Thank you, Nicola, we really enjoyed watching that. Oh to be in a rubbish dump again, lol. Love the arms - they are so elegant - would love to cast them! The photos at the end was a lovely touch too. Take care, Gail & Alex xx
Just stopping by to let you know how much I enjoyed Treasures In Lockdown and watching you bimbling about the bottle dump. To the young mudlarks, seeing you takes me back to my childhood rockhunting, and finding fossils on a fishing trip. I took a few to a rock shop and the shop owners were ecstatic. Unfortunately the fossils are long gone because my parents moved; they'd been stored in our basement. It was delightful to see your excitement and sweetness as you showed off your finds! Thank you Nicola for coming up with the idea and giving them the opportunity to share their moments of history hunting with us! Take care- love and respect from Montana! P.S.- I love the postcards and old adverts too. Thinking about the people in the photos chokes me up.. thank you for sharing those moments with us too.
Hope you and the mud larkers near you are keeping safe and well.A Eucylptus tree blew over last night on our street.Thankfully, neatly into the neigbours garden along the fence line. Our area had been a brick works and dump so it may pull up some treasure.Stay safe and thank-you to all of you.
I loved Galloway cough mixture when I was a kid.it had a lovely taste and warmed your throat.I used to keep taking a swig when my dad wasn’t looking 😀I loved it
Greetings from rainy Oregon! Glad you kept the pot with the man on it. That was my favorite find. I was thinking it might be the bottom half of a humidor for loose pipe tobacco. Take care and stay well! ❤️

Thanks for all the information you give us on your finds its fascinating.
My heart is always touched when I see old photos! I find myself wondering who they were and how they spent their lives. It’s so heartbreaking to know they are missing pieces to a family history. I recently was given a copy of a portrait of my great grandfather who had built a little chest I’ve had handed down to me. It’s like finding a missing puzzle piece. Thank you for sharing!

Zubes! I remember they used to make throat lozenges and they were on sale in the 1960's. They were even advertised on TV and the ad went something like 'Zubes Good For The Tubes'
Really Nicola are you kidding, we could spot a pipe a mile away by now, I loved the the little sad face on the porcelain doll, so mysterious. Thanks Nic, awesome as always. 🇨🇦🐘🍁🤗
It's 2023 now and I enjoyed your videos of Mudlarking in England. I used Rinso laundry soap when I was young and a newlywed. In each box of soap you got a bath towel, hand towel or wash cloth. Can't wait to see more videos 😍.

I do miss the days (before my time -- for the most part!) of product names that sound silly today, but had some relation to the purpose or use of the product -- like "Rinso." Stay safe and healthy!!!
The jug with the Gilbert verse on it was made in the Devon (Torquay) potteries, probably around c1900, and I would guess from the colour of the glaze, possibly from the Aller Vale factory. The mottoes are often misquotes (I suspect they were inscribed from memory), and sometimes featured bucolic phrases and puns - they were the sort of thing you bought at the seaside for a few pence and took home as a present for your nan, usually bearing phrases such as 'A present from Minehead' or the like.. I love this stuff, and have quite a large collection of pieces, dating from about 1880-1954.
Vince R., Thank you for sharing your expertise on the "Gilbert" vase. I must admit, I never was a fan of Gilbert & Sullivan but for some reason that base intrigued me.... Now I have a better understanding why; thank you again for sharing your knowledge. I imagine your collection of pottery is quite colorful, beautiful & interesting! Well wishes from the US.

