    I subscribed to both channels!!! I have an Olympus CX-21, and I use it in some of my videos. It was a gift from a family friend who had no use for it.

    I was lucky enough to come across a vintage Vickers microscope from a charity shop last year for £80.It has 5 objective ports but only three are fitted,which were 4X,10X and 100X.I replaced the 100X with a 40X which I'm sure you would approve of.
    It also came with 2 metal eyepieces a 10X Carl Ziess Jenna and X15 with EU Botany Dept stamped on it. I already had a Breeser WFX5 plastic eyepiece which give good low power views.
    The set up gives a power range of 20X to 600X.
    It is a single eyepiece scope but is of all metel construction and has most of the features your microscopes have and I think I got a bargain.
    Thanks for your videos they are both useful and entertaining.

    I specially like the hole in the stand of the stereo trinocular for looking thru at the surface the microscope is standing on in perfect balance. Maybe I add a led light later on. Thanks for your channel

    Hello Microbe hunter! I was wondering, provided you haven’t already made a video on the topic, could you make a video talking about the differences and possible advantages or even disadvantages regarding upright microscopes vs inverted microscopes. You are my “go-to” guy for advice and information about microscopy and there are not any videos on TH-cam regarding the subject. At least non done by someone as interesting and fun to learn from as you.

    About the projection ocular: Be happy that it's for 35mm and not for one of these "cropped" image sensors. I don't see any problem, you can change the EOS 600 body to any (even used, old and cheap) 35mm body, and you'll only benefit from the bigger sensor size. I understand that you (probably) got the 600D back then for the tilting screen feature, but in general its sensor never was that great. Nowadays you can get a much better body, true 35mm "Kleinbild" (I still refuse to use the marketing term "Full Frame"), for less then you'd spend for an even only moderate microscope objective on average.
    Go for it, you won't regret it.

    Do a video with the butterflies! I think that would be very interesting especially if you can tell us about the whole “don’t touch a butterfly’s wing” thing.

    hi. when you say "objective from the same series", do you mean 160 versus infinity or plan plan or ch40 series?

    What do you suggest for something that is most amateur. Like for example to look at chip boards. just something like 0.2 to 0.5 microns size about your thumb in the screen?

    Hello Oliver I got a question. Would you recommend a Bresser microscope? Is it a good or a bad microscope brand?

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When you look at the Bresser website, you can see that they are mixing together toy microscopes with more expensive microscopes. Bresser (just like many other brands) does not make the microscopes themselves, but they rebrand them. So it depends very much on the specific microscope model that you want to buy. You can not simply go by the brand name alone, but have to look at the individual model. So I am afraid that I can not give you a satisfactory answer, also because much depends on individual taste and expectations. Maybe someone can comment on how satisfied they were with the service.

    All objective lens fit to another microscope brand or its just for specific microscope brand

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends. Infinity objectives are brand specific. Those objectives that have 160 written on them can be exchanged. But it is also not a good idea to mix different 160 objectives of different series together, becasue their focus might be different when you change magnification.

    Oliver I have a question. I have a Lecia ATC 2000 microscope with 4,10,40,&100x oil infinity objectives. I got it from a university selling off its old microscopes and the 100x objective image is very cloudy and does not focus well with oil. I was considering replacing it with a Zeiss objective of the same specifications. Do you think Zeiss would be a better objective than the factory Lecia 100x oil objective

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cloudy image could mean that objective is damaged. Clean it, unmount it an look through it from the back side or with a magnifying glass to check if there are deposits etc on it. Zeiss or Leica does not make much difference, these are all top companies. But not all objectives might fit.

    Which 300 euro microscope is equivalent to yours Olympus?

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Comparison extremely difficult if not impossible. Reason: what are your criteria for comparison? image quality? resale value? availability of spare parts? Availability of service? modularity? Concerning image quality, many EUR 300 microscopes are comparable to the Olympus. Much is also a question of personal preference, even taste. Some people would rather buy a second hand microscope from Olympus/Leica/Zeiss/Nikon than a new one from a lesser known brand. Other people don't care. From what I have heard, many people are quite happy with a Swift SW380T, but I do not have one.
