- Welcome back to another Rust Base Design for 2019. The SOLO Stronghold rust base design is a strong and easy to build base design, designed to be a solos rust base design, but can be used for solo/duo/trios if required. This rust base design contains features such as compact item placements, undrainable shotgun traps, a bunker if you like, a 'starter to main' build style, and loot spreading to increase the raid cost of the base. This Rust base will cost more than 1,371 Explosive Ammo to raid DIRECTLY to the TC and well over 1,971 Explosive Ammo to get all of the loot. This rust base design is extremely strong for its cost and can be used for solos, duos, trios or small groups and can be expanded to include more honeycomb if desired. It also has the option to expand to add a 2nd floor above for extra storage, or a shooting floor.
Rust base designs need to ensure that they are strong and with this rust base building tutorial i will show you some great rust tips and tricks as well as some rust advance building tricks.
This rust base design is a “starter to main” build meaning it’s built in stages and is expandable - you can live out of the starter and expand the base in stages as and when you have the resources to do so.

Only been playing for a few weeks and have been solo each time. Is it that great? If so I'll build it today because, though I love the other base design I use, it can be somewhat difficult and time consuming to keep up with the rss needed to prevent decay.
Hey man thanks for stopping in. My base designs are focused heavily towards being easy to build. They each start with a small and secure starter base and slowly expand out so that you can do so when you have the resources available! If you ned any help just let me know and remember the cost is in the video for all bases and the upkeep is within the TC at the end of tour.

Hey bro - its difficult to find a good speed for new and experienced players, hence the speed i chose - all parts can be slowed by those if required hence why i show the speed increases also :) appologies for the speed

hey bro sorry about tha, i try to go at a speed which works for new players and experienced players to follow along - u can use youtube settings to slow down if you like - i try to keep the videos as short as possible, but i will take note and see if i can expand upon my current method for future :)

How to Watch: Play in 0.25 speed, and view the video 25 times :)
For just watching - should be fine at normal speed. If you’re trying to follow the guide in real time whilst building - that’s not what you’re meant to do xD the idea of it being built in stages is to ensure you don’t get killed / ganked whilst building. Memorise each expansion and do it part by part when it’s safe to do so. If the parts are too big - do a little bit, run inside to safety, do a little more and repeat :) if you need any help just pop me a message on discord
Very efficient base design with your signature tier 3 to tc. Sadly it kinda requires garage doors, turrets and shotgun traps to be very effective.
Draxis32 yeah it’s still doable without the shotgun traps etc but obviously shotgun traps turrets and garage doors make it better

I just started playing 4 days ago. So far every one of my bases have been raided. 1st time because I had a wood house. 2nd time because I had wood doors. 3rd time because I didn't build honeycomb around my core. So now I just built a version of this for my 4th base. I messed up on the shotgun trap part because I didn't watch carefully enough. But I still hope its good enough that they dont raid it. Or if they try they give up after too many rockets. I also added a shop front to one part so I can look outside for door campers.
The shotgun traps don’t necessarily increase the raid cost - rather just make it more difficult to raid and can sometimes save you from a raid. At the end of the day if someone wants to raid you they will no matter the cost. We just like to make it as difficult as possible for them to do so :)
I can guarantee this actually works, I’ve used it for months now and I’ve only gotten raided once by a group of 4 but they didn’t succeed, and I didn’t even have honeycomb

the foundation under the air lock can be 4rocketed and then the wooden half wall its cheaper going true the foundation than the 2sheet metal doors and a stone roof or metal roof. going true the foundation only costs 4rockets and little bit of low grade but going true the airlock is 10/6rockets and 20exp ammo

