2013 Audi S8. PCV Valve / Oil Separator Replacement / Oil screen replacement

  • Turbo was making a very high pitch noise while driving in low RPMs. A gasket was gummed up from a previous repair by a previous owner and finally started to suck in air and loose vacuum pressure. Decided to replace the PCV and all related gaskets on all OIL and water supplies tubes. Roughly 6 hours of labor.

    Thank you for sharing this awesome video. It is very educational.
    I have 2015 S7 and I have a plan of working on mine one soon.
    I had a 2011 S4. Thought replaced PCV was a hard one. it's nothing compared to this V8 4.0.

    Is this also a separator failure?

    did this on my S8 couple years back, no manual, just a regular guy, you can do it too. This battle ship deserves it. Turbo failure, 10k+ dealer quote. Order SRM turbos instead, all under 4k. S7 and S6 will need coolant drained and radiator loosened to slide forward for more room. Replace every gasket, pcv and separator, they get cooked, I think it needs to be done every 50k. Change oil at 3k-5k, dealer recommendation at 10k is ridiculous. There is updated oil screen, I will remove my completely next time. Shake and Bake!

      I did this job on my last S8 without draining any coolant and had about the same amount spill out of the hoses. I'm guessing they didn't either. I'm about to do it again on my newest S8 and will definitely drain the coolant first to help avoid the mess.

      Just did it on my '15 S8. Just need a bunch of Torx (20, 25, 27, 30 IIRC) and a couple Metric allen heads. I did drain most of the antifreeze and had no spills. Didn't bother disconnecting the waterlines to the intercooler (you can in fact totally remove the intercooler from the plastic plenum without removing the coolant lines. The new oil separator (got mine for $115 online) is reinforced and purportedly shouldn't fail.

    Thank you so much for this video. Is there any chance you can tell me which parts your replaced for this? I replaced the oil cooler separator and I still have this noise. I didn’t know about the plate until this video. Going to try and do that this week. If there’s other things to replace would like to do it while I’m there. Thanks.

      this happened when we were about 70 miles away from home. Made it home no problem. I guess you can drive for a short while but id get working on this asap. the problem only appeared when i was in low rpm or in parked.

    • @dumitrumalcoci7873
      @dumitrumalcoci7873 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This happened the day after I picked up my car from Audi dealer for turbo replacement.
      The biggest problem in my case is that they are 600mile away from the place I leave. I am just trying to figure it out should I schedule an appointment right the way or it can wait till beginning of next month.
      In my case the noise is not as loud as it's in this video but I would definitely take care of it as soon as possible.

    I am looking for a bleeding procedure specifically for the 4.0 twin turbo platform im working on a 2013 s7 and I cannot find one anywhere. Where are t be points and in what order shod they be purged? Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I replaced an intercooler radiator and seem to be chasing bubbles on the system. I have looked high AnD low and even paid for a service manual that I cannot access because of my computer being out of date(two steps forward 3 steps back) I like your format a view of the work and no chit chat keep up the good work.
