    I owned one of these for many years back in the early 80s. Same as this one, except dark green, then later black. 428 Police Interceptor in the GT 500 vs 428 Cobra Jet in the later GT 500KR. Think i paid $3200 for it...

    I absolutely LOVE the '67 and '68 Shelbys. I'd give my right . . . NO, my LEFT nut for one! Here's one for ya - back in '74 when I got my license all the muscle cars were just "used cars" My buddy had a 440 6-pack Superbee, he paid a whopping $1800. I had a Boss 302 ($500 bucks! NO BS) and a '69 XL 500 429 convertible I paid $1200 for! Another guy had an $800 Judge - you name it, we had 'em all back then, and they were still in good shape!

    Ya know the problem with me is I love Pontiac Ram air Firebird but the my love gets distracted by these late 60s Stang's both exterior and interior look...that cabin full of sophisticated gauges all around with written Shelby everywhere with craftsmanship makes me 🤤🤤🤤...secondly which I can't do with my dream ram Firebird is to drop a 572 Ford N/A heart in it..I loved the 67's Shelby front but mad in loved with 68's Shelby rear heavily chrome decorated taillights! • @melodigrand
      @melodigrand 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      True of the 67 GT 500, thought Shelby bolted a set of dual quads on what was basically a t-bird motor. The CJ was not offered by Ford until 68, and 68 GT 500s had the CJ with a single quad. The 68 was quicker.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for asking my opinion. If the car is in original condition, I would put the original color top on to keep it original. If you've modified the car, then I would put the top color on you prefer the most, Lou

    • @davidcheck5530
      @davidcheck5530 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is original, except it needs a new hood, which I may be able to repair, but it's fiberglass, so maybe not. I changed out the shifter, since the original one cracked, but I am looking for an original shifter as well. I want the top to be the original color, but I am having trouble finding one. I found some slick looking black ones though

    Why would you start on a dirt road? Trying for the hillbilly audience?

    Love the sound of that big block. It's hard not to step on that pedal and watch it Get It huh? 🐍

      Hi Roger Brobst, Agreed, the big block sounds great. It's always fun to step on it, however when someone is generous enough to allow you try their car, I tend to be respectful & cautious because I don't want to break something. Also ensures the friendship stays intact, and allows you to get the chance to try the car again in the future :-) Lou
