    I love me a good surplus store but ya, I always keep my eyes open at the swap meets. Fun show surplus tends to be WAY overpriced.

    • @boonedockery7220
      @boonedockery7220  ปีที่แล้ว

      Surplus stores generally tend to run high on pricing due to their overhead of a brick and mortar store.

    theres has been some great videos on youtube from people doing a bugout challenge and overnight with stuff they find on flea markets and thrift stores,the idea is you dont have to be rich to get outdoors but also how would you scrounge stuff up to get by in shtf if you cant get to all your stuff you stockpiled,its actually fun to watch.

    Ya, Molle ll packs are known to crack the frames, might want to pick up couple extra when you get the chance. Got to love flee markets, garage/yard sales found many good deals at 1/10th the price. Happy hunting !

    Oh I love flea markets! My once in a lifetime find was a Kifaru Zulu pack in Multicam for 15€! The aluminium bars of the carrying system were missing but I ordered replacement parts for 20€. Kifaru sold this pack for 350$ or so...

    Man, you are a lucky guy !!!
    There is never any "mil surplus" stuff at any of the flea markets around Chicago.
    They may have some old WWII or Korean War items, but they are always rotted out, completely corroded, etc.
    Mil surplus stuff is frowned upon here in Liberal Democratic Chicago.
    With all of the gun violence happening here, you would think that they would be more "pro-military".
    But, alas....no.
    Keep up the great work, Brother !!!

      I am lucky with the surplus finds I've made and by having sources near where I live. I am also very blessed to live in Appalachia where God, Guns, and Patriotism are the trinity of life. Also, Our county is officially a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary. Blessings to you and yours Brother! Great to hear from you!

    That looks like a V tac sling w/o the padding. They're not as padded as say blue force gear, but way sleaker. The only thing I don't like is the buckle is metal and has a tendency to mar up my rattle can job :P The blue force gear is plastic, and less durrable but less prone to scratching finishes and uncapped optics. I love my v tac on my plastic bullpup where I don't have to worry. "Tactical link" is a great buckle with a QD point that you can replace existing buckles so that you can quickly transition from 2 point to 1 point. Great piece of kit if you need those options.

    • @boonedockery7220
      @boonedockery7220  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will check out the "Tactical Link". It just came to me that the edges of the metal parts could have a few layers of flex seal (dip or brush on) to keep it from damaging any surfaces.

      Yeah, I have few packs... I would recommend dying clothing first. You'll have the greatest opportunity for a successful dye job. I'm still going to be experimenting with 500D nylon to perfect the quality of color.

    Well you got yourself some good Bargains there especially for some of the stuff that you really do like, and how can I tell that look behind you. That wall is packed with everything it looks like, everything that you like and more. Are you starting your own army or are you thinking about it? Why in the world does one man need that many packs? Except for the fact that you really do love them they come in handy when you need a certain type of pack. Again you got a great bargain today.

      Brother, I have a large family. Very few of them are into camping or the like. "IF" the crap hits the fan, I can pretty much completely kit out everyone in just about everyway. Plus I have choices as to what pack I take to a wild camp. Mission Specific! That, is a lot of fun.

I saw it in a cabinet, looked nearly new, $45.00. I went strait home to get the cash and when I returned it had already sold..... :(

    A cheaper way to disinfect camelbaks and water bottles, denture cleaning tablets. Does the same thing as the more expensive camelbak cleaning tablets.

      Very cool pro tip! Thank you for sharing this! I just checked prices on line. Camelback charges $14.00 for 8 tablets. Wal-Mart's "Equate" version of Efferdent is $8.52 for 120 tablets! Yeah, that's some serious savings! Thanks again! Have a great weekend!

    Problem with being a geardo and flea markets. I go into a flea market or surplus store, let’s say I see….a Mystery Ranch 3 day assault. Yes, I’m that big a nerd to know rough pricing for gear off the top of my head. It’s a curse. That or curiousity kills me enough to check google. Aaannyway the 3day is $400-450ish from mystery ranch. Can find older generations for around $140-$170. I’ll see it in a store and the seller will be $750.
    For this specific time, the booth owner just happened to be there. He told me he knew what he had. It was in good shape but not nearly $300 more than MSRP.
    I have bad luck with Gucci stuff. Least in my area.

    • @boonedockery7220
      @boonedockery7220  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually just keep on walking when I see the seller has over priced their stuff. They usually are the type to dicker with.

    my fren i have more questions and i know you can help!!
    Can you put other USGI ruck bags on the FILBE frame? If i got a molle 2 (in the multicam i want) large sack - would it latch onto the frame without issue? What about a ILBE bag on a FILBE frame?

    • @boonedockery7220
      @boonedockery7220  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not certain as to the compatibility of the MOLLE II Large Ruck on the FILBE Frame. However any pack that is compatible with the ALICE LC2 frame should be compatable with the FILBE frame.

    • @boonedockery7220
      @boonedockery7220  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, He has what he has and doesn't get much of anything new in. I've bought all of his stuff I was interested in. However, I found an old 2 gallon onion bulb cast iron kettle in his shop. Jas Townsend sells a reproduction that looks almost identical for $340.00. I offered $50.00 and the owner said SOLD! You Got It! I had a blacksmith make me a bail for it for $10.00. So, he does get new stuff in, just not in the way of surplus.

  • @improvisedsurvival5967
