Ok just did this job. A few extra notes. Make sure the sway bar comes off completely at the lower control arm or you wont get the old ones out or new ones in. 2. You need that long bar to push down the control arm to get the new ones in. My neighbour had a 2m steel crowbar and it was perfect. 3. There are 2 19mm bolts on the bottom under brake calipers, those must be taken out to get lower control arm low enough to get new ones in and old ones out. 4. Dont hit the tire rod nut when hammering the tie rod end. It spins within itself if the nut is bent. You should be able to tighten it by fingers to its lowest point then tigthen and put in split pin. 5. I did mine on the street with a car jack, make sure you got 2 vehicle stands so you can rest the car on the stands, and use your jack to raise lower control arm enough to get the 19mm bolts in. 6. Dont take off sway bar front brakets, just loosen them, the ones attached to the lower control arm come off for sure, other wise you cannot get struts in and out. 7. Anthony you da man, jobs done cheers, wheel alignment tuesday AM.
Hi I'm from Puerto Rico, To adjust the high of the air bags put sone washers between the chassis and the sensor, that way you level the Prado in increments, more precisely,
Hola amigo, me puedes explicar un poco más cómo van las washers? Tengo el mismo problema con mi prado, deseo levantar atrás pero tengo los airbags y no sé cómo hacerlo. Gracias de ante mano !!
Had my 2009 Kakadu done this week with a 40mm lift using Dobinson and Airbag man. I had the one in a hundred that was a big problem. The rear drivers side kept dropping down significantly. They tried everything even leveling the chassis from the car with the air pump turned off and zeroing the rear sensors, but nothing worked. 16 hours later they dropped the front passenger side strut about 10mm, lucky I got the Dobinson for the adjustment. This is still within specification and not noticeable but that little adjustment at the front fixed the rear level. Let’s just say that where I got my Kakadu done on the Sunshine coast will never touch another Kakadu again after mine. They had done several of them before without any problems. When the car went in the rear sensors were set with one at max height and one at minimum height. Looked like someone had done a doggy fix on a KDSS issue in the past. Worth checking before doing suspension if they are adjusted widely different or if one side has a spacer on the sensor at the rear. This would indicate a possible problem. Thank you for your recommendation for Dobinson suspension. It ended up saving me.
Great video once again. One thing I also find hard to source due to the KDSS lines running down the side of the chassis are replacement side steps. I noticed they had some on that Prado, would they be custom made?
Been putting monos in a few cars people seem to be pretty happy with them that one in particular lockdown hasn’t been driven much I don’t know that it’s been on the tracks at all you Gotta make sure Work doesn’t get in the way of life but for that vehicle unfortunately Work seems to be getting in the way of it hitting the tracks actually I think it did hit the tracks once
Did you have to replace the top hats with Hilux ones? That's what Dobinsons did on my 09 Kajadu. I got the extended airbags from Airbag Man on mine with replacement struts as well in the rear.
Fantastic info herein and channel. i am new to your channel and have a 150 series 2009 Kakadu with all the 4x4 mods/upgrades dating back to 2010 - 2013. OME suspension upgrade in 2012 with the lean issues that no-one can fix - not was i warned of this beforehand! I am very keen to replace with Dobinson. How do i get a quote/order - noting most providers i talk to dont know there is size difference in springs from left and right?!
Air Bagman make an air bag Yasser is 2 inch taller, i have a 2011 LexusGX460 and in checking that option, let me know what you think, in appreciate your opinion, Thanks
Awesome info, ironically we are looking at the 2014/2015 Kakadu for things like the airbags and KDSS (and maybe Crawl lol). So nice to see a video on them being lifted the standard 2". Also maybe for all the extras for the kids since we are filling the car with them haha. Just on those rear airbags, it looks like what the rest on is a sort of cup. Maybe it's the engineer in me, but couldn't you custom make a set of cups with the extra lift required and put on a longer shock? Less stress on the bag.
Thank you mate. I am looking at the Dobson. Vx pre facelift 2013 with airbags. Do you recommend changing the front control arms ? And do you recommend doing the suspension after adding the bull bar. Cheers in advance
Hi Anth, so it's ok to just drop to ends of the swaybars? I'm about to upgrade to similar setup and dobsinson and others have info about having to release kdss shutter valves? Have watched I think all of your vids on the suspension but don't recall seeing any discussion in this? A bit paranoid about some of the disclaimers from manufacturers.
is it possible to retain TEMS adjustability (comfort/sport) by keeping the old strut and only change the coil to hold the weight of a bull bar and maybe a winch in the future. I read about this in one forum and someone mentioned to use the 300 coil from Dobson. What are your thoughts?
Hey mate, great vid. I’m not great at this computer stuff but I have a 2013 Kakadu with air bags/kdss set up so looking to get this lift done. Can you fit this for me and how do I contact you to quote the job up? Cheers.

Those Prado's are really stealth looking and so solid! Nice work!
Awesome info Anthony thanks for the Kakadu lesson learning so much more about mine
Also. What brand of side steps ar they ? Hard to find good ones that fit with the KDSS lines on the side. Sorry if asking too much

Super keen to see a follow up on this Anthony 👍🏼

Been done by an engineer & I didn’t like it.
Then they failed many times
Costly & inconvenience to owners
@@Fourby4Diesel Fair enough, without seeing how they failed, I'll take your word for it. Shame tho.

yes the valve must be loosened 2 to 3 full turns, not sure why this guy doesn't mention it other than he might not know.

Hi mate are you based in Brisbane would like a quote to install this lift on a 2014 150series gxl prado

Hasn't this guy ever heard of airbag man? They sell 2 inch longer replacement airbags. You can also get airbag spacers for the standard airbags.
Get with the programme obviously on your first video 🤷♂️😁😂
Cheers, gonna get those front dobbos!!!
Did you end up getting the front dobinsons?
@@ProjectLabz yes and they have been awesome for 2 years - Got em from Anthony.
