      Evil Wurst one question: Are armoured doors as efficient as Glass windows? Because when I’m on a big trip I’m like 30-40 mins away! I got raided twice during those trips. One time I defended solo against 3 People who blew through my roof access twice in a matter of 15 mins. The other time I don’t reminder.. MY POINT: I wouldn’t close the TC for that amount of time where I can be raided so I’m looking for alternatives

      @@kek207 One option would be to completely seal the TC inside a dropbox room. I find it a working solution as long as you make sure its hqm on all sides. Yes, the kill->spawn inside method is pretty annoying on solo, but you only put the most valuable stuff in there anyways. 15 rockets for TC control is alot of gp to waste so most people wont bother trying it. You can fit Tc and plenty of boxes with sleeping bag in one square room.

    This is an awesome build. I prefer the Aggravator though even though the Aggravator is only 12 rockets into each main loot room from the side, cause the separation of the loot rooms makes the total raid cost ridiculously high, and raiders usually try to door raid instead of drilling through walls, failing to take advantage of the Aggravator's weakness and playing right into its strength. Even when they raid into the honeycomb auxiliary rooms they see the door up above and choose to start door-raiding from that point, once again playing right into the Aggravator's strength instead of its weakness.

    Loving this design and that it evolves from a starter! Super compact and low cost too! I have been playing on 2x mainly these days and we end up with soo much loot that this wouldn't be viable but I really love it. It could work as a solo modded base. (Really digging the double window TC design too)
    We tend to build the frustrator V2 and have great success with it, but I would be interested in seeing another similar design with a focus on a modded server for a trio. (ie the build can be a bit more expensive and have more storage etc.
    Again the frustrator v2 is fantastic, and thanks for making all the great content.
    Bunkers are neat but for us we tend not just skip them for all the hassle, and typically with two layers of sheet + honeycomb, compound and armored doors we do ok

    Very nice! I especially like how this one has both a starter and intermediate unit, the electricity guide is thorough, and the vending machine is a nice touch for the core.
    Good luck with the move! Food for thought when you return: the false airlock.
    I don't know how practical it really is, or if it's been patched, but in a few ill-conceived cobbled-together starter units I've adapted to base builds that are 'one-shot' builds, I've noticed that certain door configurations will kick you out of your base's walls. This seems to work best with double doors that open in a way that can push you against (and in some positions, through) a wall, but I haven't really tested it that well. Wooden doors may be better due to faster speed, but it worked with metal double doors as well. Could work with single doors, if different angles are used; not sure.
    I bet if utilized in a certain way, that concept could allow you to pay a little more build cost for significantly more raid cost; more or less, the ability to operate a door will kick you through a wall, with 1 door per direction you need to travel through that wall in. For raiders, that's not an option without a code leak, so it's as if your base is all (or a significantly higher percentage of) walls.
    It's a rough idea as it stands, but removing the weakness of a door at strategic points in your base could be worth the extra build cost / trial and error, if they didn't patch it from the last time I was seeing this alot ( probably 3 months ago or so). It's one of those things that comes up so infrequently, I doubt it'll be patched until people find a way to abuse it. Maybe a worthwhile exploit to explore if you're looking for ideas when you get back into it.

    • @EvilWurst
      @EvilWurst  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you!
      If doors push you through walls, it usually happens because anti hack is disabled. Build servers do this to gain performance. On regular servers, this usually does not work

    • @smrtpig
      @smrtpig 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EvilWurst Ah, see that makes sense.
      I'd only ever seen it once on a vanilla server now that I think about it; every repeatable incident had been a build server.

  • @benjaminmason9424
    @benjaminmason9424 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The first couple times I watched this video I actually missed the best feature of the base and I was confused by how bad the base seemed at first glance. The main loot is protected by two sheet metal walls + a stone wall from any angle, affording a level of protection for main loot that is generally only possible for TC alone in bases of this size. It's an easy detail to miss if you're not paying close attention the first time you watch the video.
    Personally I never park helicopters on my base because of the number of raids they provoke. Large clans will often spend a fair amount of sulfur to raid you literally just to obtain the helicopter, at which point they will just full raid you since they happen to be there with explosives anyway. So I always make a small hangar separate from my base.
    I feel like the three cardinal sins of raid bait are:
    1) Having a high-wall compound
    2) Parking a helicopter on/in the base where it's visible
    3) Building larger than a 3x3

    • @EvilWurst
      @EvilWurst  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually very much agree with your list.
      I have observed 1) and 3) myself. Hence I included the external auto turrets to form an "ad-hoc" safe area if necessary.
      Point 2) seems quite obvious. When they were introduced I was playing as a larger group, and we would indeed not hesitate to sacrifice a bit of resources to obtain a minicopter

    Thx 4 the video! I'm gonna try it soon on a build server and then consider using this as my main base.
    Small addition: ALWAYS use an electrical branch, timer and a XOR Switch as a circuit to turn off the auto turrets. It's much more fail-safe if you shut down all the turrets at once for like 20 seconds (with this base design u probably just need 5 - 10 seconds, which may be faster than running back to the switch and turn it on again) than using regular switches and maybe forget to turn them back on / your game crashes / your internet connection dies or if you die in a raid.