@Angela Merkel I made it sheet metal on the whole back wall an foundations then put one layer of honeycomb triangles over the sheet metal an made them stone so it still looks like a stone base.
Just tossing out my opinion on the video style. I prefer the way Evil Wurst goes about his base descriptions as opposed to only music and sped up upgrading parts. For me, the speedups get me a bit disoriented with the layout and it's a bit harder to follow along without having to pause/slow down the video.
Respect the design choice for making the video shorter and whatnot, just something to consider because I know some people prefer to hear the base creator narrate the entire process as they go along. It can offer you chances to express your philosophy behind why you chose those layout specifics and offer simple alternatives as you go about the building process.
Bryan id like to give audio over the entire video soon - as of yet the extra time to do so isn’t something I’ve been able to spare :( and yeah much of it is sped up however these are only upgrades and you can slow them down via TH-cam if need be :)
I also missed out a 2-3 minute part at the start where I usually talk about the base and al of the items inside it

Does this only work if they don't know where your TC is? Cause if they do it's only a 6 c4 raid through the stone honeycomb and metal roof.
Leo Yuan there are a LOT of different walls and roofs for them to be able to guess 1st try where your TC is - it won’t happen xD

Hey I can’t get the bunker to work. The triangle piece can be placed without having a half wall and when I break the half wall once sealing the triangle just stays connected. Any help?
Yeah so you cant have the bunker AND the trick by door - it's one OR the other. You may have to mine out the section by the door and JUST have the bunker :D They dont work together

So that people cannot splash damage down from the roof you should put half walls on the interior of the honeycomb on roof(or at least make it metal). As is the bace is 6 C4 to Main Loot. If possible you should work on a three metal walls(12 C4) to main loot design.
I know it’s a solo design but at least 2 metal walls are needed. Because this is a metal 2x2 with stone honeycomb.
Also if you do read this another good suggestion is to put a rocket to main loot counter at the start

I would spend the extra stone and have the extra upkeep to make the roof less allowable splash damage, they can completely open it up with 12 rockets
Hey bro, you cant entirely open the base with 12 rockets, you'd need to do that x2 to get into the whole top of the base - however yes i would usually use half walls around the square lootrooms on the top too, i forgot in this video as it was my first in a few weeks off :D
look im not talking down on your design, i think its a great compact base and its actually something i might use in the future or use parts of. But without that half floor properly sealed, it is only 12 rockets to get tc, furnace center, main loot and the wb room. you can spend 4 more rockets and open up the last square and triangle near the entrance although i personally wouldnt do that if i found main loot and tc. I get that you said you would normally seal the top properly but others might not know to seal the top half floor and seeing as this is a guide without that important step this base is not as secure as it should be. P.S. I do have a video of me raiding this base on a creative server that i can show you based solely off this video without the properly sealed half floor showing that it is 12 rockets.
the big lootbox inside the triangles drops the loot outside the garage door when broken, so maybe only good for small loot boxes?
Yeah u can push it further in - is only for bad loot :)

You can but it takes a lot for the tier 3, u can destroy the tc easily like that but its much harder to loot! Used to be fully unlootable but not anymore
Is this really practical though? Won't Breaking down those doors and workbenches early take way to much resources?
Tier 1 is rally easy to destroy - but you’d hope that if oi have 500+ scrap to upgrade it to tier 2, that you’d have enough for a few spare tools to knock it out

Don't know why but when I copy this build exactly I cannot get the bunker floor to work with breaking the twig I always gotta use stone and pick it out. any ideas what im doing wrong or has it been patched?
Yeah you cant have the bunker as well as the half wall entrance peak spot. You have to have one or the other :D
using foundation instead of the half wall entrance for shotgun traps the bunker won't work either way for me

Is it possible to get this base a shootingfloor and a roof access so u can land a heli on the roof?
Just as a spitball idea while watching, it seems like you could pretty easily remove the roof shotgun trap and have a triangle tile from the wall instead as a platform to jump onto what would be the roof above, creating a shoot. You could then from there design a shooting floor and further adding roof access in any orientation you wanted with the roof floor plan.

ok im confused... during building it looked like you did a square with a triangles on 2 sides.. but then the expantion pic looks like there is another triangle on the right side. what am i missing

