Maybe, but I am still curious what others will say. I am not planar blinded, but I do like planar sets very much because they can hit techs that you can't get at the same price points with anything but planar. And if you happen to have a nice dongle or dac/amp, nice to have a set that shows off those as well.

Heck yes!!! Been waiting for your take on this one. Going to pick one up and see how I like it! Another Planar for my collection hahaha. I'm interested to see how it stacks up vs the T10. I thought this was going to be a warmer planar, like KZs take on the S08 (Which I still think is fantastic), but it's kinda fulfilling to see KZ do their own take on the "Planar V-Shape" that the S12 is known for. Great video as always!
I was thinking the same thing about how it compares to the T10 because I love that one. IMO, the T10 is a detail monster throughout the whole frequency spectrum, and it scales well with my Shanling UA4...
@@ThatVideographerNick I have no experience with the PRX. So I can’t comment on sound. But what I can comment on is that the accessories on the T10 absolutely demolish the accessories on the PRX. The cable on the T10 is orders of magnitude better, and while the T10 doesn’t come with foam tips, it does have a nice carrying case and 2 sets of different tips to see which you prefer.
I'd say the tuning followed the PR arc of tuning which was not that warm, but they brought the treble down to the right level. Should they do a warmer style like S08 or MP145, yes. But as I said, you should EQ the bass for fun. You can make it warmer especially with the PRX treble levels.
Personally I am kind of glad they didn't make another "me too" dark tuned Planar, and just copy Letsheour. I am glad that they tamed the trebele down a bit, but still kept the KZ house sound. I think that was a good move on their part, and it makes me want to purchase it...purely because it's different.
At $55 this seems like a solid deal, if you want a nearly S12 set for about 1/3 of the price. I am a bigger fan of the S08 tuning, but I like things that are darker and warmer.
Very nice review again, Paul. I like that you not only review but also provide tricks and tips about EQ for specific sets. That's very helpful for an EQ guy like me.
I've been eyeing T10 as an upgrade from my PR3 up until now (I've read in other comments you can't make a comparison though, since you didn't have a T10), but it seems this is a candidate worth considering. My greatest worry however is that the driver mesh/tape/whatever is not shown in the marketing materials for this iem, so they can easily pull a PR2 claiming it was never even supposed to be there... I'd certainly want to wait a bit and see how it goes at least a month or two, but then I was also planning a purchase on the 11.11 sale so the T10 might be the only safe option for now.
I think both are nice sets. I am a planar fan so I don't care which, but I would like people to have a chance to hear a planar. KZ happened to put them out a lower price points. T10 is probably using S12 driver or something close to it. I have more confidence in T10 than F1 Pro which people also said was like an S12.
@@PaulWasabii The Artti T10, represents the best bang for buck - lowest cost planar magnetic, that represents good value. With eartips that fit properly. You are right, the previous sets were either good for the price or good for some people, but mostly needed better tuning or EQ. PRX tries to hit both, high driver quality and tuned better.
I got the Campfire Audio audio Supermoon and its by far my favorite planar set. The bass and everything is literally the best I've heard. the semi custom fit probably helps alot.
Thank you planar bass fan. I have a heard a few planars and the bass presentation might not be for DD diehards, but I do love the levels it can handle under the mids.

This review gave me a better sense for what it is I like so much about it, despite its super-funky stock tuning.
Yeah that one is super funky and maybe a blank canvas for EQ experiments. Typically we lower bright sets in EQ but Nightingale is different, you can boost. Good way to learn what you like as the driver is quite good.
After the hole problem around PR2 and the mesh removal, I'm really avoiding KZ (specially after receiving my PR2 without mesh and with significant unbalanced R and L) so... My T10 is still the one to beat right now 😊
you've convinced me , start this series with PR1 PRO, then PR2, skip PR3 and this one seems a good and actual evolutionary another step , the lack of body and warmth , can be sidelined with a warmer source or naturally full body one , some R2R source or Tube Amp sounds about right but that had to take some test to confirm though
I am at one end of the sources, flat/uncolored and using wide bore tips. Slightly warm source, different tips will be a step in the other direction. I also EQ the bass +3db if I want more body or more for hiphop/EDM. Planars in general need some body, it just helps counter the planar timbre.
