to take a second or third look. Kinda makes my day . So thatnk you Tish - you're a star in the making
I love the 508 estate and it really is one of the best, if not the best looking estate car on sale. I almost bought one last year but opted for a DS 7 which was heavily reduced.
Hi Tish love your video. I bought a 508sw pse about 2months ago. It's a brilliant car I'm very happy with it. I wanted something a bit different and out of the ordinary. I use it every day and feel a bit special driving it. The performance is amazing. I am 58 yrs old and feel like a boy racer again , it's so much fun.
Great review Tish. It's a grand looking car. These are over €70,000 in Ireland, which is an outrageous price for a Peugeot. Though, we pay Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) here, which pushes the car prices right up.
Unfortunately €70,000 isn’t an unusual amount of money to pay for a special car in Ireland anymore, especially the way the prices have inflated recently. But look at this car, easily one of the best looking cars around. I saw one these the other day at a fuel station and couldn’t take my eyes off it 😍😍😍
I have not long brought the 508 PSE fastback, would of loved the estate but these seem to be 10k more then my fastback. i love mine. its so different and rare in the car world, most don't understand what the PSE is, over the moon with mine. i just love thats its so different so everything else. its this or you go audi, bmw, marc etc but i'd rather be different. see so many of them compared to the PSE. Great review, i have seen both your facelift and pre facelift reviews. many thanks
While ot the PSE, I have a 508sw. I bought it off the back of having one as a hire car in France in 2022. The quality and feel stands out: it feels like a premium car without the premium price tag. And I agree with Tish, the back end looks good. The low roof line also gives it a sporty look and feel. It's just a shame that the 1.2 engine has a wet belt which I understand can cause issues as it wears, needs replacing more often and is more expensive to replace.
I love the look of the 508, Peugeot really did get the looks spot on. The pse offers some great power, I've driven the 3008 gt hybrid4, similar set up but with 295bhp. The power delivery is strange, it doesn't feel as quick as it actually is and the efficiency is a big bonus along with the performance. Great review as always tish
Thanks so much Eddie, you’re right they’re definitely don’t feel as quick as other cars with the same power or less. Probably down to the lack of noice
I can't understand why the majority of people prefer SUVs from other brands... But their choice of not buying these is our gain... I currently drive a 9th gen Civic and in a couple years time would probably be highly interested in upgrading to one of these for a fraction of the brand new price! Brilliant review Tish, actually sold me on one! 😅
I love the way the car looks and the way Peugeot are going about their brand these days, but man that price is steeeep If they could lower the price I think Peugeot would have a winner on their hands
I have to say, I love shaggin wagons… er… estates and this one is absolutely a stunner. I’m also looking for my next car to be a PHEV. This seems like a great car to start a family with.
Once again a great thorough balance review Tish. This looks like a great company car option but as a private car purchase I agree with you It might not make sense if you are bothered about residuals. The sensible option would be to get one of these used but clearly you won't be able to decide on the options. I have to agree that the newer badge looks much better. If only people could look past the badge and appreciate a car for what it is.
The best plug in hybrid has to be the Toyota RAV4 plug in hybrid with 46 miles on electric only and just over 5 seconds 0 to 60 4wd and loads of luggage space and the biggest selling vehicle in North America maybe you could give your honest review of the rav4 and let us know what you think great honest review as always Thanks
Unfortunately the depreciation on Peugeot cars are massive compared to some other makes , and the long term reliability is questionable, better off with a Toyota plug in hybrid, excellent reliability and good resale price and up to 10 years warranty , good review as always thanks 👍
@@gregrobins5615 This is from “Motorway”: “French carmakers all have examples of cars that perform badly for depreciation. For example, the Citroen C4 and Peugeot 308 hatchback are both competing against the VW Golf for new and second-hand sales, and do poorly as a result. Meanwhile, the Peugeot 508 family saloon has tried to take on the Audi A4 and BMW 3 series. As a result, buying any of the trio would lose you around 75% of the value to depreciation over 3 years. The worst news is that you’d lose more than 60% at the end of the first 12 months alone. A new Citroen C4 1.2 Puretech costs £18,610 new, but would lose £11,260 by the end of the first year of ownership.”