I'm a noob, can someone explain why i need to put garage/large doors on the triangular loot stashes when the boxes poke through and can be accessed/broken and looted? What is the point of the garage doors?
I just did the placement wrong - if u place it properly then the loot cant be oppened without getting the door. It's a difficult one

I think the raid cost shown in the video is directly to TC using explo ammo... but direct to TC would be 1 stone and 1 metal wall (I believe). I would obviously recommend upgrading the TC and main lootroom to HQM and then honeycomb to metal (should be easy for a base this small) and that’ll increase the raid cost to 23 rockets direct to TC only - then add more stone honeycomb and you have a 27 rocket cost direct to only one lootroom / TC - then more to raid the rest of the base :)

Very nice base - but there is one thing that all base builders fail to do with their youtube videos... make a "build a long with me" video... Where the viewer can be in their rust game and with their TH-cam app on their phone they can build a long at a normal un-modded pace. The stress of building a base on a live server means you make mistakes and it's hard to remember the process when a video is sped up so much. Maybe try that for your next video - this is not a criticism, just an idea to set you apart from other channels!
Hi there, I try to break my bases up into small chunks so that players can memorise the starter - once the starter is down the safe and you can expand slowly - I try to build at and a pace that works for new and experienced players but it’s a hard middle ground - you can try and reduce the speed of the video using TH-cam settings if that helps but I’ll try and check my speed for future builds :)
@@xRaWYT hey man that's fine, like, you're better than most who do these sort of vids and this build is something I'm about to do myself tonight. But a sort of real time "build along with me" style video could be cool to see as well as this type of video, no channels seem to do it. And I am a bit of a noob rust player and I've tried doing a few base builds from TH-cam and almost all of them go wrong because you're having to rewind, dissect, and remember what comes next whilst fighting away any potential foes! It's probably just a noob problem but I reckon the majority of people watching are like me haha

Dont know if someone already asked you this, but why do you place 2 workbenches?
You dont need multiples - the only reason to keep lower tier workbenches is obviously to keep experimenting with them - or if u cant be bothered to destroy them - or if they block the tc etc

I cant figure out the stability bunker floor i break twig and the floor stays up gaining stability from the foundation next to it ? can someone tell me what im doing wrong
As long as there are no walls supporting the floor other than the twig, it will work. All the other foundations must be raised around it, other than the 2 used for the bunker.
yeah I have figured out it is being supported by the airlock floor and if you replaced that with a foundation it would then work but you would lose the shotgun traps there. Upgrading that foundation and putting two either side to hide that its armoured is what I might try next wipe, cheers xRaW.

Not sure those raid costs are quite right. You say 1371 to tc, but 3xsheetdoor are 3x63=189, 3x garage are 3x150=450 = 639, and i assume with the bunker, 1 sheet floor = 399, so +639=1038? What did I miss?
At the time of the video you couldn’t loot the TC without destroying the tier 3 workbench so the cost to destroy that is included :)

If i upgrade to armored the tc s walls, maybe the amount increse? I m still using your duo trio bunker base but with some Little difference like armored wall around the tc. Cause the splash damage when the raiders arrived down with Rocket can easily destroy the tc wall, It sonly 7 hq a day to have the tc armored

Should do - always best to try and build on a sandbox server first to test it all. At the time of uploading and even up to a month ago when I last used this bunker type it was working
This is a great base
However a lot of the chests are exposed so raiders do not have to clear the garage door. Am i missing something or is that how it is?
Yeah most of the chests aren’t lootsble through boxes and you would place most of your good loot in those - the rest would be shit loot
Would code locks work? The loot might drop inside the garage door

I spent a stupid amount of time trying to line up these boxes to not stick though the garage door, only to realize its impossible. Whats the point of the garage door on the right side of the loot room? and the one beside the research table? I just started Rust so I'm lost on the benefit.
The garage door increases the raid cost of the base :D if you place the garage doors before u place items it shoul work

You have to place the doors first, then open them and then u can place items where they would clip
