Thants funny, I have hundreds of LPs from the 50's, 60,s and 70s that all play fine in paper sleeves. I agree that upgrade sleeves are better but I only use them for LPs that I really care about and or play often. Anti statics sleeves are very cheap, most being $.04 each US. I would recommend that you do not put your records in the original sleeves with art work because that adds wear to them as you access the LP and increases the risk of blowing out the edges. Just keep them separate. Plastic sleeves are replaceable, the original inner is for the most part not.
Paper sleeves, possibly depending on how they're made or something - I don't know - can deteriorate over time. A couple years ago I opened an LP from 1975 that had paper particles all over it.
MoFi sleeves are only like $20 for 50 sleeves, but I prefer Diskeeper Ultimate inner sleeves, which cost aprox the same, but I use both. I keep my records behind the cover or in between a gatefold in a Sleeve City outer sleeve to avoid ring wear. Been doing it for many years. I can of course understand how people may wanna put em in a rounded inner sleeve to fit back into the original cover, especially if there’s graphics, lyrics, etc. on it. Cool vid as usual. Thanks!
I totally agree with you and yes static will eventually build up on your record. I was lucky to buy a brand new sealed 50 Nagaoka Innersleves for $2.00. It was at a thrift store and I guess they thought it was an album. Sometimes I find sealed calendars and 12" videodiscs, as well.
I use Mo-Fis for my black vinyl and the crystal clear Vinyl Storage Solutions inners for my coloured/clear records. And my most cherished records go in VSS double-pocket dual-flap 2 or 4 mil outer sleeves, I also keep my records behind the record sleeve to prevent ringwear. Which the double-pocket VSS outer sleeves are designed for. I wouldn't swap 'em for anything else.
I like the Mofi, but the Sleeve City Ultimate Inner is much better. It's padded on both sides. The cost is higher but worth it and I store my LP's between the jacket and the outer sleeve to prevent ringwear
I found a local to me here in Canada called Vinyl Storage Solutions and they have pretty much the exact same ones at $7 for a 25 pack. They also have a bulk order of these for $110 for 500. These guys also sell every variety of outer sleeves you can imagine as well. Definitely check them out.
You can put the standard "flat bottom" antistatic sleeve inside your pictured and information sleeve! It will be a little more difficult, but you only have to put them in once!
I still have loads of new Diskeeper and MoFi master sleeves, because I bought them in bulk. I'll stick with those until I'm through all of them. From my experience, the Diskeeper 2.0 antistatic sleeves are just as good as the MoFi original master sleeves, but half the price. Thanks for the tip though 👍
I have been getting the Invest In Vinyl 100 pack, for $25 you get 50 rice paper inner sleeves (square, I don’t like the rounded bottom) and 50 3mm outer sleeves (the nice outers, not the shitty ones) I would recommend. Easy to find on Amazon
I have found the best defense to static electricity is a zerostat gun. As soon as you clean a record the friction creates static, even if you use a carbon brush, you need a good drain to ground such as using a wrist strap. But how practical is that?
Awesome! This is what I wanted to know! I want to keep my records inside the original inner sleeve but the original inner sleeve usually has a lot of static, so I was wondering if I could put my record inside an inner sleeve and then keep it inside the original inner sleeve and .... well, thank you!
And I agree about paper sleeves. If the album came in a paper sleeve it’s immediately a bad sign. Imo budget pressing. Most likely American pressing or UK etc. lots of cheapo paper sleeves. Most ever single album I have that came with paper sleeve had some sort of minor damage from it when it was NEW and just opened. I makes me cringe to see paper sleeves being used. If you don’t care much for dead silence in your vinyl... sure who cares I suppose. If I ever ship an album, I would never ship in a paper sleeve. And makes me sick when sellers use them. But the original printed inner sleeves are super cool, and I agree it’s part of the value and experience but I preserve them and do not use them, I store them inside the cover. And use the vinyl in a MA records fabric type sleeve outside the cover. Making sure no seam splits are ever to happen. OCD :)
Thanks for the video, I'm contemplating my next purchase of inners and had actually forgotten about using Nagaoka (style) inside original paper inners. A large portion of my Lps are Japanese pressings so I've removed the Nagaoka inners and used them inside paper sleeves just as you've described. Regarding the MoFi (style) sleeves I disagree with your arguments against them- I've never had a problem storing them inside the cover next to the original paper inner, 'extra thickness' is not an actual problem. I'd say the cover actually benefits from the extra stiffness provided by the additional MoFi inner. I'd like to mention (2) disadvantages with using Nagaokas inside original paper sleeves: #1: 'Wear and tear' toencouraging #2: Nagaoka brand actually NOT practical in North America simply due to lack of supply- they end up costing MORE than MoFi sleeves, so cost argument is not valid (your Amazon link currently shows lowest price $36/50 sleeves with shipping- same price as 100 MoFi sleeves with discount from Music Direct!!). So I would disagree they are 'unquestionably' the best- they are great but have some trade-offs like all sleeve options..