I have the PR2 V2 with foam mod and properly equalized to reduce treble. I hear nothing wrong with the sound after these mods. Worth the upgrade to PRX?
Probably not, you are close as the treble reduction is there in PRX. If you want to nitpick it, treble reduction without foam tends to retain more resolve so yeah, there is probably an incremental upgrade in PRX. If I were you, just watch it during the 11-11 sales and see if you can get one at a decent discount. No need to jump in to it today at full price.
Your point number one at the start of the video is why I stuffed cotton bud material in the edges and ends of the casing, for my pr2. 245mw enough for prx? My Pr2 is so damped at this point it's not loud enough 😂
Yeah, there is a trade off in lowering the treble without foam or cotton and retaining a higher SPL. As I said, I was using 160mW and that will exceed your hearing. You just start noticing which tracks are mixed at different levels. Sadly you are blessed with extended hearing. I will say that KZ knew there was an issue but not sure they always hear it. Some of the lighter weight nozzle mesh isn't enough and its noticeable to me. More noticeable if you EQ often and can hear it both ways.
A lot of people ended up EQ'ing the PR1 Pro to lower the treble, that is mostly the change in PRX. If you are fine with PR1 Pro as-is, no real need for PRX unless you lose PR1.
Hi Paul, with the bad QC history that I have with the KZ (I mean my pr3 deid after 3days, and I am careful with my stuff, and this is the only one mentioned), how big of a chance is that the prX could last? 😅
There is always a risk but it also looks like KZ did some work on the driver so really unknown at this point if they improved QC on it. KZ has also released so many sets lately that PRX slid by but its very good especially if it sees a price drop on 11-11
Well detailed review. I was thinking I was going to exit the video right at the beginning because of the same image throughout (I'm a sucker for stimulation, ik) but the quality of input kept me going and going. I have never owned a planar, I have owned KZ ZS10 Pro for over 5 years now, and they've been a blast to own. There is that point where things can get too loud, like described. Nonetheless, I got into the KZ rabbit hole because I have been looking for a working bluetooth adapter from the wires becoming an issue as a father to a newborn, but, because KZ ZS10 is starting to show it's insufficient for my new position, I must ask, those KZ PRX are open back? How well does it enable to hear my environment with/without music? My home Fidelio X2's have spoiled me on that matter, so that's my reference for peak spatial awareness with music on - which I understand an IEM can never have, my question is how close can it get and how close is KZ PRX. Thanks again for your excellent review, really got me on FOMO for my first set of planars.
No, not open back. KZ typically does decorative vents unless it is open back and then the marketing will show that. So no real spatial awareness on PRX. But it isn't FOMO as much as planars do render music slightly different and different is good. We are lucky to have the opportunity to explore at reasonable prices. With 11-11 almost here, keep an eye on PRX, might drop in price.
I was going to say that but did not. The issue is the nozzle piece too, they would be back at PR2 mess. We'll see how more sets appear on squig too. It is tough to get matching planar graphs but they should be more consistent than any of the previous PR sets.
Thanks! This set wasn't on my radar You said that the PRX is better than all previews versions but also that PR2 V1 had the foam over the driver. I have the PR2 V1, should I upgrade? Are Hydro shells the same size as the AS16 pro or larger? If I decided to get another planar instead of Hydro/SM4. Maybe the S08 or S12 og with EQ are better options?
My issue with flatout upgrading PR2 is that some had higher treble than others. The lower ones might sound more like PRX. I still think PRX is better but if you aren't using PR2 often, no need to upgrade. The hydro shape is slightly different from AS series, but both are similarly large compared to other KZ shells. If I was itching to buy a planar, I'd wait for 11-11 sales and see if PRX drops or any of those drop. S08 is cool, I just loosened the foam on it so it sounds more open.
By your graph it looks like the PRX and PR2 bsically have the same bass. Im interested in seeing what happens if they tune their Planars to sound as bassy as their 2DD models, maybe not the Castor but the Hydro.
Yes, that bass shelf hasn't changed much, S12 is similar. Someone decided that sounds right, but planars can handle a lot more as I said and KZ should add more.
