    Great stuff I love your never say die attitude. As long as you have the fly in the water there is a chance. Tight lines from AUS

      Thanks for watching Norman. There's always a chance if your lines in the water. I know there's fewer fiah coming through now buy we've seen a lot over the past couple of weeks entering the river.

      Thanks Toby, yeah getting a few now. 4 this week, only two on camera unfortunately. A lot of fish coming into the Tay system everyday, we're seeing them come in at the bottom end. You'll catch up with one soon enough. Just keep plugging away.

      @scottishoutdoorlife only thing I can do atm lol. Won't have too much chance in the next few weeks unfortunately. Hopefully have a few goes on our club water soon. Will try and get a day or two on the Tay this year. Well done on the 4 for the week.

      Thanks for watching. I've been wading the Tay since I was 10. Although I funnily now take a stick in the really awkward spots. Didn't used to but I find my balance even at 43 isn't what it was 🤣

    I remember that happening to my reels and it was either a ball bearing or the cog and pin were loosely together in other words worn

    • @scottishoutdoorlife
      @scottishoutdoorlife  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks, I'll take a look. Only a year and a bit old so hopefully not worn already.

    • @FraserCheyne
      @FraserCheyne 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@scottishoutdoorlife ooft, that's bad, I think it puts the shaft out of line with the toothed cog and therefor as you complete a turn of the handle at different points you exert different forces so it contacts then slips then contacts then slips on the cog. Bad design or poor materials is whatvit sounds like but you might be able to upgrade a part or parts. Usually the thing that's attached to the shaft or spindle is plastic and therein lies the weakness. I used to know what the bits were called- all spinning reels work about the same way, or they did do when I last took some apart.

      @FraserCheyne thanks for the info. I'm not too competent with the engineering. I have a few that have small issues, I might send them away to get them fixed

    Great stuff getting a fish. The handy thing with the rain is that you don't need to fall in to get wet! As for sticking your backside up in the air when the lighting is flashing about, I think I will leave that one to you to try out and you can let us know how you get on.

    • @scottishoutdoorlife
      @scottishoutdoorlife  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      🤣 I think it rather hide under the trees again. It was absolutely pouring although I was surprisingly dry at the end of the day. My jacket must be holding up well. 👍

    • @colinjohnston5465
      @colinjohnston5465 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@scottishoutdoorlife Glad to hear your jacket is holding out. You really can't have too many good jackets. I keep telling my wife that you need one for every eventuality. In summer it has to be lightweight and fully waterproof for thunderstorms, lightweight for just normal rain and a third 1 for when there just might be showers or it's iffy. Spring and Autumn need at least 3 each and it is different cold/warm in Spring and Autumn. Warmer Winters make your choice of jacket tricky so maybe 4 or 5 or more depending on which field+sport you are participating in.
      That said, none of them are lightning proof.

    • @scottishoutdoorlife
      @scottishoutdoorlife  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Morning, thanks for watching. My set up is a 15ft Loomis NRX, a Rio Long Head Spey Floater. I had 5ft of Airflo slow sink tip and a size 10 partridge patriot cascade variant of my own tying on.

      Two fish in two days that’s great , the water looked like it was at a nice flow . Always a dilemma when you are fishing with lightning around. Do I stay out in the open or hide , hide :-) How do you like the NRX ? Thanks for taking us along 🥃

      Hi thanks for watching, it's a 28g Abu Toby. Better for casting further and sits higher in the water for fishing over shallower ridges etc. 👍

  • @HunterSW1

    Are you allowed to spin fish salmon on the tay?

    • @scottishoutdoorlife
      @scottishoutdoorlife  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Not all beats allow spinning but most of the lower beats will spin just due to the size of the river especially in higher water. Many of the pools can't be fly fished. Thanks for watching 👍