The problem is that the MoFi don't fit inside the original sleeve, not the album. Of course they fit inside the album. Cost is not connected to efficiency, especially considering that as you have underlined it is very fluctuate. I am not defending Nagaoka but the concept, which is indeed the best to take care of your record and at the same time preserve the original layout. If you don't care storing the record out of its original innersleeve then MoFi is an excellent choice. In any case a lot of people pointed out that in the US you have a valid alternative made from invest in vinyl, which appear to be the same as Nagaoka and 10$ less than the MoFi.
@@anadialog Sure, but unlike you many people are not concerned with 'using' an original inner sleeve, and would prefer to preserve them. Many people prefer to remove the vinyl without pulling the whole inner sleeve out. Your arguments against adding a MoFi-style sleeve are silly. MoFi style sleeves can be found for $25/100 on Amazon (Square Deal makes them) for those of us in North America. The 'extra space they take up' inside the cover is literally the thickness of a piece of rice paper lol..
I have been using the MoFi sleeves and they are nice. You hit it right on the button. No problem with just plain paper sleeves, just toss them. But what to do with sleeves with printing? I have been doing exactly what you showed. Now I am going to change to this system, thanks for the idea. BTW, I believe it is pronounced Na-gow-ka.
@@anadialog 4 syllables Naw-ga-oye-ka or Naw-ga-oak-a, it is a city in Japan, I had to look it up myself a year of so ago. :) I have heard Naw-gow-ka and Naw-goy-ka by other websites, but it is a Japanese word with the accent on the "ga"
All Japanese albums... Or well over 95% of them have that round bottom anti stat type sleeve since the 70’s or so. So nice for a stock sleeve and love Japanese records for these reasons... just another bonus. But I’m still using MA recordings Japanese fabric type sleeves. Super super soft and albums slide in and out like nothing else. And they are anti fungal , but truly most expensive sleeve. Mofi is ok, but records don’t slide easily in and out, and would choose Kirmuss over mofi if I had to choose that style. The MA records sleeve is so smooth you can slide the vinyl in one handed. The tops are offset 4-5mm so you can slide the vinyl in with zero effort and 100% confident no scratches, no static charging, no fungal issue as it actually breathes unlike all other sleeves are mediocre at best.
In my experience, rounded inner sleeves are too wide to fit into the original paper sleeves like demonstrated here, and thereby defeating the purpose. But perhaps the Nagaoka sleeves are a better fit than the ones I got?
I use the same sleeves and i must say i love them because they can fit in the original record sleeve. I was never able to put to test the anti-static effect but when i get my records out they have no static in so i guess it works well. I buy them from French website specialized in record player and Hi-Fi gear for 29€ Speaking of static have you ever tried or put you hands on the Furutech ASB-1 anti-static brush ? keep up the good work!
Paper sleeve scratch your lp record n leave dust on it I like that plastic that don't scratch your record n don't collect dust I use the one you are showing is the best inner sleeve to me n protect your record the paper sleeve if it get wet it will get stuck to your vinyl record love the round sleeve keep my record from scratch n dust n keep my vinyl clean from dust 👍😎
Thanks for sharing your views, love this channel BTW!....suggestion maybe? I saw a video (cannot remember who's channel) but he was promoting an inner sleeve that had a flap on top of the opening to cover the LP. This looked like the best option for protection. Any idea who makes this inner sleeve? Any others? thanks in advance!!
No big problem Neil. Nagaoka is just a more clever and effective solution. Why? Multiply your MoFi sleeves for all your record collection. If you have thousands like me, that is going to be a LOT of extra space eaten up from the thickness of the MoFi sleeves. Moreover, adding a MoFi sleeve, in some cases, occupies too much space inside the cover, deforming it. Plus, as I have explained I like to pull out my record from the original sleeve. If I use the MoFi I am rarely going to see the original because most times I am going to leave it inside. Nagaoka makes you use the record as it was intended without adding extra space.