I am not sure that will happen. Its kinda like S12 2024, until they find a better driver, incremental improvements. PRX is like that, its about as good as they can get with this driver. So they would need to re-visit Symphony or something different. Add switches or something else. Both companies are dependent on improving the driver itself now which has been hard to do.
@@PaulWasabii their motivation to keep (or at least to) improving their products is highly appreciated. in the end, we the consumers are the one who also will get the benefit(s).
@@PaulWasabiiI think that the next logical step for tuning the planar would be to add switches on them. If the driver is at the edge of what they can physically do for tuning, switches could be great options to add some bass, reduce treble, or something like that (like on zs10pro 2)
I have the S12 2024 and wonder if this, or the Hz Luna or Tiandirenhe TD20 would be better for less money. S12 sounds great … it really does, but if a set sounds even cleaner and more vibrant without losing the bass punch I’d prefer that for sure.
The KZ Symphony was a poor attempt at what I’m hoping to get from a planar set lol. s12 is close but it’s slightly warm which is not normally my preference.
I see you think the s12 2024 is the best lol…. I should listen to it more but so far I think I might be someone who likes hybrids better. The Pula PA02 Is like TOTL level for me
You are part of the group who may always prefer DD+BA as I said. Nothing wrong with that, we all have preferences. If you prefer Pula, you are probably also into timbre priority which is harder on planars which are about speed and resolve.
Yes, planars are hard to get measurements that look normal in the treble. Mostly why I didn't talk about it. KZ's graph is more accurate on this set. 8K is an artifact used for alignment. All sets will show a peak there with people like me who align to 8k.
I'm a bit scared of thst 8khz peak, is only a measurement error or it is really a bit shouty on that region? Also, I hope my Tempotec Sonata BHD is enough to drive it because its the dac I've been using lately because of its shape, the btr7 its really huge for me now
Shout comes from excess ~ 1.2khz to 4khz, and even if the 8khz peak is real, it's narrow and the magnitude isn't too high and should not be that bothersome when listening to music
It is as the treble tuning is better and it has the improvements from PR2 & PR3. PR1 Pro was nice though. If you EQ it, you are part of the way to PRX. That was the reality of most of the PR models, a lot of people were simply EQ'ing to a tuning close to PRX.
I never heard T10 but I suspect it uses S12 driver or close to it so no need to rush into PRX. The staging on PRX is actually quite good and better than some of the S12 units with the lowered treble. As I said, you need to be mindful of sources that emphasize upper mids as that will flatten a planar, a source light on bass will flatten it. Planars have enough treble air to sound big, it is usually trying to get the depth that is harder and PRX does that as long as your source pairing is right.
I never heard the T10 so I have no idea if they did a decent job. If that is a clone of S12, that you can go either way. Go with the cheaper one or wait until the 11-11 sales and see which is cheaper. As I said, planars tend to have the same characteristics, just slightly different tuning.
Sorry, I'm still a little confused after watching the comparison part. Is this still worth getting if I have a CCA Hydro? I don't mind it being hard to drive, as I have a DAC/amp available.
Only if you want to try a planar driver. Having one driver cover the frequency range is different. solved some problems but some people prefer DD+BA sound presentation.
S08 is a different sound, bassy, really warm, less technical. For people who like warm, thicker sound, it does that but that is different than S12 and PRX. S08 is tough, it is targeting people who like DD sets with that sound, not really planar fans.
Hi. Please tell me which DAC and cable should I buy for PR3 (I'm currently listening with a standard cable and directly from my phone) and PRX (I'm planning to buy)? Preferably budget segment.
I would try your phone first. PRX is slightly harder to drive, but if you still have some volume headroom on PR3, might just work out for you. If not, look for something 70mW and over which will cover most of your IEM needs.
Its a good back up and some chance it appeals more to you. Its not a clone of S12, so there is still a different flavor to it. You have S12, wait until the 11-11 sales and see the PRX drops.
I wouldn't jump to PRX unless you have a nice dongle. The problem is there isn't a direct upgrade from ZS10 Pro X, there is different. So ZS10 Pro 2 is a more modern, refined, less treble version with switches so you can adjust the bass. The ZS12 is different. but it looks cool with all metal build. ZS10 Pro X is a bit older, the newer sets don't sound the same and might just sound like sidegrades.
