As someone who's a Denver Native, I would say this list is more of a suggested curation of a combo of trendy & mentionable places to eat. The ONLY actual iconic places on this list are Buckhorn Exchange & Brown Palace - simply based on their history & noteriety. Carmine's & Little India are definitely Denver staples. Rioja & Jax are long lived downtown staples. All great places, but don't scream "Denver Icon". At least, not quite yet. Stueben's is an OG trendy spot, inching it's way to "Denver Icon credibility". But it's still too new to be "Denver Iconic". Linger is only made notable by it being IN an iconic Denver Landmark. It's the big Ollinger sign & history of the mortuary that is ACTUALLY "Denver Iconic". The restaurant itself is too green from gentrification. Shanahan's is in a weird spot. It's like "Denver Icon Adjacent", lol. Q House, Tamayo, Williams Graham, The Plimoth, Uchi, Marco's CFP, Citizen Rail, Le French - all absolutely NOT "Denver Iconic". All are too new, &/or too buzz-trendy from non-natives, transplants, & gentrifiers, to be "Denver Iconic". Cherry Cricket is absolutely "Denver Iconic". Cholon is kinda like Rioja & Jax's younger sibling.
Cherry cricket has fallen so hard. Especially the Cherry Creek location. The one by Coors field is at least cleaner. A spot that isn't denver at all, but worth the drive, is bosphorus in englewood. My brother in christ, get the meat platter for 2 if you got 4 people. Then hummus and bread. Those folks are doing amazing things at like 27 a person with tip.
Agree on Cherry Cricket-the last few visits to the CC location have been bummers. Ballpark is still pretty good. I've heard of Bosphorus before but have never tried! I will now. Thanks for the intel.
yeah, maybe mentioning a few items on the menu of the restaurants, some favorites of yours , with video/images of the food, would have made the video better
Don't go to Cherry Cricket. It's so overrated & overpriced it's ridiculous. El Five should 100% replace that on the list. Best floor to ceiling window views of the city in a restaurant/awesome ambience & best paella you'll ever have. I ordered the most expensive steak at Shanahan's (The tomahawk) and it wasn't even good. Over $150. Also replace that with Safta, the best hummus/pita in the city.
@DenverLivingwithSam Spoken like someone who hasn't experienced Safta yet. In my mind, I don't consider Shanahan's a real steakhouse after paying $150 for the steak and it being incredibly underwhelming. The crabcakes & bread were some of the best I've ever had, but items like those should never outshine a steak at that price point at a real steakhouse. That should absolutely never be the case.
Brutal. Just terrible. Maybe one or two of those places are barely acceptable? Maybe? Shanihan's? LOL. Goodness gracious. Mercy. 13 years in Denver? Oh my. Wow. Okay... Ever been to El Taco de Mexico? How about Pete's Central (Greek). Or Charlie Brown's (Greek/Mexican/American). Or... I don't know...umm... Odyssey Italian? Me thinks you need to get out more. Pro Tip: ALL fish joints in Denver are terrible... guess why? Never mind. Perhaps La Loma? Try the Green Chili. Don't order the "fish" Sheesh. You're welcome. I'll kindly let myself out now... keep up the good work... I do so love your content... vs
Sam this is a mighty fine video. Dont even say otherwise.
You are too kind.
The place I like in the DTC is Zig Zag. Everything is good and the ribs are better than all the bbq chains around here.
Absolutely YES to Cholon, Sam one of my favs! Great reviews Sam.

Hmm respect pretty much
Agree-I was impressed with how right they got it.

Thank you Mitchell!!! Yes I agree.

I appreciate much about this comment. But we will absolutely not be replacing a steakhouse with a hummus/pita place, anywhere, ever, for any reason. 😄

Odd to not have even 1 Mexican restaurant in a city that has plenty of Mexicans and a territory that was once Mexico.
Oh we do actually have those!

You need to ask whoever taught you English that you need a refund. How do you write shit that's both that cringe and painful to read?
Man, all this because I called your neighborhood boring months ago? Personally, I'd just move on with my life.
@@DenverLivingwithSam No. I am just trolling you. Your stuff is high-quality.
OK honestly I respect this immensely. You win this round, VS.
