    Thank you so much for this video! Mine are 7,5,3, and 2 and our days look like what you talked about. That gave me so much peace that this unschooling path is the way for us. 🥰

    You are right about when you sit down how they just pounce on you with questions 😂 or requesting food… or anything thing they can think of in that moment.

    We’ve got a life learner arriving in a few weeks and we’ve already decided unschooling is our #1 preference. Open to whatever feels good once they get here and teach us about themselves but I know everything in this video sounds like bliss to me and my brain ❤️

    Thanks Lucy, love the 'energy match' ! So true and I've never thought about it this way before 🥰 And thanks for a vid on little ones- unschooling toddlers/preschoolers isn't often talked about as people seem to think it's sort of like having a one year old but for longer lol

    Wonderful and inspiring info, thanks! I’m curious, how do you approach the idea of “school culture” with your kids? How do you explain why most other kids are sent to school? I find myself at a loss when my unschooled 5 year old says “when I go to school I’ll do ____”. I think he thinks it’s like taking a fun trip. 😆

    Good stuff, Lucy! Thanks for sharing this. I love that you didn’t try to pain the perfect little pictures, but instead kept reminding us to embrace observing and allowing for emergent structure.

    Thank you for being so REAL and explain it so simple! Listening to this video left me with a sence of free educational easiness and a reminder of allowing the flow with full trust. Thank you!

    Yes! Love the noticing their interests and working with them as they change. And matching energy is brilliant. I try to think about SMF and always have a really hard time figuring out what mine personally is, isn't that terrible.

      Omg same here I thought I was alone in not being able to figure out SMFs. I guess going for walks would be one, but that one can be tough when the weather is crummy. I guess the mall used to be one, until this stupid pandemic. I am curious, Have you thought of any since this posting a few months ago?

    Yesssss to all this! We lean into each day with a mix of everyone’s needs/ requirements/ moods and respect each other on that. Always playing and with our 4yo, always a big keyboard music dance party session 🤘

    Mmmmmm ‘The Spark’ - I’d love to read that! Sounds amazing!! And the energy match is such a great tip, SMF too! Although my kids are slightly older than this age bracket I still got so much from this video! Still early days into the journey for us, still finding community & rhythms. All is so helpful! Thanku Lucy! 🙏🏻 look forward to the next vid & curious about the membership. 🧐😊

    Love love love this Lucy x x The energy match was a big penny drop for me x x Thank you x we are moving into the 5+ now with my 5&7 year old x I spent a lot of the younger years (when I wasn’t in the worry zone of curriculum) going on adventures and me reading aloud a lot. X I feel like I am still working on my expectations but our days are much more in flow and joy now x x

    I'm having so much trouble trying to reconcile the homeschool requirements in New York state with the concept of unschooling, and wrapping my head around it all is driving me nuts. This video gave me a little clarity though!

    I have been "homeschooling" for almost 3 years. I still struggle to find a routine that works and get everything done!
    I have 4 kids and on a journey to be self sufficient.
    How do I homeschool 4 kids, make everything from scratch, look after a billion animals, grow all of our own food, workout regularly, be social, have a clean house AND keep my sanity? 😂
    Seriously, anyone have any tips/ advice?
    Im determined to make it work but right now my house is always a mess or I feel like I'm neglecting something important.

    really great tips! Thanks so much. So how do you get things done that require to sit down? Do you take turns with your husband to do these things?

    • @catherine380
      @catherine380 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wondering the same. Lots of things need to get done that require concentration, like important phone calls for one example. Personally I do those things while my baby naps and just hope for the best with my 4 year old staying quiet but that usually doesn’t work very well. I’m sure lots of parents just let their kids watch tv while they get things done.

    Love this so much. My 4 yr old is so into video games and Im trying to trust in his process. He is pretty skilled for a 4 yr old but the screens aspect makes me nervous

      Screens in general (but especially video games) are addictive by nature. Maybe do some research on why they are addictive and share this with him so that he has a better understanding of why he gravitates towards them so much?

      Hey Jeeta, lots of unschoolers totally embrace screens :D Dr Peter Gray calls them the "tools of our age" - worth looking into all of this a little more :D xx

    • @nollaigization
      @nollaigization 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Jeeta, I have two sons who are 6 and 4 and they LOVE video games. We don't limit them and have seen so much joy and learning happen. I make sure I offer snacks and water often, as they can be so focused that the time just flies and they forget to eat - just like when anyone is in flow. We also talk about taking breaks and listening to our bodies for signs of needing this for various reasons. We all play Minecraft together as a family and other video games (Metroid and Megaman are favourites here). Often the boys need help figuring out different things and we use TH-cam, google searches, game play books etc to find the solutions we need. I am not necessarily that into video games, but my husband was growing up and works in IT so that helps. My struggle is balancing my needs with theirs - so I take lots of breaks outside when they are busy playing. Hope this helps :)

      I used to be concerned about my daughter playing video games and then I looked up on google... Benefits of playing video games and felt really good about what I read. My brother played video games when we were kids ALL. THE. TIME. Our parents never stopped us from playing it no matter how many hours we were on it. Now my brother is grown and works as an IT person at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is a very kind, loving and very intelligent man. Also, I listened to a podcast called living joyfully about two brothers who played video games all the time as well. Their parents never stopped them. They wound up growing up and becoming video game programmers. I know it can be scary in the beginning but things aren't always what they seem. Your child could be the next CEO/IT person of a video game/computer company that teaches all kinds of skills. Don't worry.😁💝