Of the ten planars, I kept only the P1Max (Panda) for myself - as the most more or less even and very emotionally sounding of hi-fi equipment. I tried the same Shuoer S12/S12Pro twice - but both times it was sold. Compared to Panda, the S12's vocals are pushed into the background and the cymbals are always in front (because of this, listening is not so exciting, even Jean-Michel Jarre's synthesizers sounded peaceful and without a spark). But after purchasing the Simgot EW200 - I rarely listen to Panda, I sold Moondrop Aria 2, and I'm still trying to sell Xenns Tea2 - the last two models are crap.
You fall in the looking for something different category as you tried S12. I would say enjoy P1Max and keep watching, I suspect there will be more planars trying different tunings as that is the area for growth.
I'm looking at this and the zs12 pro x. Which would you say would be better. Especially if I'm going to use them for gaming. The prices aren't that different between the 2 and I like how they look
ZS12 is easier to drive, meaning you have more volume headroom. I just found ZS12 a bit bright, gaming might be easier on your ears, sharper more definition. Metal shells too. If I was playing games and listening to music, I'd go PRX.
@@PaulWasabii alright. Probably gonna go with the prx then. As it is I haven't to turn the volume down to 20% with headphones on so I don't really need the volume
Which one would have more bass? The castor or this? I'm also thinking of getting a Sony XM5 & hoping that this would be a better option for better sound. If I was to get this only thing I have right now is my LG Quad Dac
My suspicion is both Saga and PRX have inspirations, not accidental. With PRX, maybe part feedback, maybe inspiration from S12 2024 or the S12 treble trend. I think they waited until the tuning and new damper mechanisms were solid. Also I could be 100% wrong.
Paul, this review from Japan is a good side by side by side review of PR2, PR3, and PRX. Gives a good idea of the differences you've mentioned. th-cam.com/video/hDeHYiPp-H4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gspr0IGetnSnrCgE
Probably the original Delci or Zero:Red. PRX is up there is treble and treble is SIMGOT's thing. Or if you just want to try something cheap, KZ EDC Pro. Almost in the middle of those.
Nope, that is a nice set as well, but slightly warmer tuning. That is like asking about S12 and MP145 too, did you waste your money on mp145 instead of S12, no they are different. Some people can't deal with the shells on MP145 so they might prefer PRX.
@@PaulWasabii I am more into acoustic, techno, house mix, indie pop. Rumble bass but not shouty treble. Smooth treble. Great for Movies as well. What do you suggest?
I know this will be their best planar. Wonder will they make another PRX 1 2 3? PRX Pro? or this will be their nice stop at general planar and make other planar that sound different *warmer PRX huhh. Oh ya Paul, what I want to ask is will my 70mw DAC (7hz 71) enough to drive this set with my phone? And when I put my DAC on my laptop, the volume is loud enough at 12/100, does it says that I have a big power?
KZ doesn't stop, eventually there will be a PRX 2 or whatever. The power is more about headroom, can you get to the volume you want and have some extra. 70mW would be at the low end for me on that set. It will work, and depending on your listening volume, probably fine
I usually check out many reviews, but Paul does his so concise and comprehensively that I literally have no questions left.

In the next few days. Really nice set but the store was the delay, not me.
@@PaulWasabii Before the review, can I ask if they are worth buying instead of TRN Medusa?
I own the KZ Pr1 Pro. LUV it!💕 Is there any point in buying the PRX? Am i missing the circus?🤡
I would really like to try some planar IEM, but just recently i got my EW300....
EW300 are nice, enjoy them for a while before chasing the next shiny new thing
KZ's XZ10 BT earhooks drives my PR1 Pros very well. AZ09 Pro was not capable.
do you think the KZ AZ20 earhooks could drive those PRX?
Lets see hoow long they keep the black mesh XD
I was going to say that but did not. The issue is the nozzle piece too, they would be back at PR2 mess. We'll see how more sets appear on squig too. It is tough to get matching planar graphs but they should be more consistent than any of the previous PR sets.
@@PaulWasabiia shift toward more consistency would be a very welcomed change in the planar ecosystem.