ANA[DIA]LOG I totally understand your situation. I have been an audiophile for over 53 years now when my only source of quality audio was records. I prefer to use the term vinyl but I now hear that that's a NoNo. It took me 17 years after the introduction of the CD player to actually find a musical sounding player so over time I have stopped buying vinyl and have purchased thousands of CDs and I only have about 800 vinyl recordings that sound worthy to my ears. Been using Mofy sleeves for so many years that the space situation that you're referring to is not mine. That's why my reply was to put them side-by-side in the record jacket. Didn't really seem to take up hardly any additional room. Thanks for your kind reply.
They cost slightly more $32,99 ( keepa.com/#!product/1-B009AOLH8G ). Amazon goes up and down. I do see that they are not that much distributed in the US. In Europe everyone uses Nagaoka. That is why I did this video so late, because here it is just obvious. They are very well made. You can say anything but that they are not high quality. They inveted the quality inner sleeve in the late 70's. MoFi does not fit in the original record jacket and they take up extra space. They are just not practical IMO.
There's no problem, his arguments against using MoFi sleeves are pretty silly, especially the claim that they take up a 'LOT' of 'extra space'. That is not even an issue as you would know as a MoFi user lol.
I want a MoFi-style inner sleeve, but MoFis are too wide- they stick out of a lot of record jackets. So the question remains what the best is. I know that Hudson HiFi is better, and good enough for me now. My guess is that there is more body to this kind of sleeve vs the Nagaoka. There's a valid point to this vid if your original inner sleeve is useful or present in what you are picking up. But for a lot of LPs- especially vintage - that's not the case.
The best record sleeve I have run across and have a few is the E-Stat black sleeve with tapered cut corners that go inside the cover better that rounded ones that can bunch up at times and develop wrinkles. I don't know if these are made anymore however.
Hi it’s Graham from the U.K. love the video and advice. I’ve started using either spin care inner sleeves or MoFi However….Some records come new in good quality card sleeves with a smooth inner. Metallica and Iron maiden 180g discs. I’ve kept the records in them for a number of years and they seem fine. I’m unsure on whether to put them into the MoFi or Spincare inner sleeves. What would you advice?
I recently got into collecting but the ones I get are from amazon from Invest in Vinyl, they have the same shape as the nagaokas but they're about half the price
Back in the day, at least from the early 1970's onwards, almost every Australian LP came in an inner bag which was that shape, although I don't think it was the same as the record companies usually used cheap plastic. Now almost all records are imported so we get those crappy paper sleeves.
+1 for Nagaoka, been using them for years, it pains me when I buy a new expensive record and it's in one of those crappy paper sleeves stuck like glue because of the static.
So the answer to protecting your vinyl is to use laserdisc sleeves. This is not new to me. in fact it's very old and goes back to the 1980's. I use to get hundreds these from the Pioneer LD distributor for free though the cable company and still have many for my vinyl. They where used for the cable and satellite PPV laserdisc rentals in the 90's and early 2000's. Some store bought LD's had them. Someone is making a fortune re-purposing use of these surplus leftover sleeves.I have all my vinyl collection in these and yes they fit in the original album sleeve. There are 2 other types with plastic and paper are used. I used to use some of them for dog poop bags since they where thin and handy. Enjoy paying lots of $$ for poop bags.
Thanks for sharing your perspective, but I have doubts your covers and inner-sleeves are going to be in very good shape if you keep taking it in and out like you did at 5:50. I normally keep the lyric sheets inside the cover and my Mofi's tucked behind the cover inside the plastic sleeve, removing the problem entirely.
Indeed, a lot of people do that but I don't work for a museum. I want to enjoy my records and use them as you are supposed to, which is also why I don't use plastic covers on the outside. I want to feel, touch and smell the paper and the different parts of a record. What is the point to preserve them to that extent? So others when I am dead will use them instead of me when I was alive? Not my choice but I understand collectors, I just can't do that, which is also why I think the Nagaoka are the best because I have maximum protection and at the same time I can use the record in all its parts.
@@anadialog you don’t even use plastic outer sleeves? Wow. That’s like one of the most fundamental ways to preserve your records over time. Well you do you man, I think the nagaoka sleeves work well in your case but the whole passing the vinyl to your kids thing you mentioned won’t hold up very well. Moreover I think these “unquestionably” being the greatest inner sleeve is a stretch when there are obvious downsides to it and you yourself acknowledged that collectors may see it a different way. At the end of the day this seems more subjective than definitive.
