Thank you! I always love your videos 💛
Wow, this video was made for me. LOL I saw you move the tax to do on calendar and thought oh my…she saw me do this! Then you turn around and mention writing a book! What!? I have been procrastinating on my third book. As it is the finale of the first two. Also bought a house last year and remodeled it. Now trying to get back in the swing after taking two years off…and I get overwhelmed right away. I will be watching this video again. I just found your channel today as TH-cam knew I needed to hear your words of wisdom. Thank you ❤
I would like to start more cardio/ sports so I can exhaust that itch I feel when I get bored or want to walk around the room whilst completing tasks. It’s become a real issue for me.
I got deja vu with the reader's question 9 minutes in, because it sounds just like me (but I can't remember if I left that comment, and I searched in my comment history and couldn't find it!). My procrastination for my writing is both emotional blocks and mental blocks: emotional blocks because I want the book to be SO GOOD and the perfectionism has me afraid of failure, and mental blocks because my brain is so tired at the end of the day after work (a lot of analyzing text and writing text). Love the description of author as an identity and your breakdown of writing in terms of "mini books" and bread crumbs. I get really excited about the outlining process and then drafting out the scenes I've planned gets blocked by the emotional limiting beliefs. When I was writing more consistently, I would finish my writing sessions with a brief description of where I was stuck, what I want to happen next, or any details to help me get started on the next part. I don't use AI in my writing process because so much AI has been trained on stolen, non-consensual material (and it's impossible to know what generative AI is ethically trained-currently, no public generative AI has been ethically trained), but writing out those outlines and reminders is something a writer can do. Books, podcasts, websites, and courses on craft are really helpful if the writer is interested in learning.
My problem was social media and getting my daily routine started let alone completed. I have digital planner I look over and check off my completed task and having proud feelings that for getting daily task completed. And being kind to myself and less comparing myself and taking accountability and also stop doing stuff I don’t wanna do. I also love my timer on phone. I’m listening to book on this and women. Thank you. I’m work in progress I’m spiritual and feel they are helping me get back in control and not my disorders. ❤❤
I’m a teacher and now I’m wondering how I can function doing projects constantly. Teaching is my passion but I am always overwhelmed by all the “projects” of planning mixed with a big task of grading and communication especially with families.
This was soo helpful. I knew this subconsciously, but it made me realize that I’ve been so emotionally blocked relating to certain things and that’s why I made no real move on them for years…
I believe the framework you described for writing your book is called a rough draft. I found very useful advice for breaking out of stuck from Adam Savage. He described the way he goes about starting a new project. He called it first order of accessability. Get everything necessary together first, before even trying to start. This works for me because I'm not actually doing it, just getting ready for it. But, now thst i have everything in order & have committed mental energy to planning it, the project is partly done. This applies whether you're making dinner, doing yardwork, or even doing computer stuff. Any tools & supplies you need, a drink or snack, etc. Especially, securing the time you need by - picking the best time with no interruptions, walking the dog first, and handling anything that could distract you from the job. Food is definitely important, because your brain runs on glucose. When your blood sugar runs low, your brain stalls and progress with it. Simple fix. It's a challenge for me because my metabolism runs like a wood chipper. Don't be jealous, you don't have to feed it all day
This was incredibly helpful. I'm currently struggling to study for my qualifying exam in my graduate program and tend to procrastinate when doing the bigger tasks first. I'll definitely keep what you said to heart when I start studying again today. Thank you so much for this video.

So - context - I already know what it is to live completely free of emotional blocks (for a whole 15-day period), but now... I can't do anything. I have been postponing 3 of those "tasks" for more than a week, but yesterday something weird happened. I was already walking towards the kitchen, to have my dinner (after procrastinating during the whole afternoon) but before leaving the living room I somehow turned around to my vicious laptop - without thinking much - and almost without noticing I was turning it back on with the purpose in mind to really open those god-damned ad-replies I got. And I did... without doing something else again during the process. I opened them, replied to all of them in whatever necessary time (because the problem is always to begin), and then... the rewarding dinner time that I wasn't even envisioning it at the finishing live, but just hyperfocusing on the task. Somehow, it was as if I tricked my mind while going for dinner... caught it off guard... without letting it create our mental content. Weird! Have to try that more often.