Probably for another 5 years
If it ain't a collaboration they'll keep it forever.
Kz is the most inconsistent with iem
That's a very good idea.
Thanks 🙏
hi, do you think the KZ AZ20 earhook would be able to drive the KZ PRX correctly? thanks
I don't have them but I would ask KZ on their store.www.kztws.com/
By your graph it looks like the PRX and PR2 bsically have the same bass.
Im interested in seeing what happens if they tune their Planars to sound as bassy as their 2DD models, maybe not the Castor but the Hydro.
Yes, that bass shelf hasn't changed much, S12 is similar. Someone decided that sounds right, but planars can handle a lot more as I said and KZ should add more.
KZ PRX - The One
KZ PRX Pro - The One TO GET
KZ PRX Pro X - They brought the sibilant again
KZ PRX Pro 2 - Redefining S12 2024
Off topic, but what is everyone’s favorite 1dd+1ba or 1dd+2ba iem? Drop recs!
If you prefer Pula, you are probably also into timbre priority which is harder on planars which are about speed and resolve.
well, this one looks interesting, is the 8k peak a measuring artifact? if so i might just get this one when price drops!
Yes, planars are hard to get measurements that look normal in the treble. Mostly why I didn't talk about it. KZ's graph is more accurate on this set. 8K is an artifact used for alignment. All sets will show a peak there with people like me who align to 8k.
@@PaulWasabii thanks for the explanation, I will definitely get this one to try a planar iem
I'm a bit scared of thst 8khz peak, is only a measurement error or it is really a bit shouty on that region?
Also, I hope my Tempotec Sonata BHD is enough to drive it because its the dac I've been using lately because of its shape, the btr7 its really huge for me now
8khz peak is a myth
8k is a measurement artifact used for alignment.
Shout comes from excess ~ 1.2khz to 4khz, and even if the 8khz peak is real, it's narrow and the magnitude isn't too high and should not be that bothersome when listening to music
Hi! I have the PR1 Pro. Are you saying that the PRX is an upgrade from PR1 Pro?
It is as the treble tuning is better and it has the improvements from PR2 & PR3. PR1 Pro was nice though. If you EQ it, you are part of the way to PRX. That was the reality of most of the PR models, a lot of people were simply EQ'ing to a tuning close to PRX.
@PaulWasabii So if i have a PR1 that i'm happily EQing to my liking does the prx do anything better? Is the driver any more capable technically?
How would you rate PRX against artti t10 and how is the soundstage and spacial staging of PRX in general?
I never heard T10 but I suspect it uses S12 driver or close to it so no need to rush into PRX. The staging on PRX is actually quite good and better than some of the S12 units with the lowered treble. As I said, you need to be mindful of sources that emphasize upper mids as that will flatten a planar, a source light on bass will flatten it. Planars have enough treble air to sound big, it is usually trying to get the depth that is harder and PRX does that as long as your source pairing is right.
Is it better than the Artti T10? I'm in doubt between the two...
in the video he said it is 1/9 1/10 to letshuoer s12 2024
I never heard the T10 so I have no idea if they did a decent job. If that is a clone of S12, that you can go either way. Go with the cheaper one or wait until the 11-11 sales and see which is cheaper. As I said, planars tend to have the same characteristics, just slightly different tuning.
This guy is the Chris Hedges of IEMs. Look him up & you'll see he sounds a lot like him
Cant get the artti t10 in my place so please help me. Which is better? The kz prx or sgor luna
I haven't heard Luna but none of the 13mm planars I have tried are better than PRX. Looking at the graph, I'd pass on Luna.
@@PaulWasabii thank you
you are legend bro🫡
Sorry, I'm still a little confused after watching the comparison part. Is this still worth getting if I have a CCA Hydro? I don't mind it being hard to drive, as I have a DAC/amp available.
Only if you want to try a planar driver. Having one driver cover the frequency range is different. solved some problems but some people prefer DD+BA sound presentation.
What's your opinion on the PRX VS the S08??
S08 is a different sound, bassy, really warm, less technical. For people who like warm, thicker sound, it does that but that is different than S12 and PRX. S08 is tough, it is targeting people who like DD sets with that sound, not really planar fans.
