      What’s in the test

  • @sparkoceanic
    @sparkoceanic 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    As someone who'a failed twice now, and someone that has a brother that failed twice also, here's what we both failed on:
    [Failing to cancel indicator].
    It is a hard thing to build into muscle memory if you haven't managed to get enough hours riding on the roads to learn how to cancel non cancelling indicatators.
    [failing to perform emergency stop]:
    Both of us had slightly wet conditions on the days of the tests we failed to this reason.
    The only thing i've learned so far is to load up the front brake about 95% and only tap the rear brake lightly.
    It will depend on the actual bike you are riding, but practice these a lot before your test on different road surfaces to learn the capability of your bike.
    If you skid even a tiny amount it's a fail, and if you can't stop before 12 meters when the instructor raises their hand (15 in the wet) it's a fail.
    You are given two attempts and take penalty marks if you can't do it the first time.
    Our bikes have both been enduro dirtbikes with enduro tires. Road tires should make it a fair bit easier to stop without skidding i think.

    Thanks for the refresher. I've been sitting on my learners for a while & needed reminding of some things.
    I know this doesn't help anybody but I got very lucky, having had my L's once before I got in just before some kind of grace period when I applied for my L's a second time & I don't have to do any of the logbook stuff. I could have booked my practical test immediately if I wanted.
    It at least serves as a reminder that the rules could change, although I'm not aware of any changes since this video was uploaded

    Great video, the only edit, if not already mentioned, is just because you can go riding with someone who has had their license for more than 4 years, doesn't mean you should. For example, my father in law has had his motorcycle license longer than I have been alive, at the time he got his license, he literally had to ride around the block with a police officer so they could deem that he could confidently control the bike.. He has little to no experience in current day methods, best practice procedures and ways to handle a bike that is expected of one to be riding on the road now days. As such, his recommendation, was go and get as many hours on the bike with a licensed, well recognised (reviews help) instructor on their approved bikes. Instructors are better suited to help set the foundations for good riding habits, and once you've got enough time in with an instructor, you can then go riding with any person(s) whom you're allowed to ride with so you can concentrate on working on what you learnt from your lessons.
    It's far easier to set good, safe riding foundations from the get go than it is to learn how to ride a bike and then have to shake bad habits because you and the person you were riding with didn't know any better. You don't know what you don't know, and seeking assistance and paying for a professional to help you is worth every cent.

    Finally a video explaining the whole process. I am really confused regarding step 3 as a foreigner who just converted his car licence here and don’t know much about licensing.
    I am 36 and have a C class licence already, in regards to step 3, does it means I have to book 50 hours of driving lessons from a driving school? I don’t know anyone with a bike licence here.

    • @shackletans1055
      @shackletans1055  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dorian, I completely understand your confusion - I was in exactly the same position. The answer is no, you don't have to do 50 hours because you're over 25 and have a C class licence. You only need to wait 6 months from the time you get your learner's permit before you can do the hazard perception and practical tests.
      I would still recommend getting lessons because you will be taught exactly how to pass the practical test. But you only need to do as many as will make you feel confident - you won't need to do 50 :)
      Go for it!!

      @@lefaaleanga269 Hi LeFaaleanga, I was not too sure what the answer to this question was myself just from reading the ridesafe manual so I called the Department of Transport. They told me that you only need to do the log book for your first class of licence. That means, if you have already done a log book for a car, you DO NOT have to do the log book for a motorcycle. The only time you have to do a log book is if you get a motorcycle licence BEFORE a car licence. So the answer to your question is no, you do not have to do the log book if you are on your P Plates. All the best! :)

    Just wondering if you could help me with some information?
    I am considering getting a R-E motorcycle licence in the near future.
    I have held my R-N (moped) licence since 1991 & C class (car) licence since 1992.
    For me to get my R-E licence what do I need to do? I can see that I do not have to log the 50 supervised hours but will I still be required to have a learner's permit for 6 months then sit the Hazard Perception Test even though I have held a R-N licence for 31 years?
    Thanks

Even though you already know how to ride, there are road riding things you need to know - like how many times to let your indicator flash before changing lanes. Or the sequence for turning blind corners (eg head check, move left, wait until you can see through the corner, cut the corner, head check, move right).