It's a dream of my to get over there and dig in a bottle dump some day lol. I love all of the old history and such. I also really want to go mudlarking.
Flutterbys! What a lovely surprise start to the video, So beautiful and colourful. Nature is so inspiring and uplifting 💖 Pretty bead too! I'd love to see all the beads you have found.
18:21 I have a friend that owns a pipe shop and he told me that the type of clay pipe you found was used in the pubs back in the day. It started off with a long stem (nearly a foot) and the bartender would give it to the person who smoked a bowl, then after each smoke they would break off a small length of the stem, once it got down to the size you found they would toss it out.
Was the tip re-dipped in red wax as well, to stop the pipestem sticking to their lips? Most pipes clogged up after only one use, so it must have been quite wide. Fascinating history.
@@nicolawhitemudlark I shared your video that has the link to the clay pipe research society with him. He is very interested. Thanks for sharing your videos. They are a genuinely uplifting side of TH-cam.
Well Nicola I’ve gone and done it!!! Tested positive for Covid on Friday so I am in quarantine trying to take care so these symptoms don’t get any worse!! Loved seeing the photos after the finds. I could almost imagine who might have used the perfume bottle and who might have smoked one of those pipes. Continue to stay safe my friend!! Love, DeeAnn 🇺🇸
Great wildlife and music and finds and clean up and research, Lovely Nicole! I remember when I was a wee one, there was Rinso Blue, wash blue. The same company and I think these products last longer in rural areas as opposed to cities. These old items and old photos I've always Loved. My Grandfather sold $10 worth of Larkins soap and received a camera, tripod and all the things needed to develop your own photos. He was 12 at the time so this would have been 1904. I have the camera and many of his photos. When we find these old things, old photos, news papers, pottery and bottles, it reminds us that life should be taken in, every minuet. All those lives gone before us and we wonder how they lived, what they thought and their joys and worries. In actually, I believe they were the same as ours are today. Perhaps they didn't worry about fixing their auto or TVs but nevertheless the same as we are today. As long as I can remember, I be in the midst of a wonderful time with friends or family or exploring Nature and realizing how golden this moment is. I look back on times with Grandparents and Family, Friends, Pets and those passed and feel blessed and privileged to have had these experiences. Seize the day, the hour the moment, because they go so quickly. Just when you talked about 100 years from now and what will the Larkers find,it was my thought just before you mentioned it. Plastics and more. But I suppose people will be wondering just as we do today about how we lived and our feelings and families. I think of all those many lives that that dump represents, all the many years and stories buried there. All their lives as important and as significant as ours seem to be now. So love each second with the Joy of Spirits that we are. Love, Light, Peace, Joy and Kind Thanks Nicole! DaveyJO in Pa.
You truly ARE the clay pipe whisperer!! I have often thought of what explorers in the future would think of all our plastic and what they would interpret is our rubbish story. A bit vintage, but I would love to see us use more glass again. Love the history! Thank you fir the video. Always enjoy the nature scenes and music.
I really love that you show us the wildlife about ! The gray necked young trumpeter swans were absolutely beautifu l! And the very first butterfly was breath taking, oh spring cannot get here soon enough !!! Thank you that your videos have made lockdown easier. Anna's tiny treasure dolls were crazy cute. Pockadot pipe, the delicate hand, -THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING ! - celebrated cough syrup, even the sad face doll piece you found brought me back to being small and falling in love w a doll with a pecular face, remenbered the feeling, like this doll needs me. wow thanks Nic, you made my day ! lol !
Hi Nicola, that was fun to watch. Never knowing what would turn up next in the bottle dump. I love the ladies arms. So cool now you have two. Thanks for all the amazing history stories. The soap opera one , I never heard about before. Rinse is today Tide. The old photos were a nice touch at the end. Take care, Joyce. ARROW *🎱. ❤️. 🇺🇸. 🙋♀️
Gosh! I remember my mother using Rinso! I must be old.😉 I think that you must be an old soul, Nicola, to appreciate these items from the past. That’s a good thing.
So many things to find in the huge bottle dump Nicola! I would have been disappointed if there was no pipe find. I remember my Mum using Rinso washing powder. We had Rinso in Australia until the 70's. I love the word bimbling. 😁❤
Galloways cough mixture was always my first choice, the children loved the taste, but sadly no longer made, would love to have found this as a reminder of times gone by. Keep up the great work, in this time many peoples only access to the out doors is by you and people like you, sharing. thanks again
Wow never knew that about the soap powders but I sure remember rinso being used in the 60z in New Zealand so it continued to be used there. Thank you great finds and video xx
Well, that takes me back A few decades... Kind of like when Kyle mentioned ponitles A day or to ago... But what, no Lea & Perrins We found cases of those with the little glass Stoppers only outnumbered by 3 in 1 oils. Another relaxing Sunday thanks Nikola.