This is so great helpfull video, But I have question... I just bought new unique limited edition vinyls and when I took out my new vinyls very carefully out its paper inner sleeves what was unlined and very thight make vinyls misted and maybe scratched also and now both vinyls have big white damage. Fortunately these vinyls working after that and sound quaility is same, but what I can do... can I clean or repair those damages? btw I must bought those amazing Nagaoka No102 Antistatic Record Sleeves! Fortunately by chance our local stores sells those Record Sleeves!
I make the graphics 😎 You can find them here: teespring.com/ana-dia-log-tape-reels?tsmac=store&tsmic=anadialog-gear&pid=389&cid=100020 Obviously there are various colors and sizes. The entire store is here: teespring.com/stores/anadialog-gear
what would you recommend for 1950's 78 rpm inner sleeves [to be inserted in the original MGM 10'' sleeves 1955-1959.I suppose 78 reaction to inner sleeves differ than vinyl?
It doesn't matter if the corners of this inner sleeve are round, If you keep your records in the original paper inner sleeve it is eventually going to tear. In Addition that paper sleeve is going to attract dust and moisture. If there is a paper inner sleeve with writing on it that I want to keep I store it in the jacket.
Ok question. When you get an old vinyl and it comes with a beat up blank paper inner sleeve and you swap out with a MOFI, do you still keep the original sleeve with the album? Or do you toss it? I debate this as it's useless and takes up space in the cover, but I also feel like it's part of the original "package".
Zero Percent of my records came in those paper sleeves that you showed. Seriously, I've never even seen one and I have hundreds of records from 60s-70s-80s-90s and 2000s... Virtually all of my LPs came in paper sleeves lined with (what I assume is) PE. I've been upgrading them all to rice-paper enforced Spincare HDPE sleeves, but that's just because of my buy-wash-listen cycle, if it wasn't for that one could easily keep the originals and be totally fine with them. Actually I've kept most of the original sleeves and whenever I sell the records they all go back to their paper-PE sleeve.
Hmm I have those rounded sleeves. I did not thought about putting them into the original sleeve! Good idea. But maybe I use them when there is no sleeve or it is destroyed somehow when found something second hand.
Hi! Thanks for all these interesting videos. I personally prefer the Mofi's, but PLEASE, put those beautiful records BEHIND THE COVER, in the outersleeve in order to prevent ringwear! Just sayin'...😉 All the best from France. B.
As long as you are using outer sleeves and stack your Lps upright you will not have a problem with ringwear lol...It's ridiculous to suggest storing Lps outside/behind the album covers to prevent ringwear...
I know it’s the hip thing these days, but I won’t ever put my records behind the jacket for the simple reason that most gatefold jackets are not that flat and you risk warpsge like that. Just my .02
I like this idea for sure but here in the US you can buy MOFI Inner and Outer sleeve combo 50 pack for $39.00 where as this NAGAOKA Plastic Inner Sleeve Record ANTI-STATIC 12" 50 pieces Made in Japan I could only find for $43.69 + $11.59 = 55.28 not sure how you can say it is cheaper? But the idea of saving the inner paper sleeve with information on it is cool. I just usually insert back in and keep it like you say.
The price went up after the video was published because everyone bought them. Here you can see that the standard price is usually 32.99$: keepa.com/#!product/1-B009AOLH8G
Hi I noted you said anti static on the sleeve can still build up eventually, what is your advice on the next step for example the anti static gun or something else?
Hi Jon! I don't know how you clean them but I think there is no problem if you keep the brush parallel to the record surface. I've never heard of smaller brushes but you never know...
Have to be careful of composition. May ruin records in the long run. It’s just better to get quality sleeves. Will last forever and protect correctly your records.
@@anadialog I see, I just ordered them as they're only 15 EUR, the best second option is 35 EUR and I only have 8 vinyls so far.. just starting out and wanted to change the inner sleeves as I heard they're bad. I'll see if they work if not I'll return them, thanks!
I don't have any problem with them. It's just a matter of convenience. They don't fit in all the original sleeves, your talking about the covers perhaps. Plus they curl in the bottom because they are square and they are very think. If you multiply that for thousands of records like me that is a hell of waisted space.
