    @imalwaysright 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Players and coaches have been testing the boundaries of the rules for ages and didn’t adjusted their tackling because NRL enforcement had been soft. They knew they could get away with it. The NRL should’ve had balls earlier. Magic Round was a deliberate over-correction to force change. The NRL should reward good tackling, even if that means a slower play the ball. They should make some leeway for accidental high shots. They can still award a penalty even if it was accidental.

Banning the offload would help achieve the goal. Also ban the fast play the ball - have to wait till the player is at marker. But the rule changes are also about 'faster, more exciting game'. So should we be questioning the sincerity of those wanting to protect the players if they also want such a fast paced exciting game. Slow the game down and you'll get less head high tackles.

If you’re fatigued then don’t play.
Better safe then sorry. Rugby league in 2021 is a sport that requires fitness levels to be at its best on game day. If you’re unable to give 100% during a game then why play at all ?
A new rule that prevents players from a long term brain injury shouldn’t be an excuse for poor performance. Look at Penrith and Melbourne. These players just work on progressing their skill and fitness, so when a new rule comes in they can adjust themselves accordingly to perform well on game day. Titians defence on the weekend was shocking, hence why they gave away a lot of opportunities when Penrith was down a 1 player.

    this is incredible,
    when they
    (the powers that be)
are saying that the game won't survive in 10 - 15 years if we don't defeat the concussion,
    the truth is...
    they are not exaggerating,
former players loved ones are seeking litigation advice on financial recompense for the possible lack of care to players welfare thru a 1-3 year window period prior to the current leadership.
(ie. knowing that concussions could/can lead to a deterioration in the quality of life,
and failed to take ALL possible actions within their power,
eg; Strongly enforcing the laws/rules of the game,
    tackles/contact above the sholders)
    now,
I do not blame those families for investigating this route,
remember these are sons, brothers, husbands and Dads,
that can't remember why they walked into a room,
or look blankly at someone and get embarrassed because they forget what they're talking about...
(remember not all players are paid $1,000,000 a year)
    the reality is,
if the NRL are found to have been lacking in the duty of care during that period they could face a multi-million dollar lawsuit,
now if that was to happen,
    could the game survive?
    yes,
    maybe...
    (remember,
    less than 12 months ago,
covid-19 revealed that the NRL's war chest was empty)
but if the NRL is found liable,
the clubs could also be called into question...
and if a club has failed to do everything in their power for a players duty of care,
now that would hurt the game we love...
    If one club is guilty,
    all clubs are...
and game can not survive that.
    now,
some will say that the NRL are just looking out for their own pocket and interests,
some will say that's just tuff luck,
you know risks when you sign a contract...
    but the truth is...
everyone has the right to go home in the same condition as they arrived at work.
    and...
The NRL has identified and placed the player's welfare as its number one priority.
and if that is not enforced
    we won't have a game.
    *remember,
    I'm not a reporter,
and I have absolutely no credibility,

      agreed,
in the heat of battle mind farts can and do occur,
      myself,
I am guilty of them when I played.
      yes headgear,
      mouth guards and neck braces,
are all available for players to utilise for personal safety.
they are not compulsory because that is the country we live in,
      hard,
      with the freedom of choice.
but the problem that the NRL is facing is not that players are being
concussed just because of high tackles alone,
(head injuries can occur from any number of accidents on the field as several former players have said)
the problem is that information about concussions being bad,
was released and made available more than 5 years ago.
      the HIA was introduced 2018?
      and prior to this,
players were placed on report for contact to the head and remained on the field,
then come time of the disciplinary action,
the NRL had/has a loading system that allows a player to play the following week without penalty,
not to mention that clubs would spend thousands on QBE to defend others.
This does not sound like a sport that has taken immediate actions to reduce Preventable head contacts
      (the 1-3 year window)
      (yes,
not all concussions are from high contact,
but we can have a direct effect on the number of concussions from high contact by encouraging players to change their on-field behaviour thru punishment and corrective training)
      In short,
the NRL are trying to stop/minimise concussions they have the direct ability to prevent or at the very least deter.
