    Pujols got his swagger back from the home run derby tbh. Beating the 1 seed in the first round and getting a crazy ovation by the crowd and his fellow players must have lit a spark in him

      Pujols emptied the tank. I remember he had to change his foot part of stance since he got injured with plantar fasciitis. Maybe he went out with all he had, because more than likely wouldn’t be able to recover next season.

    • @BobbyWelcomePackets
      @BobbyWelcomePackets 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Hacksaw_HIM_Thugginyou’re right. Though plantar fasciitis isn’t as much as an acute injury as it is a chronic problem. It’s like shin splints for the bottom of your feet if I remember correctly. Probably hurts like a mf and the fact he performed as well as he did at his age was super cool to see and shows he is a warrior imo

    • @Compucles
      @Compucles 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BobbyWelcomePackets Heck, that injury dates all the way back to 2004. Pujols played the last 19 years of his 22 year career with a bad foot. It just affected him worse in the second half of his career.

    0:16 As a Rays fan they absolutely need to do this, it'd be the perfect sendoff for him and give him a chance to reach 2,000 hits and 350 home runs to put him back in the HOF conversation, not to mention he's still good at hitting against lefties and solid at defending so they might as well go for it and use him as a platoon piece. Plus imagine how much it would increase attendance and jersey sales from his return.

    • @robinsiefkin8326
      @robinsiefkin8326 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As much as I would love this personally, there is no way they would do that without more things going seriously wrong in the injury department. Paredes, Mead, Caminero, and Rosario are all righties that mash lefties and can play third base. DH is Yandy's on his day off in the field, and Harold's when its not Yandy's. There just is not space at the moment. Longo wouldn't get enough, if any, at-bats to get those achievements.

      👏👏👏

    • @ryangale3757
      @ryangale3757 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Problem is, where do you play him? He's not getting much time at 3rd since Paredes is already there, hits righty, and is probably a better overall player, and the Rays already have Harold Ramirez to DH against lefties (he's struggling now, but expect at least that part of his game will normalize with time). What the Rays need is more lefty bats, and well, there are 3 who will be back eventually that will need roster spots and Longoria isn't likely to hold onto one over them. Now, if Harold Ramirez gets hurt, then Longoria makes a ton of sense, but til then, Brandon Belt makes more sense as a bench bat/DH addition than Longo does, which pains me to say since I too would very much like for him to come back home for a nice sendoff season.

  • @SakAttack87

    As a Yankees fan, having Tino Martinez come back to finish his career in 2005 was awesome. He was a big part of that dynasty era and seeing him get dismissed so easily to make room for Giambi really hurt as Tino had a monster year in 2001.
    It seemed like just a nostalgia farewell tour at first. The Yanks got out to a terrible start in 2005 and were in the AL East basement by the time May came around. Out of nowhere, Tino went on this crazy home run stretch and his hot streak singlehandedly helped them climb out of the hole.
    In that eight game span, he hit 8 homers with 17 RBI.

      He's the biggest victim of the steroid era on so many levels. If steroids never existed, he'd probably be talked about like he should be: a slightly worse ballplayer than Ken Griffey Jr.
      Probably would have gotten in the Hall of Fame his 2nd or 3rd year too. Probably would've placed higher in MVP voting. Probably gets another all star nod and a silver slugger or two (probably steals one from Juan Gonzalez or Jose Canseco)

    Eddie Murray went back to Baltimore in 1996, hit his 500th home run at home in Baltimore, then hit .333 in the playoffs over two series.
    Considering the somewhat ugly way Eddie left town in the first place this was a miraculous re-union. The relationship was repaired enough that when Eddie retired after 1997 he became an Orioles coach for 4 years.

He looked at the ball in his glove, but it made me want video of a play like this but the player turns to the fans, gives them big eyes and sticks their tongue out lol and it would be sweet then if it was the third out so as they were running back in they could toss the ball back over their shoulder and then turn back to the fans and wave, maybe do a bow if on the road. There was a play in the 2007 ALCS where the 3B coach didn't send Kenny Lofton to try to score from second on a hit up the left field line at Fenway. As I recall it, if Lofton scores, CLE wins that game and takes the series. I could write a whole book on the reasons I think Kenny isn't in the Hall of Fame, but in this instance, not winning a title is one of those reasons.

    Jolly can you do a video ranking the nl and al rookies of the year since 2000? Unlike football it seems that baseball has some much more flash in the pan rookies of the year

    What I think happened with Pujols is, and mind you I have no proof just a feeling, I think pitchers were throwing some easy to hit pitches for him. Putting on my tin foil hat for a moment, his homecoming to st.Louis, him turning back the clock to reach 700 seems a lil to perfect to me lol
