Happy New Year man. What a great version, I hope to see it improve even more. I remember how blown away I was when they had speech in Blades of Steel. Ah good times. What hasn't been a good time is the past week and a half or so. After 5 years of not getting Covid, it finally hit out house. We have all been pretty sick. I have had it for 9 days now and I still can barely move. Needless to say, Christmas was cancelled, and New Years as well. We did manage to open up some presents yesterday, though we have some left for family that couldn't come. Thanks for the videos though they have been entertaining. Hope you have a great 2025.
Blades AND Double Dribble, Konami was great in the NES days. Sorry to hear about the sickness, Covid, been there done that and I know it’s not pleasant. Hopefully you’re feeling better now as this response is a couple days later I see. Thanks for commenting Jas I appreciate it 👊🏼
👋🏾🐻 Supercool stuff here. I remember back then when we were at Kay Bee Toys Store the first arcade game our Family bought on the 8-bit NES was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because we remembered playing the arcade machine at Pizza Hut. Happy New Year!
@@BushyStallion DARRYL , , ,get ready tomorrow I'm going to "my community" POST images of "Anthony Marquez" without his hat and with his Kung Lao hat , , ,catch ya later pal 🏆😸👍👍
Looks and sounds really good for being NES. I think the high quality sounds and music are sample file calls, and they don't sound terribly compressed. The sound was equally important to the graphics back then and this just wouldn't have existed back then..maybe a Gameboy port on NES at best would have been the OG's release. This high quality version wouldn't have been technically possible back then because of how expensive the rom capacity would have been, and we had already moved on from NES when MK2 came to the home consoles. I appreciate seeing what's possible once the capacity limits are omitted. Happy New Year everyone!
Man at the 27:34 when the game froze I was like NOOOOOO!!! LOL this game looks AMAZING I subbed to your channel a couple of months ago and I am really enjoying the content Happy New Year to you and Yours ❤❤
As soon as I saw Wu-Tang in the background it reminded me of the unreleased PS1 fighting game called Thrill Kill. It uses the same game engine as Wu-Tang and the premise of it is interesting. If you haven't heard about the game before I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot. Finding a prototype of the game (if I recall right there's one that's in almost completely finished state) should be pretty easy. If you don't want to bother with that then I'd at least recommend checking out videos of the game's finishing moves, goofy FMV endings and amazing soundtrack. Happy New Year!
I'll be looking here and forward to seeing final version. I think of some other games on this platform 🤔 and yes I think these will amaze us. Thanks for the video 😁 Most importantly have a happy and safe new year
Happy nee year my friend. Impressive port!!!! Yes they're using NES style but realistically I'm not sure if they could fit everything in a cartridge back in the day.... Impressive nonetheless
Happy new year man! Versions like these ("demakes" if you will) are good because the possibilities are still explored despite limitations on retro systems..this reminds of the good MK II on GB. I wonder how you feel about MK Advance on the GBA (recently saw it on my new emulator handheld), not sure if you have posted a video of it yet. Thanks again!
Smoke looked like he had ground freeze but it makes you freeze on the ground instead of slip and slide, and ice ball was also Jax's projectile. Jade had Mileena's drop kick and Reptile's force ball. Noob was scorpion but with Sai and that teleport sai throw looked dangerous.
Looks like a real decent port for a pirated version. I like how you get to fight the hidden characters as Shadaloo-like bosses before Kintaro and Shao Khan
OUTSTANDING!
I know the world seems bleak but seeing people just take it upon themselves to make passion projects like this is very cool. You couldn't tell me that midway didnt make this 😂
i like how the tower music and the intro music is the genesis mk1 music i always found that better for the game it was iconic, then the mk2 ports music! but the sega saturn and japanese versions of the games had that beach boys style music lol
I see Wu-Tang on the TV, ever played Thrill Kill? It was completed but then shelved by EA when they bought Virgin Interactive, and then it was updated and turned into Wu-Tang. One (or more) of the developers leaked it, one gave a copy to someone I used to know at an E3 show many years ago, and I got a copy from him. Fun game.
18:36 imagine telling our younger selves that in the future, screen flickering would be an option that you could turn on or off. Lol Our younger selves would be like..."why would you ever want to leave it on if you could turn it off?"
13yo me wouldve went nuts over this port! i was obsessed with the lesser bit ports of mk even though they played like crap. good old days. this port should be a greatest wonder of the world.. edit: holy crap they got the test your might song at the end!!!
(What are you playing Shaolin Style on in the intro?? The actual gameplay looks like the original PS1, but the title screen looks waaay newer. I've actually been wanting to play that game again for yeeaaars, man!)
Like I said, this version is pure bliss here...I can't stop playing it and I hope they can go further but I'll expect if they can't as it's already brilliant as it is here. I hope to be proven wrong here, for the fan by true fans of the genre.
Well said my friend, the one thing that would make this absolutely incredible is the inclusion of at least ONE Finishing move per character. Fatality’s ARE Mortal Kombat after all! Thanks for the comment!
@BushyStallion , be well and be safe into this year Bushes! It's gonna be an erratic year like many before with too many unknown variables but atleast we have vintage MK to fall back onto and MUGEN etc. Because the current MK1 and the community is an absolute mess out between old and new fans, game developers and such. Sure it can be interesting to watch in little segments?! I hear they might bring out Chucky(?!!) for MK1 and I'm like I'm done (for now) buddy.
if there was a NES version back in the day it would of been watered down like the Snes version, nintendo didn’t like blood in their games although that changed in the 96-97 period onwards on the n64😅
And it was the same team that made that old ass MK3 for NES. That one came with bootleg NES consoles and the music was auditive vomit, but at least was funny. Specially the Pit 3 one

Excelente solo falta la movilidad / jugabilidad. Aunque una lastima no tenga fatalities.

Happy New Year, Darryl! Keep up the good work with the quality videos. 👍
REALLY enjoying the Channel man.! Keep it up Bro
Thanks for the comment my friend I appreciate it! Justanish, you rock! 👊🏼
The only "complaint" I have about this version is that the audio is WAY too good sounding for an NES game.
That’s awesome when the worst thing about the game is still great lol thanks for the comment I appreciate the sarcasm lol Captain 🫡

It's sounding like upgraded 16 bit fm sound.
It does sounds like a NES game, from one of those Commodore 64 composers

The music played in the Portal stage is from the Throne Room from the Genesis MK1
incredible, will download it today for my Nes mini
Feliz año nuevo Darryl, NES on the MK2 is kinda weird playing it with only 2 buttons, but its challenging

It's insane that this is almost on par with the Genesis version even with the lesser graphics. All it's missing are the fatalities.

That song goes sooo fucking hard at the end!! NES style too, great hack.
I love the 8-Bit version unfortunately I had to mute it because of copyright crap.
raiden has the electric sound but there’s no electric coming out 😢 i’m hoping it gets added along with his teleport move and his tornado dash
