John would have resided here during a portion of the yearlong period during which he and Yoko separated, around 1974-ish (to which he always referred as his "lost weekend"). He spent much of that time in LA, but he also acquired another residence in NYC, and it was very cool getting to see it here. First most of his time in NYC he and Yoko lived in the famous Dakota on Central Park West, which they purchased in 1973, and where he lived until he was assassinated 1980; after his death, Yoko would remain at the Dakota for for several decades, only moving out a couple of years ago.

@@LannieLord Apparently Yoko and John bought property at some point -- some kind of a farm -- in upstate NY, and she decided to move there. Seems weird, as she looks extremely frail, and it would seem that she would be more comfortable in the home where she's lived for nearly 50 years, but that's apparently what she did.

5:58 -- This is what John Lennon said “I was lying naked on my bed, when I had this urge,” he recalled to . “So I went to the window, just dreaming around in my usual poetic frame of mind. … There, as I turned my head, hovering over the next building, no more than 100 feet away was this thing with ordinary electric light bulbs flashing on and off around the bottom, one non-blinking red light on top.” Though sober, Lennon made sure to call out for Pang in an attempt to confirm his beliefs: “As I walked out onto the terrace,” she said, “My eye caught this large, circular object coming towards us. It was shaped like a flattened cone, and on top was a large, brilliant red light, not pulsating as on any of the aircraft we’d see heading for a landing at Newark Airport.”

Finally, an apartment for a big rich family.....lol The master bedroom with its fireplace and terrace is very nice. The design is traditional and each room is a good size for its function. Does that bathroom have a gold sink? lol We're moving on up to the East Side. You have to play that theme song.

A year or so ago I read that Yoko was selling “one of their NYC homes”. That article went on to say it wasn’t the Dakota. I wonder if they do still own the Dakota. I met John, Yoko and 7-month-old Sean at the Dakota. That was a magical time.
I have seen recent pics of Yoko in a wheelchair. It is quite possible that this lovely home just isn’t practical for her now?

@@KatieReadsKoziesAndMore Iirc the Dakota has an elevator, and their flat there is one level. So it makes sense that maybe this was one of their other properties she can't use anymore. Lucky you that you got a chance to meet them! I saw them going in from across the street one afternoon in, I think it was, 1979? or 1980. But only that one time and I didn't try to say hello. Seems like a dream now, it was so long ago!

Oh my God! I'm a Beatles fanatic and John was living there when he did that famous New York City t-shirt photo shoot and allegedly saw a UFO. John lived here temporarily after Yoko threw him out of the Dakota. I would have collapsed with emotion on setting foot in that place.

At first I thought what’s the big whoop? Then we went up to yet another floor.
I’m almost embarrassed to report that when you came upon the double wand and double sprayers in the upstairs bathroom, I had a physical reaction which I’ve already noted in my diary so as to consult my doctor, priest and therapist about. It felt as tho I’d been transported above the clouds and I SWEAR I heard a choir of angelic voices for a brief moment.

My mom and dad were married in the Norwegian Seamans Church in the 1950s, which was in a different location at that time, but it is good to see it still in operation. My dad's family came to the US from Norway in the 1920s.

We don't wear our shoes in our house, either. It's a custom that has been becoming more popular. The townhouse is fantastic. The price is out of reach for most of your viewers, but it actually is not bad for the location. It's also nice to see an apartment that has a real kitchen.

@@jeansiegel4128 I was a long-time customer of Wells Fargo. I made a $1 adding mistake one day in 2007. They processed my rent payment first as policy, claiming later that the highest $ transaction of the day is always processed first as a "courtesy to the customer" . So first was my rent. I made a deposit seconds later that would have covered everything and more and didn't bother to ask for the balance, thinking everything was fine. An entire week passed before I figured it out and it had dominoed to something like $500 in overdraft fees, several returned checks that had been pushed through twice, and merchant charges besides. Unfortunately, I'd deposited another paycheck and it barely covered the overdraft fees. There was $2 in my account when I closed it.
