    Wow, it's working really well. Shows ya took care in what was needed during the build when the start of the season comes and can go right to work like that.

      Thanks Josh! I'm sure glad it worked out. I've made a few changes to it, but nothing major. Definitely a nice tool to have as a one man band!

      Denny's Country Life I hear ya there... Personally I still like handbombing small squares but it's such a time saver like ya said if it's only you doing the work.

      Hey Jake, thanks for watching man! I did a build series on it, I think it was five parts if you look back in my videos. It's been a real nice tool to have around, especially as a one man show most of the time.

      Denny's Country Life I saw u had a series of it up. Ya that’s why I need something then it can be a one man show when it has to be that way

    Ouch! That well head definitely hurt!! That grapple works really well. I wish I could use one, but I have too much hay ground.

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! it's definitely not efficient for larger hay operations like yours. Taking the dividers off, and running a accumulator behind the baler would be the way to go, if I ever take on that kind of ground.

    • @DennysCountryLife

      I'm not setup for using it to unload. We store a lot of our hay at a barn about 10 miles away. Otherwise I could.

    Just a thought, but on those well heads, could you dig around them and slip an oversize length of pvc pipe over it that stood above the grass a few feet to mark them like they do for tile vents?

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LVF & Northern Wisconsin Farming That's one of the best balers ever made! It'll crank put perfect bales if it's been kept well. Lots of good documentation online for troubleshooting too.

  • @WormHoleFarming
    @WormHoleFarming 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don't sell yourself short. It looks to me to be a lot easier and faster than loading by hand. On those "Well Heads" get a section of PVC pipe (3/4 in.) and drive it in the ground (about 2 ft.) by them. Drill a couple of 1/4 in holes just above ground level, to let the rain/ snow out, and to keep them from freezing and breaking off.

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a really good idea, thanks! PVC would work great. I hope all is well for ya!

    • @rollingridgeacres
      @rollingridgeacres 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We like to drive a steel fence post in the ground and slip a 2" piece of PVC pipe over it high enough to see.

  • @kasperhjbergrasmussen3543
    @kasperhjbergrasmussen3543 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice build! love it - thinking bout building my own, but gonna do an 4x3, so 12 bales. du you think the hydraulic cylinder and the dimensions on the steel could handle that? i might do a bit bigger dimention on some of it, so i'm most interestet to know about the cylinder(strength)?

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely go with at least a 2.5" cylinder. The 2" I used works, but is a bit weak. The rest of the material should be fine. The chute rails could be a bit bigger though. If I was going to build another one, I'd use 1x2 or something. Have fun with the build!

  • @zach_hewitt

    Have you tried unloading with the grapple?

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha, yes it definitely has made our lives easier! The barn we store our hay at is about 15 miles away, so it wouldn't make sense to drag the tractor over, but if I remove the dividers it would work great for unloading hay. When we eventually get the right setup, I'll use it for loading and unloading.

  • @kyleshafer4898
    @kyleshafer4898 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What about getting a video of unloading the hay

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do that by hand, and I honestly haven't thought about making a video on that. It would probably be pretty boring! Lol

  • @zoranvalentak2902
    @zoranvalentak2902 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You probably already know about this, but I've seen a couple of videos of folks from the US having Accuml8tors dragging behind the baler, which groups the bales as they are being made. Could be an interesting next project. You do seem to be more than capable of pulling something like that off seeing how you have already built this thing, :) .

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Zoran, I appreciate you watching! I've been thinking about building an accumulator. It would definitely save me a lot of time not driving around/bouncing around through the field for each bale. It's certainly on my radar

    • @zoranvalentak2902
      @zoranvalentak2902 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, nice, so you do know about them. Here's a cool video where you can see how one of these works. Maybe it will help you give you an idea how to do one for yourself.

    Do you have any issues with the 8 bales not staying tight in the mow when stacked high or on the wagon? Im asking because they dont have the 2 tie bales to stabilize the stack. Thanks

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't stack them in the barn with the grapple, I do it by hand.. for a few reasons. I don't have two tractors, and two grapples. I suppose it would be a problem, but if you get off the tractor or skidsteer every few stacks and turn a couple sideways, it's still better than doing it all by hand!

    when my hay help got hard to come by I though bout building a grapple. but got a good deal on a kick baler and built a kicker wagon. I already had the flat wagons they just needed sides. I think cost might have been bout the same.

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't mind having a kicker in the future! It's a great way to go as a one man band. This way uses fuel, hours on the tractor and obviously more of your own time. If I had a bigger farm to store wagons, I probably would have went that rout.

    You shood ideally be cross stacking the bales so that they stay together safer.

    • @DennysCountryLife
      @DennysCountryLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I usually stack the rear that way so they hold each other together. I can't do the whole stack that way because my trailer can't handle the weight of my tractor. Thanks for watching!

    • @wmffgeorge1589
      @wmffgeorge1589 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DennysCountryLife If I'd make a grab like that, I think I'd go without the separators imbetween the inner and outer guides. It would probably take more skill to yous when actively acumalateing, but with the righ size bales would let you cross stack from the side.
