Quick question,if I wanted to stop at masking tape step to make several of these(to hide around town) and spray paint over the tape,do you think the spray paint would be enough to seal the tape from moisture?
It probably could for a short while, but not in the long term.

I like that you guys show cheap and different ways to make difficult templates.
Thanks! There are so many different approaches to creating a prop. It's easy to get side-tracked by exciting methods and materials like 3D modeling and fiber glass. It's important to remember that you can make anything out of anything, and that costume making is something accessible to everyone.
We don't want people to feel they can't participate if they lack certain tools or materials.

by far one of the best builds youve done in a while, my only complaint is you didnt show the lights being merged together, just wouldve been a nice touch, also you should do more with your lady pirate more often, having 2 people in the videos always makes me smile ^_^

Great build! Question... how did you keep the light from spilling out of the bottom of the skull?
We added a removable piece of EVA foam. It's just friction fit into the opening so that it can be removed to turn the lights on/off and change the batteries.