Enjoyed this very much. Hope you’re doing good in lockdown once again. I luv the history of your finds and found the Rinso and Tide informative. I’m a soap maker so hearing some interesting facts on the subject of soap is always of interest. Plus my mother was an avid soap opera watcher, which of course had me watching along with her. Brings you back to Madge and Palmolive 😀 luv from Canada 🇨🇦
Just at the moment you mentioned about finding our current trash compared to what you were digging up, I was thinking that exact thing. While I’ll never find your glorious bottles, coins or clay pipes, I do think about the plastics that will be our history. Thank you, dear heart, for sharing your lovely life’s hobby/job/art with those of us who just wish we could. Take care. ❤️

Oh yes, and I should add the Somerset equivalent of 'bimbling' is 'fertling', as in 'I had a couple of hours to spare, so I went fertling around the bottle dump'. What a wonderful thing our language and its dialects is.
I have found a few newspaper fragments of the 1890s here. They are often preserved by charring. I find plastic in 1950s dumps in California & Hawaii. Yes I've found other's tools at dig sites, only found an owner once. I am able to reengineer broken shovels &c., and have given tools away to others, often new diggers. That was a nice blacking bottle you left for someone. In June of '19 I found one stamped "Blacking Bottle". I found a decent amount of stoneware there. A lot of it went in trade to a collector removed to the Big Island of Hawaii. Tide's in-dirts out! Unhand me! I try not to deliberately kill bugs, even centipedes which are one of the few biting animals around here-bitten once by a Pit Bull, kissed by many.
I am 81 years old and I used Rinso soap when I was young wife with a family. If I were able I would love to do what you are doing. I live in Arkansas, United States

It's a dream of my to get over there and dig in a bottle dump some day lol. I love all of the old history and such. I also really want to go mudlarking.
Another great adventure added to the playlist.
One on frog, especially in this corona period.
Flutterbys! What a lovely surprise start to the video, So beautiful and colourful. Nature is so inspiring and uplifting 💖 Pretty bead too! I'd love to see all the beads you have found.
Thanks Nicola. I so look forward to the Sunday Larking. Take care. 💜
Thanks Annette x
18:21 I have a friend that owns a pipe shop and he told me that the type of clay pipe you found was used in the pubs back in the day. It started off with a long stem (nearly a foot) and the bartender would give it to the person who smoked a bowl, then after each smoke they would break off a small length of the stem, once it got down to the size you found they would toss it out.
Thank you Randall!
I’ve been SO careful and especially so since my surgery in Dec. so I have no idea how I managed to pick it up. Thankful to have another superb video from my friend I haven’t met yet to entertain me. Loved seeing the photos after the finds. I could almost imagine who might have used the perfume bottle and who might have smoked one of those pipes.
Continue to stay safe my friend!! Love, DeeAnn 🇺🇸
DeeAnn, Oh sorry to read of your positive Covid test. Please know others are sending healing thoughts your way & be well soon!
Your video was just what we needed, a moment of peace and escape, thank you Nicola ! Take care, Josie and Andy 😃
Hi Josie and Andy! So glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Thank you for sharing and caring, love your videos. God bless and stay safe and well 🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗
Rinso was still being used in NZ in the late 50s. I remember it well as a child. Thanks for another interesting vid. Keep safe.
Lovely opening
Thank you Rachel! X
That bit of video where you captured the swans swimming and the blue sky reflected on the surface of the water was breathtaking.
That's my kind of place!
- celebrated cough syrup, even the sad face doll piece you found brought me back to being small and falling in love w a doll with a pecular face, remenbered the feeling, like this doll needs me. wow thanks Nic, you made my day ! lol !
27,000 followers.... that’s big time.. so happy for you.... love the pipes and bits...so happy for you truly... jam

