- It’s been a few weeks since we posted the first video of our Traxxas Ultimate Hoss build. When new parts arrive for other projects in the works, Greg tends to shift focus on the shiny new objects. But he’s back on track and this time he’s swapping out some driveline parts in the Hoss Build. In this video, he swaps out the ring and pinion gears, driveshafts and a few other parts. My problem is I’m a project clinger lol I can’t move on until one build is 100% complete
I have those diff gears in my stampede 4x4 and I’ve been very impressed with them. On the rear diff the bearing that supports the pinion gear for the diff came apart and caused the gears to skip and made a loud clicking sound. I took out the gears to replace the bearing and they had were still perfect and had no damage.
I was wondering about that build, looking pretty stout that hoss is! FASTEST NAME IN RADIO CONTROL, and Greg makes em' SHARPEST NAME IN RADIO CONTROL! Traxxas knocks it out of the park with the easy replacement parts, a breeze to work on.

Working on these things gets really addictive. My rustler 4x4 was breaking me up. Other than motor/esc combo there are only a couple stock parts on it. So I went and got an XMAXX since they are the toughest out there Traxxas wise. Dont think Ill be doing as much work to it. Spent $700 and it didn't go very far what so ever. I think I spend 10:1 working on them vs driving them. I need to start doing it for other people and quit spending my cash lol
Mate your doing a great job keeping your channel very interesting even with small breaks and multiple projects on the go at once.

Damn. This thing has as much money as a brand new Xmaxx most likely, which is crazy! Same thing with my V2 Maxx. And my X-Maxx is still more durable and fun! 🤣👍

Would you recommend going with the aluminum caster block over the Traxxas HD kit? We have a new Hoss and broke the driveshafts on day 1 so we ordered and installed the NEW steel spline driveshafts both front and rear. However we broke the caster block on the front today and not sure if to go with the aluminum or to order the parts from the HD kit (however it seems you cannot fit those parts individually and you need the whole kit, which seems like a waste of money since we already have the $160 already invested in the steel spline driveshafts. Thoughts?
I bent my shock tower on hoss 4x4 vxl. I'm looking around but there is none specific to the hoss. but they say they fit slash, stampede and a lot of others. will they work on my hoss?

What oil weight u put in all of them
Sick build! Mines very similar, but I don’t use Traxxas arms and I swap the center diff for a slipper clutch with a hot racing 18/58 metal spur and pinion. Those spiral cut ring and pinions are buttery smooth.
A heads up on those drive staff they are nothing more than potted metal I've broken two sets and I had better luck with the plastic ones for that price they charge for them it seems like they would make them out of something stronger when mine snapped I looked at the center and there's holes all through the metal and it's that potted metal wasn't very impressed but nice build!
You should have rit dyed the chassis either blue or black...that dirty grey kinda throws off how nice those new parts are

I’ve seen conflicting opinions on the spiral cut diff gears vs normal ones. I watch a video where someone went it great detail to explain how the spiral cut gears only offered an 8% bigger contact area for the teeth and that it’s not worth the money spent.
Also doesn’t it already have an aluminum motor plate? What’s the difference between the stock one and the new one.
The new motor plate is thicker and machined instead of stamped

Pimpingout a Hoss is like putting a silk hat on a pig. I can't believe people buy this truck and not a Maxx at such a small price diffence.