How did you start your coaching business A-Z? What credentials do you have - how did you overcome the uncertainty and feeling like you’re not good enough? How did you go about getting clients and marketing yourself & your services?
I got married about 3 months ago and have done nothing to get my last name changed and I would even get more monthly income if /when -but hard to get started can get this taken care of and yet still….
maybe take the tip she mentioned about starting with a planning session. make that a task.. to research and/or list out everything that's needed so u can have a realistic plan. try to stick to the facts and keep emotion out of it if u can. (preaching to myself here too) 🙌 and create an incentive that motivates u enough just to get started.. good luck to u
this is something I dreaded doing too, but I signed up for newlynamed and it broke down everything I needed to do in much more manageable steps so it wasn't so daunting. The good news is is once it's done, it's done! Good luck friend
Doing taxes is a great example that you picked. Funny part is that the IRS already knows how much we owe or how much they owe us. They are just making our lives miserable by asking us to do our taxes.
2:04... finally did 4 years of taxes this yr. I missed out on that 2020 refund and stimulus I didn't get😂 tryna get my life together 😭 This feels personal lol I definitely hired a tax lady because it will never get done 😂
I watch all TH-cam videos on 1.5x speed instead of the normal speed. Somehow it is easier for me to keep focus if the video is played faster. It's just a tip. Maybe it works for you too or maybe it won't.
Is this aimed at people running their own business or freelancing? I've never had to file a tax return my whole life, as the tax is just deducted from my wages automatically.
11:46 Do you have a list of limiting beliefs that you get from your clients It would be a big help for me if you had a list like that that I can get access to :-)
Pretty soon the government will have all the info on what we made and spent that year and will deduct their portion automatically from our account with digital currency. And then none of us will have to do our taxes. lol

Thank you for this video!!
I give myself rewards when getting things started but finishing them is another story
First time see you and can’t thank you enough!!
How are you able to be so organized and self motivated with ADHD? You seem like the most well put together person.
Thank you. Don't assume what you see is all there is. I have my struggles, but I'm also dedicated to this process of building an ADHD-supportive life so that I can share it with this community.
I know I have issues when it takes me most of the day to watch one of your videos on procrastinating 🤣🤣🤣
OMG this video was a dream!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
This is perfect.
Caren this help me so much! Thank you thank you. Hugs!
New sub. Heard you on your podcast . Good and helpful info. Thx
Miss, I love you 😂❤ This is so helpful !
I haven't been diagnosed with ADHD but I have a terrible time moving forward when it's time to make a change requiring to let go of something I have an emotional attachment to 😢
Wow it's hard
Thank you for those practical tips:)
Super helpful, thank you!
I have put off hanging my curtain rod. I finally did it but now I need to put the tools back and it just seems like too much. I am on my couch feeling slumped and low energy I may even sleep. BUT I have been sleeping since yesterday noon because I work night shift at a hospital. I slept through the night till the morning today.
Where have you been all my life?! This is only my third video and I feel better already…
Or do what i did! Marry a accountant lol
Actually we met in 2003, i was 20. I didn’t even know i had adhd. Ive always struggled with it, but didn’t know what it was… honestly im 41 now, and i just realized a couple years ago, that this is what I’ve always had.
Love your videos.
You get more money by changing your last name? What kind of mess?!
maybe take the tip she mentioned about starting with a planning session. make that a task.. to research and/or list out everything that's needed so u can have a realistic plan. try to stick to the facts and keep emotion out of it if u can.
7:06 Is there some type of digital body double. Because of my ADHD it's hard to keep people around me as I lose interest in them quickly.
Thanks!
OMG, thanks!!!
You brought up taxes and I clicked off and went to a video on cryptids. Then I felt bad and here I am.
Hiring an accountant to do our taxes was the best $250 I’ve ever spent. Or do spend.
i am literally a CPA and i struggle to do my taxes on time too 😂 (a CPA with ADHD, but still)
My biggest problem, real problem
Doing taxes is a great example that you picked. Funny part is that the IRS already knows how much we owe or how much they owe us. They are just making our lives miserable by asking us to do our taxes.
2:04... finally did 4 years of taxes this yr. I missed out on that 2020 refund and stimulus I didn't get😂 tryna get my life together 😭
This feels personal lol I definitely hired a tax lady because it will never get done 😂
I keep wondering how can a person with ADHD can watch long 20 min videos? I barely can focus for 3 mins tops.
You speak for me.
I watch all TH-cam videos on 1.5x speed instead of the normal speed. Somehow it is easier for me to keep focus if the video is played faster. It's just a tip. Maybe it works for you too or maybe it won't.
I think your onto something. I will try this for a while@@naomit6166
Yes. This works for me too. Although the actual speed is determined by the "style" of speech.@naomit6166
I pay a tax agent for mine 😂 in Australia its different the tax office already knows all your salary stuff its connected my gov system.
Is this aimed at people running their own business or freelancing? I've never had to file a tax return my whole life, as the tax is just deducted from my wages automatically.
you had me until AI...
Is your client the girl from 'How To ADHD'
Jessica? No.
Ya taxes put me into a meltdown
So long and too many ads pop up!
I love listening but its more of the same too much mind overload.
11:46 Do you have a list of limiting beliefs that you get from your clients It would be a big help for me if you had a list like that that I can get access to :-)
I do, but it's not something I could share.
girl i've been struggling to get started for months now it's not even funny
Yeahhhhhh, I guess I don't really care about this degree program... not shocking tho
Pretty soon the government will have all the info on what we made and spent that year and will deduct their portion automatically from our account with digital currency. And then none of us will have to do our taxes. lol
Nice! Yes chat gpt already helped me a lot! It's indeed a good buddy to help us
Sloth? Watch 7 (Seven) its a great movie....
That’s gold Jerry! Gold! 😂😂 Thank you so much, very helpful @carenmagill