    There is a slight problem with this design, if you log off and forget to remove the minicopter before it will destroy the 2 top boxes of the upstairs lootroom. You seriously have the most unique designs. I love that. I hate electricity though since if someone shot a rocket at your solar panels adios turrets....Especially on a 5x server that im always on it wouldn't take much to take them out. Suggestions to keep them safe yet still gather energy?

    • @EvilWurst
      @EvilWurst  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. First of all, I doubt this base is a good 5x base. To be frank, no base is a good 5x base. Since the cost of bases grows exponentially with its size & durability, it's even harder to make "unraidable" bases on 5x.
      About the electricity, the large battery should help for a few hours. Other than that, it might be possible to slap down an emergency generator in the core and connect it to the turrets if everything else fails

  • @MatthewHerbst
    @MatthewHerbst 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice updates! One thing I would recommend would be to surround the large battery and its electrical components with one or more sets of garage doors, and move the root combiners in there as well. Wires aren't destroyed when walls they are on come down, so if you protect your electronics it's very possible for your turrets to stay active even with raiders deep inside your base.
    Also, have you tested that if the heli in the garage blows up, no fire reaches the bed/battery/etc on the floor below? I've often woken up to items near my garages missing because the fire goes through walls (especially stone walls) sometimes.

    What I've found out is that small groups(4~6) tend to ignore my team(mostly I play as duo) when they see it's a base design of yours. Even when you engage them and "cause trouble" they tend to give up if the loss wasn't so bad for them. Also, sometimes, the base isn't even completely finished but the crucial parts are already up and this will deter them from raiding you to the ground.

      You could in theory upgrade the outer layer one more tier. That would help against brute force raids through the walls.
      But usually, I design my bases so that the raid cost is the same regardless of the angle. That means, if you strengthen one part (e.g. the walls), another part (e.g. the doors) becomes a weakness

    • @EvilWurst
      @EvilWurst  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, don’t build them into your main base. The cost of the base grows exponentially with its size. Better, build a dedicated furnace base and a dedicated oil refinery base. This has the added advantage that you claim a larger area and prevent others or raiders from building there

    • @EvilWurst
      @EvilWurst  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure how that would save power. If a switch is off, the power running to it is not saved, is it?

    • @joelboyd9150
      @joelboyd9150 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EvilWurst honestly... i don't know. never been big on electricity although it would be similar to the concept in the video, having the switches to turn the turrets on and off. their would be door controllers and turret connected to a single switch so when that switch is triggered the door and turret turn on and when the switch is off the doors close and the turret turns off. ill see if i can get it to work and let you know what i find

    • @joelboyd9150
      @joelboyd9150 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EvilWurst ok so after a little bit of testing i figured out what i was trying to say. have power running into the switch and then from the switch into a splitter, then the 3 outputs from the splitter go to 2 garage doors and 1 auto turret, once the switch is flicked it accepts power from the battery and powers on the turret as well as opening the 2 doors. so answering your question before, when the switch is turned off it doesn't require any power therefor saving power and letting the battery keep stacking up more power
      EDIT: all of this only works if it is directly connected to the battery

    • @tabushka292
      @tabushka292 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use door controllers and an HBHF sensor to open the doors when someone triggers the sensor. If you do this, I'd advise you to put a turret behind a single double door instead of 2 garage doors (double doors open way faster) and have your turrets powered all the time. The HBHF sensor should only open the door and the turrets need to already be ready to fire because otherwise they take a couple of seconds to start up.
      If you're worried about people destroying the HBHF sensor, there is an exploit where you put the sensor behind a roof piece. The sensor will still detect people through the roof (but not walls). This could be useful for example if your entrance is elevated and you access it by placing a roof in front of it. You can just have your sensor behind the roof and nobody would see it.

    • @mrED123
      @mrED123 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tabushka292 okay thx for the comment I get what you mean, but let's say I built a base in rust like this base and the turrets are elevated and they are on the corners of the base, would I put the sensor on the roof peice in the turret holder thing or where would I put the roof?

    • @tabushka292
      @tabushka292 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrED123 Well if you want to do it with the roof, then the idea is pretty much this:
      i.imgur.com/mFkakDk.jpg
      you place the roof and have the turret nearby
      i.imgur.com/oIumrdB.jpg
      The HBHF sensor is placed under the roof like this. Place it as close to the roof as possible or else it might not work. Also it's a good idea to have access into this little room in case you need to rewire your circuit.
      But in the case of this base, one way to set up the turrets could be like this (I didn't place the roof above the turrets so they can be easily seen and the spot lights are just there to get rid of the shadows):
      i.imgur.com/dshncYX.jpg
      Now I never tested this on a live server, so I can't guarantee that this will most certainly work, but I tried to set up the turrets so that they cover each other's blind spots. There are still blind spots, but they are difficult to reach. Also the very top of the roof is not covered by the turrets. There is 20 unused power left on this circuit so you could use that to place one more turret somewhere.

    Evil, I dunno if anyone has already asked, but the vending machine never seemed to want to place in the core. I don't know why, cause everything's identical to the video. Could be part of the many updates that are making these designs more different to replicate in modern day Rust. If you can't think of any issues, are there perhaps any workarounds or something I can place there instead?
