Everything you need to know about crew members dating on cruise ships

  • Hey sailors
Being in a Relationship whilst working on a cruise ship is very different from being in a relationship on land. There are three main reasons for this:
    1) You know you have a limited amount of time together because most likely, you are going to be from different countries with different contract lengths
    2) Relationships are so much more intense because of the fact you are able to see each other more than you would on land and due to the fact you are away from your loved ones and the familiarity of home.
    3) You are always able to stay in the ‘honeymoon’ phase of the relationship because the realities of life don’t really apply to crew members.
Now, this all sounds fine, there are some downsides to this which I will explain in today's video so if you are curious hat the best way is to approach a relationship onboard a cruise ship then be sure to watch the video where I will reveal everything I have learned over the four years I have worked on cruise ships.

You have no idea how much this video has helped me. I never do relationships on cruises because of what you just said but I met this girl on my last contract. We spent every second together, we worked together and for the last month we lived together. There were some big issues that we choose to ignore because we loved each other and now that we are far away we both realize that we were not meant to be and it's been a struggle to get to this point because she was a big part of my life for over 8 months and breaking up feels like a piece of me was rip out and it hurts so much. Every memory from that contract, every souvenir, everything that I bought reminds me of her. I never knew that letting someone go could be so painful. Thanks for your words, it has helped me to start to heal.

and this is true that he works so much and never overcomes that adventure in what he contributes; and let's say that it is not for lack of economy but to have a partner close to yourself and to depend on a distance in which he can coexist. That's why we Chinese only think of our accounts both men and women and so it costs us to have a stable partner both in a job or day for the couple.

I have to tell you that your videos are extremely informative and entertaining. You've obviously got the 'inside track' on life aboard ship, but perhaps more importantly, your presentational skills and delivery really are top-notch. Clear diction, excellently improvised scripts, a very personable appearance, (hey, it matters...) and the perfect balance of confidence and humility. It surprises me that you haven't been snapped up for a senior training position or even a managerial/executive position in HR or passenger liaison with your kind of skills. Should you ever choose to make a change in your career, those talents would make you very suited to working in fields like media, PR, client management or executive assistant. Clearly you're still a young woman so hopefully you'll go on to bigger and brighter things in your current career or another avenue. Very best of luck to you and thank you for your excellent content. xx SF

As a Purser on Princess, there is an incredible amount of dating. You are in a small city and you can't help but see the same people day in and day out. People just gravitate to each other because you are confined to a limited area. Its easier to date on a ship than anywhere else. Everybody is away from home and love is where you find it. Plus the girls are so gorgeous. Ships officers even have gfs in different ports that they see. Its really quite fascinating. There are showers onboard for girls getting married to other crew. Its great!

A lot of what you said in this video regarding romantic relationships on cruise ships also applies to college students who are far away from home and living in dorms. They, especially girls, can latch onto one person, make that person his/her whole world and his/her academic work can suffer because of that.

Hi, I like the quality of your videos! :)
You are sooo right about EVERYTHING you said.....been there...working on a cruise ship can teach you A LOT about yourself and others. It s very easy to get attached to someone too fast even tho u would not do it on land. The environment can also make you act too emotional because of the level of stress and long hours of work and all that also. It can be very tricky... Some of them even have double lives, whole families back home but acting like they are single on the ship just to get some physical connection. Never met so many liars in one place before... But the experience is still a blessing...you just get to understand and look at things and people different after being there. The lessons you get to learn from some individuals that are so different from what you are used to...it all can become a good thing at the end of the day. The ”goodbye” can be devastating if you had someone around ALL THE TIME for like 6 months and you both live in on opposite sides of the world... Life s just different while on board...and you always got to be careful. Especially your first contract can leave you pretty f***ed up... But still...best experience EVER :)

    • @grazielaalmeida8438
      @grazielaalmeida8438 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You don't even need to meet someone from the other side of world, sometimes the goodby is devastating with somebory of your own nationality, and becouse of this you tought it would work on shore, but no, you found out that your own countryman doesn't want to see you on shore.

I am a professional seafarer, I go to sea to work, I keep my personal life at home.
Keep your personal life and work life separate.
I know lots of people who don’t. If not you risk getting your heart broke.
If you don’t have a heart, Go for it.
Realistically the truth is a lot or most seafarers don’t, at least not when they are away from home.
I do know a couple of people who met their partner at sea.
I also know people who have a partner at home and a partner at sea. Which can get complicated.
Finally I have met a lot of interesting people at sea. Mutual Respect and friendship last longer when you don’t get involved.
I do know people who worked out, I know many more who didn’t

I really would have liked to have seen this video before starting my first contract working on cruise ships.
I had 2 failed relationships, and they broke my heart (one of them had a girlfriend on another ship, and just when I was finishing my contract, she arrived from a transfer).
The other one had a wife and a son on land, I knew this because a friend added it to her Facebook and saw many photos.
Everyone has a double life on board, and you will never know the truth. They only show you what they want.
Thank you for these videos. It really helps a lot, especially to people who are just starting out in this world.
I distanced myself from my friends and stopped enjoying going out to ports just to be in that "relationships."

I've met several women on ships that I, as a passenger, would enjoy knowing as a non crew member. However, after hearing her talk about how many different partners she seems to say crem members have, I'd be very doubtful any of them could be trusted with a long term relationship. I might be wrong, but what about the married crew members that have long contracts? Not for me. I find some of them very pretty and some even very desirable, but trust any of them. doubtful, I noticed on this video, no nose ring. She looks much nicer in my opinion.

You should look into putting some sort of ecommerce store on here with links to various stores to various products that would be good for cruising. Clothes and different attire for different occasions??? Just a suggestion. Good luck to you. OR find some good cruise ship broker OR vacation broker that has affiliate program for referrals were you can make commissions. Or/ and even book cruise vacation as a passenger and do vlogs. Your probably more qualified than anyone else doing it, just don't make it "official" type, do it to show what to do and how from a passenger stand point. Like your videoing your cruise vacation. And the ports

Yes. It's just a matter of paperwork. This can also be arranged for long-term serious relationships. Sometimes you get a double bed. Sometimes you get bunk beds. LOL.

There are several types of cheating and temptation in this world but I do believe that if yo girl loves you so much she will definitely committed on you and hold the promises she said and she will never cheat on you. You should trust her to make your relationship work tho💯
You should trust me vincent😊 Yes it will definitely our relationship work and last. Don't be scared, I love you😘💯

Your girlfriend, if she’s at least moderately attractive, will be pursued like a super model. Best case scenario she’ll only have one or two hookups, but not get too emotionally involved. When she comes back, don’t ask her if she cheated. Assume she has. Now the next move is yours.

It sounds like a bunch of malarkey. She claims like the person you're with is always there. Workers on a cruise ship are often work like slaves. When you're done working you're often very tired. After 12 hourshift you may not want to spend time with somebody else. You're Shifts may offset. You're working when they have free time, and they're working when you have free time. His cruise ships will change the flag on their ship to a different country designation so they can abuse the employees more. You make minimum wage and a lot of positions on a ship unless gratuity is guaranteed or tips. Where do you get the money and time to spend with this other person. Is sexual harassment is probably very strict. The slightest comment or infraction and you're off the ship.