@@PaulWasabii Alright, boss. I ordered the PRX. I'm SO excited.
Hello Paul , Thank you for your video, i'm Dj , witch model you can recommend me ? thank you so much .
KZ PRX isn't bad, but go right in the middle, KZ EDC Pro or KZ Saga Balanced to start. You can upgrade when you figure out your preferences
Hey Paul, I daily use my S12 Pro, is PRX a good backup or actually better?
Its a good back up and some chance it appeals more to you. Its not a clone of S12, so there is still a different flavor to it. You have S12, wait until the 11-11 sales and see the PRX drops.
@@PaulWasabii ya waiting for 11.11 to buy lotsa stuff :D
Is PRX better than the PR1 Pro?
Easy bro easyyy get the PRX
My guy, i own a pair of the kz zs10 pro x, should i upgrade to zs12 pro or pick the prx instead?
I wouldn't jump to PRX unless you have a nice dongle. The problem is there isn't a direct upgrade from ZS10 Pro X, there is different. So ZS10 Pro 2 is a more modern, refined, less treble version with switches so you can adjust the bass. The ZS12 is different. but it looks cool with all metal build. ZS10 Pro X is a bit older, the newer sets don't sound the same and might just sound like sidegrades.
@@PaulWasabii Thx man, appreciate it, which dongle should i try?
How are they in comparison to Artti t10?
Haven't heard T10
Blue driver? Obviously buying that.
Some kinda blue wrapping material but yeah, blue always sounds better.
@@PaulWasabii😊
Go to know about this set.
But I'm going on team T10
It's kinda sad that some KZ sets have full metal build but others like this don't.
Yep, T10 is a nice set
Is it ok to buy this now ? Did kz change anything of this model ?
Not that I know of but I haven't looked hard either
Which one would have more bass? The castor or this? I'm also thinking of getting a Sony XM5 & hoping that this would be a better option for better sound. If I was to get this only thing I have right now is my LG Quad Dac
The Castor bass or KZ Saga bass have more.
Why do I have a feeling that it is not a tuning by design but rather an accident. A serendipity of sorts?
My suspicion is both Saga and PRX have inspirations, not accidental. With PRX, maybe part feedback, maybe inspiration from S12 2024 or the S12 treble trend. I think they waited until the tuning and new damper mechanisms were solid. Also I could be 100% wrong.
This or truthear ear zer red?
Blue stripe missing from factory? Could end up being a collectable. KEEP THEM!
They are nice so not going to toss them, but yeah, inlay missing on one side.
Sgor luna review pls
I think Akros did both, but I don't have a Luna for now.
Paul, this review from Japan is a good side by side by side review of PR2, PR3, and PRX.
Gives a good idea of the differences you've mentioned.

Ah cool, will check it out. Thanks
Interesting regional difference especially in the treble. Comparing to PR2 is also dicey as there were a few versions.
@@PaulWasabii oh yeah, i forgot about that. I guess the one they got was the 2nd version(?).
What is the minimum to drive this set ?
Someone usually does the math but I'd say 100mW. A lot of it is your listening volume and how much volume headroom do you want.
@ thanks
KZ PRX vs Truthear Zero Red vs Kefine Klean vs Oriveti OD100 vs Simgot EW200?
Hip hop, Indie, Techno, House mix, Acoustic. Sensitive to High treble.
Probably the original Delci or Zero:Red. PRX is up there is treble and treble is SIMGOT's thing. Or if you just want to try something cheap, KZ EDC Pro. Almost in the middle of those.
I have bought mp145 instead of this am i wasting money?
Nope, that is a nice set as well, but slightly warmer tuning. That is like asking about S12 and MP145 too, did you waste your money on mp145 instead of S12, no they are different. Some people can't deal with the shells on MP145 so they might prefer PRX.

Which is better, kz prx or artti t10?
Never heard T10
Hi Paul, what would I get from this PRX while I already have the S12 Pro ?
Negative, you have the best driver. If you want a cheaper backup or travel planar maybe, but no need to pick up PRX in your case.
@@PaulWasabiii have the s12 pro you should try it with the juzear cable and isn green tips verry good sounding and fitting combination🙏