I would have preferred a 2 l engine with 400 horsepower, not hybrid car with tiny mileage I'm not sure... but fantastic review and fabulous looking Peugeot
I agree a sports estate is the answer. looks better than the saloon, which still looks great. This is the best looking estate on the market. You can't compare this with a Passat, its far too boring, this Pug isn't The interior looks good, until you look at the set up of the dash. The silly tiny, not even round steering wheel is a deal breaker for me, awful to hold and manoeuvre. If I set my seat how I like it, you can't see the dash, its awful. Its a marmite thing. I love marmite, hate the wheel Shame, because I think its a great car. Its too expensive, that's why no one is buying it, but a good showcase for future tech. You're spot on about the badge, why do people still always opt for German, look outside the box, people! Nice review again Tish
@@AutoSocialUK I have a 2019 Kia Sportage love it , hoping to get the new Kia Sportage or the mg HS exclusive with red leather interior, got 3 years PCP left on current Sportage so plenty time to decide , the mg HS is great value for money and more affordable on PCP than the new Sportage so probably be the mg HS exclusive it's beautiful 😍👌👍🏴
Please visit the Peugeot owners forum before even considering buying one. There are so many unhappy hybrid & plug in hybrid Peugeot owners of various models complaining it should make you think twice before ordering one. As for the Alcon brakes, hope they have fixed the calliper design issue that has affected the 308 GTI & RCZ equipped with Alcon brakes. If you do still buy one, get rid before the 3 year manufacturers warranty runs out. Panoramic sunroof no chance after seeing multiple complaints of the in built shower feature 3008 & 5008 owners are lumbered with that Peugeot still cant fix with them.
Totally agree with you on wagons/estates/shooting brakes over SUVs. This 508 looks great as an estate but as a sedan is very meh. 508 PSE is £45,000 GBP here in Au (GT trim) is a bit rich tho.
I agree with you also. Nowadays, most SUVs are just taller and more expensive hatchbacks. Also, I heard that you don’t get the 508 PSE in Ozzyland, but you get the regular 508 there.
Great video, Tish! Interesting car, this - definitely intriguing as it’s something I’m not familiar with as an American. The only thing I know about it is that Novak Djokovic did some advertising for it. Overall not a bad looking car, but the green accents just look like a wannabe Porsche hybrid IMO.
The kind of car Stellantis should bring to the US. Peugeot left the US market decades ago but perhaps a reintroduction with hybrids and EVs would build a market here.
Good morning Niece Tish. I love the Peugeot 508 PSE, but I would buy a BMW 3er Touring PHEV, cos it’s cheaper to buy, more economical and is cheaper to insure. Also, I’m disappointed that Peugeot isn’t making a 308 PSE cos of those eco mentalists in the European Commission making absurd emission regulations. Another thing I wanna point out is that the 508 PSE isn’t available outside of Europe.
The price is high so many brands trying to go premium and it never seems to work the German brands are so established that everyone has missed the boat. It’s a great looking car but the history of depreciation and reliability is going to make the going tough.
I'll tell you why this isn't a big seller, despite looking the part. The 508 PSE SW 'starts at' £55k. For a Peugeot. I'm sure anyone thinking about spending that much money will, right ot wrong, look at the usual German brands first, because unfortunately, many people are just badge snobs.
These look great and I do like the Peugeot cockpit. These seem very similar to the Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered. I prefer the saloons of both though but very good looking cars, I wouldn’t buy the Germans
Your channel is good. I quite fancy making car reviews. Do you manage to make a living from this and how many subs did you need before dealers would give you cars?
Hi Hector, it really does take a lot of time and effort. I still can’t do this full time but it’s a nice passive income. As long as you build good relationships with dealers, you can gain the cars pretty early on.
Dunno why people care so much what other people think or if they look at their car. Personally, I buy a car because I like it don't care much what it like looks to others.
It’s too expensive, £55k is a lot of money. I think Peugeot are moving into this space too early and don’t have the reputation to back up the price tag. The depreciation on these will be crazy and would be better to wait a few years, I bet you can pick one up for a decent price used.
Over £50k no chance, their cars don’t have longevity, after three years things will break especially electrical related, and parts are expensive, and depreciation, let’s not go there. Thumb’s up for the video!
6:57 omg that reflective piano black finish is an instant total turn off for me. I would never spend so much money to be constantly blinded by reflections. WHY do car manufacturers think this is a good thing!?