Great video! I’m just a little bit confused on whether the Nagaoka 102 are the same (and as good) as the newer ones from Nagaoka. You were saying that you measured them and they’re identical, but at the end of the video you’re saying the best ones are the Nagaoka 102 specifically. So are they any different or not ? :)
I love your channel and I'm always aware of what you offer us. It seems to me that the main idea of the video (beyond if you use this or that brand of inner sleeves) is to put on the table that the terrible paper covers that come from the factory destroy your LP's. Pure it. There are many people who claim to be a serious collector and lovers of this specific format but at the end of the day they have their collection ruined and dirty for not investing in the care and preservation of their records.
Nagaoka 102 $58.00 including shipping for 50. Invest in Vinyl round bottom anti-static sleeves 50 for $12.98 Both on Amazon. I'll take the Invest in Vinyl thank you. I am certain you would not be able to tell the difference.
That is not the real price! As I said in the video it's usually 27-30$. They probably finished them on Amazon. They will be back in stock in a while. Invest in vinyl in Italy is much more expensive, almoat 40€!!. I hope they are good. After trying 4 times with other brands I gave up!
@@anadialog That IS the real price amazon.com/dp/B07CYKRVRW/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_0xEcFbHG63Z6C As for Muraoka, even the price you quoted is twice the cost. Not a good idea to call someone a liar unless you can back it up.
@@AriKona I don't recognize you! I thought you knew me. I did not call you a liar I just claimed my point. If you think about it, actually it was YOU that defined me a liar in the first place with you comment. In your first comment you stated a different price after that in the video I said around 27-30$ for the Nagaoka. Again 58$ is not the price of the Nagaoka inner sleeves on Amazon. You want proof? Here it is. On Keepa you can see the price of the last months of the Nagaoka 102 on Amazon.com ( keepa.com/#!product/1-B009AOLH8G ). When I posted the video (July 10th 2020) as you can see the price on Amazon.com was: 32.99$. Absolutely not 58$. I am sure that if you hunt other online shops you will find it at a cheaper price. Moreover, I said that the inner sleevs of "Invest in vinyl" are almost 40€ IN ITALY. Remember I am italian? and so it is. Check here: www.amazon.it/Sleeves-inserisci-Collection-corretto-Investire/dp/B07CYKRVRW/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_it_IT=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=invest+in+vinyl&qid=1594493906&sr=8-2 As you can see the price is 37.52€ (almost, as I said, 40€) which is about 42.36$ much much more than the Nagaoka 102 (in Italy). BACKED UP
@@anadialog In my first comment all I did was go to Amazon to verify the prices. I did not say that you were falsifying anything as I respect your right to say what you want. Since I have been down this same road and have spent way too much money on MoFi sleeves over the years, I was very happy to see Invest in Vinyl make the better sleeve (like Nagaoka) and at a more reasonable price. I certainly understand that Amazon (and other retailers) may have different prices at different time as well as where they are located (US vs EU). I guess when I see "Unquestionably the best record inner sleeve", I am hoping to find that to be true. The simple addition of IMO (something I often do) would make it more palatable. So, I apologize for saying you called me a liar as, in truth, you did not. I would suggest purchasing one order of Invest in Vinyl sleeves, take one of them and one of the Nagaoka, turn out the lights and see if you can tell the difference. I can't. And this could be why Invest in Vinyl is a best seller on Amazon. Keep on producing videos, they are useful, even if we don't always agree. ☮️
ANA[DIA]LOG thanks. I really liked your video on the speaker set up and vibration control. The speaker set was amazing and I don’t think I even got to 100%. vibration control is a complex topic since there are so many products and many distributors have told me to not bother. It will be great to connect 1x1. I’m not as much into vinyl but getting into it. I didn’t have an old collection and building a new vinyl collection is $$$$$$
You can fit MFSL sleeves inside lyric inners just fine, you dont need Nagaoka ones. And they are not the best inner sleeves for the same reasons MFSL ones are not. The best inners are plastic lines paper sleeves, like the Allman Brothers one, as the paper adds rigidity you can separate the sleeve from the record when inserting, creating 0 friction and wear. The RTI ones DEFINETLY scratch your records, any sleeve can as its the dirt inside the sleeve rubbing the record, and since the RTI ones are so tight and leechy they are terrible.
I don't know anyone who store their records in anything other than Vinyl Storage Solution Duel pocket sleeves - no ones a fan of ring wear, and it looks cheap.
I find the solution to put uour records externally unbearable. It looks ugly and you just need to keep them loose. I want to enjoy my records not preserving them for the next rich guy or crappy shop once I am dead
Why do you want to constantly have to touch your album cover at all.? Why not store your record outside the cover? I use a two pocket outer sleeve from( vinyl storage solutions ) out of Canada. Check them out. I will never use anything else again.