Thank you Margi x
Beautiful intro, thank you, and your friends are awesome ❤️from Ontario Canada ☃️❄️
Thanks Nancy. I love butterflies x
So many things to find in the huge bottle dump Nicola! I would have been disappointed if there was no pipe find. I remember my Mum using Rinso washing powder. We had Rinso in Australia until the 70's. I love the word bimbling. 😁❤
This video is literally the stuff of my dreams! The jugs are fabulous!
Thanks Jane! so glad you enjoyed. It was a lot of fun x
Galloways cough mixture was always my first choice, the children loved the taste, but sadly no longer made, would love to have found this as a reminder of
times gone by. Keep up the great work, in this time many peoples only access to the out doors is by you and people like you, sharing. thanks again
love the old bottle dumps .some great history under the soil
Wow never knew that about the soap powders but I sure remember rinso being used in the 60z in New Zealand so it continued to be used there. Thank you great finds and video xx
Rinso was still being used up to the 70s, in NZ, I believe. I remember my mum using it in our twin tub washing machine when I was little!
Awesome video and finds and I love the history lessons. I got all hooafteed all over again Nicola 👍❤️
ha ha, getting hooafteed is very good Mr Chipps. x
Well, that takes me back
A few decades...
Kind of like when Kyle mentioned ponitles
A day or to ago...
But what, no Lea & Perrins
We found cases of those with the little glass Stoppers only outnumbered by 3 in 1 oils.
Another relaxing Sunday thanks Nikola.
Hi NICOL Another great video. I must be getting old. I can remember Rinso and Tide and I have taken Galloways cough linctus. It did work. So nice to see Anna about again. Keep up your great vids. They help to keep me sane in these difficult times. Much love to you and yours. Stay safe.
Wow Nicola! You had some great finds on this trip to the dump! Excellent video. Thank you!
Thanks Julianne x
Just at the moment you mentioned about finding our current trash compared to what you were digging up, I was thinking that exact thing. While I’ll never find your glorious bottles, coins or clay pipes, I do think about the plastics that will be our history. Thank you, dear heart, for sharing your lovely life’s hobby/job/art with those of us who just wish we could. Take care. ❤️
always a nice time to see your videos. all the best from munich.
Thank you Peter x
I'd love to travel to the UK someday and mudlark! You guys have the most amazing finds!

That stone wear vase would have been perfect for my paint brushes [sigh]. Another excellent video Nicola.
It is wild to me what people threw out long ago that we look at differently today. Great video.
What a great day! The doll head Anna found was amazing until I saw the teeth 😳 then it kind of freaked me out! Wonderful video and great finds!
I just love all your videos. My favourites are those lovely jugs. I can see you have put Tulips 💐 in the bigger jug, really pretty. TakeCare and KeepSafe.🥰🏴😷😀🦋

O nic Such a great job I enjoy watching you guys out there makes me feel like I'm out there I used to do the same thing when it when I was a your age I enjoy it all the time I can't wait to see your next win next week👍🙏❤🌟
Oh yes, and I should add the Somerset equivalent of 'bimbling' is 'fertling', as in 'I had a couple of hours to spare, so I went fertling around the bottle dump'. What a wonderful thing our language and its dialects is.
Oh I love that. Fertling! I will use that next time x
@@nicolawhitemudlark In West Sussex Fergling...I've heard Bimbling used in East Sussex (Brighton) too!
"Ferking" is what my grandmother called it. Don't know if it's used in Britain or just Newfoundland!
I stumbled on your channel (and Si-find’s) quite by accident and absolutely adore your channel. Thank you for sharing all of you adventures.
Thank you Vicki. Welcome. I'm glad you found us ❤️
Great finds Nicola! Thanks for sharing another adventure 🙆
Nice finds. I love all those bottles and shards of pottery and PIPES!!!
I am 81 years old and I used Rinso soap when I was young wife with a family. If I were able I would love to do what you are doing. I live in Arkansas, United States
So glad you enjoy the videos Brenda ❤️
Brilliant as usual Nicola. So interesting. Nearing the 100K mark, Whoo Hoo!!! x
A fun video Nicola. Thank you. Consider having the two hands made into earrings. They would certainly be unique.
