Installers are the backbone of any company. Seems like besides the $35 if the customer goes with the job the installers should get another cut. Sales people always seemed like they never wanted to get their hands dirty.
80% of my work comes from a referral of some sort. The rest somehow find me. I have yet to do any real advertising other than just had my trailer lettered. I want to see how it pans out this year.
We did $340k in 2022. Our goals this year are $800k. We just met with a marketing specialist to build a better website and seo. Any advice on how and when to hire a sales person?
Hi Shawn, THAT'S AWESOME 👌👏👍 WAY TO GO!! Here's how I would look at it... We expect our seasoned salespeople to sell $1 million+/year. It takes our people a year or two to get to that level. So, the first year, they might sell $500k, year 2 $750k. We pay our salespeople on commission with a 90-day hourly rate at first to get them through training and their feet on the ground. So I would say , if your cash flow can handle it and you are reasonably confident in the $800k, now is the time to start looking and hiring a salesperson. (Good Sales people self generate their own business, so they will help you push past $800k) Hope that helps, I can tell you're busting your hump! Keep up the good work!!
Hey Dave and Josh! When your company first started, how long did it take until you and your families were stable financially solely through your gutter business? - Future gutter business owner.
Congratulations on hitting $1M in sales. However, needing 3333 leads to get $1M in sales is not very productive. If you generated $1.2M in sales by way of 3333, that puts your ADL (Average Dollars per Lead) at $360. That's an extremely low ADL for a gutter business.
He's right, only 18% of gutter businesses answer the phone. And barely any follow up after calls. I've called hundreds and it's crazy to me.

There's no better form of marketing than referrals from satisfied customers. Nothing else even comes close.