I know, a lot of people do that now. I could never do that. Its like with books, I need to touch, smell and live the record and its cover, especially when it's a gatefold.
Mofi for the win. Better quality than the Nagaoka and puttin the Nagaoka inside the printed Innersleeve will over the years be a bad idea and causing ringwear to the printed Innersleeve.
Paper sleeves ruin you records? Sure there are better options, better paper, anti-static, but how do they harm? What objective evidence is there? I have seen staining of wrinkles from the sleeve on old records stored for long periods, but this could be mold or chemicals leaching from the vinyl itself.
Or chemical leaching from the paper? Paper is abrasive and sheds particles which collect in the grooves, plus they attract mold if stored for long periods like you say.
PVC is very stable. That grainy paper! If you press it, it will scratch the surface of the record. It is rather logic, plus after some time the paper will leak acids or may shed particles in teh grooves. It is of very bad quality. This is a well-known problem. They are surely not using acid-free paper. Plus, don't forget the anti-static effect of the Nagaoka or similar inner sleeves.
@@anadialog Don't get me wrong, my precious audiophile recordings are in very good sleeves, but I have collected over 1000 records, and many have survived with the stock inner sleeves for over 50 years if you store them correctly away from temperature extremes and humidity. Also there is a proper way to remove a recording from a sleeve, and replace a disk back in a sleeve us old schoolers used for decades. Is common sense we used when there were no other sleeves other than the one you got with the record. Too lengthy to explain here, perhaps I will put up a video.
Have you tried the diskeeper version of this sleeve? (Or has anyone else?) wondering if its worth trying or if I should just pay the extra and get the Nagaoka. www.sleevecityusa.com/7-Inch-Diskeeper-45-Round-Bottom-Inner-Sleeve-50-p/37ncir.htm
Maybe they are worth a try (careful these are for 45s). I was suggesting more the type than the brand so go ahead! Just make sure they actually fit inside the original sleeve.
I bought these but other then putting them in an paper inner sleev they are quite useless. Putting this sleeve by itself in a outersleeve with the opening upwards does not work properlg because the material is too thin and will just ben over and expose the record.
Ive gotten back into vinyl after 30 years, thank you for all the new tips
Thanks!
You are so right Sleeve city Ultimate inner is by far the best .
Rightt at the end you say: "if you want quality you have to pay for it." When it comes to accessories like these, I totally agree.
01:33 - “We” shouldn’t have to. The LP’s should be standardised to have anti static/rice paper sleeves from the manufacturer.
Nagaoka are made with the same material used for protect film negatives. They're simply the best protection for vinyl
True!
That material is called glassine. Have hundreds of those sleeves with 35 mm negatives inside them.
HDPE
Diskeeper Ultimate inners are my favorite and they're about 45 cents US each.
best I have used, too. Padded on both sides. I use their 3 mil resealable outers or the 4 mil Clearbags resealable for outers
Wow!! Lucky guy!
Any specific flat bottom one that you found which fits inside the pictured sleeve best?
Hi there, thanks for the great info! I am going to pick up some of those sleeves for sure!
Cool! Give us some feedback!
Don’t like using the original inner sleeves because of eventual wear and damage. I rather insert separately. But I do like those sleeves!
Great advice! Many thanks. I'll use these for records with a cool record sleeve and use the Sleeve City Ultimate Inner of Mofi for all the rest.
Thank YOU
I still have loads of new Diskeeper and MoFi master sleeves, because I bought them in bulk.
I'll stick with those until I'm through all of them.
From my experience, the Diskeeper 2.0 antistatic sleeves are just as good as the MoFi original master sleeves, but half the price.
Thanks for the tip though 👍
I always love your videos and always learn something. Also love The Beatles in Mono box behind you. So cool. Ciao 👍
Hi, using spincare rounded inner sleeves and outer sleeves, really nice quality, UK.
I have specific sleeves I use but love your enthusiasm ✊
I have found the best defense to static electricity is a zerostat gun. As soon as you clean a record the friction creates static, even if you use a carbon brush, you need a good drain to ground such as using a wrist strap. But how practical is that?
Awesome! This is what I wanted to know! I want to keep my records inside the original inner sleeve but the original inner sleeve usually has a lot of static, so I was wondering if I could put my record inside an inner sleeve and then keep it inside the original inner sleeve and .... well, thank you!
You are very welcome!
OCD :)
Great video
I'd like to mention (2) disadvantages with using Nagaokas inside original paper sleeves:
#1: 'Wear and tear' toencouraging
#2: Nagaoka brand actually NOT practical in North America simply due to lack of supply- they end up costing MORE than MoFi sleeves, so cost argument is not valid (your Amazon link currently shows lowest price $36/50 sleeves with shipping- same price as 100 MoFi sleeves with discount from Music Direct!!).
The 'extra space they take up' inside the cover is literally the thickness of a piece of rice paper lol..
thanks for the info just bought a 25 pack of these sleeves off amazon for £15
Nice!
All of my new records have been horribly scratched and I have no idea why. I’ve narrowed it down to the big fudge inner sleeves.
Cool!
4 syllables Naw-ga-oye-ka or Naw-ga-oak-a, it is a city in Japan, I had to look it up myself a year of so ago. :)
I use the Taguchi inner rounded sleeves. Made in Japan. Looks like the Nagaoka.
My favourite sleeves are katta, you must try them!
Thanks for the tip!
In my experience, rounded inner sleeves are too wide to fit into the original paper sleeves like demonstrated here, and thereby defeating the purpose. But perhaps the Nagaoka sleeves are a better fit than the ones I got?
Yes, that is precisely the winning point of the Nagaoka. They fit, always!
I use the same sleeves and i must say i love them because they can fit in the original record sleeve.
I was never able to put to test the anti-static effect but when i get my records out they have no static in so i guess it works well.
I buy them from French website specialized in record player and Hi-Fi gear for 29€
Speaking of static have you ever tried or put you hands on the Furutech ASB-1 anti-static brush ?
keep up the good work!
Hello could you tell us the address of this French store ? Thanks merci Daniel de france

I use the MoFi sleeves and put the original paper sleeve in the album cover next to MoFi. What's the big problem with that?
Everyone has its own solutions ans habits! ;-)
If you don't care having the record outside the original sleeve then I would go MoFi
I recently got into collecting but the ones I get are from amazon from Invest in Vinyl, they have the same shape as the nagaokas but they're about half the price
If they fit in the original inner sleeve, congrats!
I use ricepaper sleeves for the albums that don't have any art inside, bottom rounds for ones with art sleeves
I buy mofi and Nagaoka but i think that is possible to find same quality for a lower price in other brand
Just ordered another 50
Back in the day, at least from the early 1970's onwards, almost every Australian LP came in an inner bag which was that shape, although I don't think it was the same as the record companies usually used cheap plastic. Now almost all records are imported so we get those crappy paper sleeves.
+1 for Nagaoka, been using them for years, it pains me when I buy a new expensive record and it's in one of those crappy paper sleeves stuck like glue because of the static.
round sided japanese innersleeves are best for vinyl and cd.
you can trust me.
Amazon has the Nagaoka antistatic sleeve 50 pack for $21.30.
Fantastic! They are always unavailable...too bad I live in Italy
Fortunately by chance our local

what would you recommend for 1950's 78 rpm inner sleeves [to be inserted in the original MGM 10'' sleeves 1955-1959.I suppose 78 reaction to inner sleeves differ than vinyl?
It doesn't matter if the corners of this inner sleeve are round, If you keep your records in the original paper inner sleeve it is eventually going to tear. In Addition that paper sleeve is going to attract dust and moisture. If there is a paper inner sleeve with writing on it that I want to keep I store it in the jacket.
Wow that was a dramatic intro..
Good work! 🤪
😂
Ok question. When you get an old vinyl and it comes with a beat up blank paper inner sleeve and you swap out with a MOFI, do you still keep the original sleeve with the album? Or do you toss it? I debate this as it's useless and takes up space in the cover, but I also feel like it's part of the original "package".
If it has artwork the answer IMO is yes! Otherwise, no problem, get a MoFi!
Yes… Katta innersleeves are nice too, but the Nagaoka 102 are still the best 👍
are they very different from the Tonar ones with the same shape?
Hi! Thanks for all these interesting videos.
I personally prefer the Mofi's, but PLEASE, put those beautiful records BEHIND THE COVER, in the outersleeve in order to prevent ringwear!
Just sayin'...😉
All the best from France.
B.
Not a chance! :-) I like my records inside and pull them out...for me its heaven!
🤣🤣🤣
As long as you are using outer sleeves and stack your Lps upright you will not have a problem with ringwear lol...It's ridiculous to suggest storing Lps outside/behind the album covers to prevent ringwear...
I know it’s the hip thing these days, but I won’t ever put my records behind the jacket for the simple reason that most gatefold jackets are not that flat and you risk warpsge like that. Just my .02
Actually you can easily insert the MoFi ones in most inner sleeves as well.
Maybe a few but not most and certainly not all. So from me it's a no no
I like this idea for sure but here in the US you can buy MOFI Inner and Outer sleeve combo 50 pack for $39.00 where as this NAGAOKA Plastic Inner Sleeve Record ANTI-STATIC 12" 50 pieces Made in Japan I could only find for $43.69 + $11.59 = 55.28 not sure how you can say it is cheaper? But the idea of saving the inner paper sleeve with information on it is cool. I just usually insert back in and keep it like you say.
The price went up after the video was published because everyone bought them. Here you can see that the standard price is usually 32.99$: keepa.com/#!product/1-B009AOLH8G
Hi I noted you said anti static on the sleeve can still build up eventually, what is your advice on the next step for example the anti static gun or something else?
Compared to normal plastic it is much less. Yes, I did a dedicated video on the topic: th-cam.com/video/5_DKkllTwys/w-d-xo.html
And what about outer sleeves,do you use some? Btw great, informative video as allways👍
THX! No, I hate to touch plastic. I need to touch the true record cover and don't want either that extra step of taking it out.
@@anadialog im guessing you are not a fan of keeping the shrink wrap either?
Exactly!
Try HumminGuru HDPE inner sleeves just same as Nagaoka
Guido, i was wondering how to clean 45's with my carbon fiber brush when the brush is so much bigger, or does someone make a 45 rpm size brush?
Hi Jon! I don't know how you clean them but I think there is no problem if you keep the brush parallel to the record surface. I've never heard of smaller brushes but you never know...
@@anadialog i could cut a regular brush in half but it would be my luck all the bristles would fall out.
Nagaoka seem to be discontinued? Have you found an alternative? Katta? Taguchi?
They are harder to find. I found an Italian company that makes them almost identical at a fraction of the price
I have shaped cheap inner sleeves from Aliexpress, do i have to upgrade those sleeves?
Have to be careful of composition. May ruin records in the long run. It’s just better to get quality sleeves. Will last forever and protect correctly your records.
What do you think of the anti-static crystal clear inner sleeves from Vinyl Storage Solutions?
That they are not round so they will not fit properly and/or easily in the original inner sleeve. That is one of the main features of Nagaoka.
How are the spincare inner sleeves compared to these? Are they fine for a beginner vinyl collector? They arent being used frequently yet.
Last time I tried they did not fit INSIDE the sleeves, and for me that is paramount
@@anadialog I see, I just ordered them as they're only 15 EUR, the best second option is 35 EUR and I only have 8 vinyls so far.. just starting out and wanted to change the inner sleeves as I heard they're bad. I'll see if they work if not I'll return them, thanks!
I use mofi sleeves inside al the inner sleeves of my records with any problem at all. I.don't understand you problem with.them.
I don't have any problem with them. It's just a matter of convenience. They don't fit in all the original sleeves, your talking about the covers perhaps. Plus they curl in the bottom because they are square and they are very think. If you multiply that for thousands of records like me that is a hell of waisted space.
Does anyone find that using the paper sleeves with Polly a poly inner, When pulling the record out the 3 mm lip of paper scratches the record?

Katta sleeves is the same😇
Mofi for the win. Better quality than the Nagaoka and puttin the Nagaoka inside the printed Innersleeve will over the years be a bad idea and causing ringwear to the printed Innersleeve.

great album😃
:-)
Nagaoka are HDPE or high density polyethylene, nothing magic there.
no thanks i will stick to mofi, although my nagaoka mp 500 cartridge is fantastic
He's melodramatic.
What a pity. The 102 sleeves are/were the best.
I bought these but other then putting them in an paper inner sleev they are quite useless.
Putting this sleeve by itself in a outersleeve with the opening upwards does not work properlg because the material is too thin and will just ben over and expose the record.
These are ment ONLY to be inserted in the original sleeve as their round shape clearly states.
My deerskin sheaves with
genuine silk lining put your plasticky vinyl killing scratch paper record mangling sleaves to shame.
Keeping records in printed inner sleeves is a very bad idea
It is outside and trust me, Nagaoka does these since the 70's. Top quality for decades. Nobody ever had problems.
But it will eventually cause the printed original inner sleeve to split over time, as the record can still move around and rip the paper.
